Abstract

Based on the background of the problem, this study aims to determine the dependence of YouTube content among culinary entrepreneurs in Bengkulu City. This research is qualitative. The data collection technique of this research used the method of observation, interviews, and documentation. The theory used in this research is the theory according to Melvin Defluer and Sandra Ball Roceach. (1976) Media Dependency Theory. The results of this study reveal that Culinary Entrepreneurs use YouTube to view recipes and also to fulfill their business needs. Dependence on YouTube content can be seen by their frequent access to YouTube. This culinary entrepreneur's dependence on YouTube is in the form of accessing YouTube every day for eight hours to find information about culinary, both in the form of recipes and cooking tutorials.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the teachers’ efforts in creating effective learning communication by face to face during PPKM era. During Covid-19 pandemic, it is allowed to hold outdoor activities in PPKM era with health protocol. But until now, since 19 October 2021 until 8 November 2021, Bengkulu City in Bengkulu Province was in Level 2 PPKM. Make any rules are allowed to be executed especially learning and teaching process. The research method is descriptive qualitative by using effective communication theory according to effective communication law by Prijosaksono Sember (2002) in Nofrion (2019:138). Stated that there are five effective communication laws which abbreviated into one word which reflect the effective communication essense, it is REACH (Respect, Empathy, Audible, Clarity, Humble). The result of the research shows that the teachers effort in creating effective communication learning with face to face in PPKM era by using several words “halo”, “anak sholeh”,”RA Bina Ilmu”,”yel-yel yukk”. It can be concluded that the teachers’ efforts at Raudhatul Athfal (RA) Bina Ilmu in creating effective communication learning has been run well.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the Crisis Communication Strategy carried out by PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero) Branch of Bengkulu related to land disputes with the community. This research is a qualitative descriptive research that uses data collection by means of interviews, observation and documentation. According to the theory put forward (Kriyantono, 2015), the results of the study show that several steps in the crisis communication strategy of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero) Branch of Bengkulu have been implemented well, namely having internal and external communication teams to resolve problems, confirm and contact PWI ((Indonesian Journalists Association) regarding media that reporting negative information, providing facts to the public in the form of land ownership rights, holding press conferences and answering questions from the mass media while still implementing health protocols in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic, maintaining reputational communication by holding activities, having a one-way communication system, namely coordination between the legal and internal control divisions as well as the public relations and customer service divisions, maintaining empathetic communication by always using a polite style of language and without mentioning the real names of the persons concerned, does not cover up information within the company related to the problems that occur, is also careful in conveying information to the public in order to maintain the good name of the company, and opens communication channels to the public using mass media, websites and call centers available in the company.

Abstract

This research purpose is to find out communication strategy which used by Maxim company in increasing Competitive Advantage in Bengkulu City. This research used theory from Saban Elchdar (2013) in Sudaryono (2016:274) which involves some components such as competitive pricing, good quality, product innovation and time to market. This research is qualitative research with case study research because the researcher want to observe the information about what can be learned or pulled from related case. Data are collected by using direct observation by doing deep interview and documentation. The result of this research shows that competitive pricing, Maxim has decided basic pricing from all features so the users of Maxim application satisfied with cheap price compared with competitor. The quality of Maxim product keeps developing by increasing the comfort feeling from the users or drivers. Product innovation shows that Maxim has launched some product innovation which can be used to support and help the application user carrying their daily needs. Time to Market in conducting of promotion strategy has run very well online and offline.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the Representation of Romance in the Millennial Era in the Film Bad Boys vs Crazy Girls, this research is a qualitative study using the data analysis technique used by researchers is Roland Barthes semiotics, the results of this study show that films as one of the community's favourite entertainment facilities are always interesting and there are many messages that can be taken. One of them is the film Bad Boys vs Crazy Girls, namely Sign and Code (signs and codes) contained in the meaning of Representation of Romance in the Millennial Era, the denotation in this story is initially Liam and Kate, two of the most popular students in school who hate each other then over time they have the same feeling of falling in love until finally Kate and Liam are dating. Furthermore, the connotation in this film changes from hating each other to loving each other which describes a journey that usually occurs in romance stories, then the myth in this film is that someone who hates each other with the passage of time who is always together will cause feelings of love. The selection of signs and codes focuses on the scene of Liam and Kate falling in love again. Through semiotic studies, researchers at least find signs and codes that are significant to the research objectives in the scenes of teenage life summarised in the denotation and connotation tables.

Abstract

Elements of crime in films can be found in scenes, story ideas or dialogues. The element of crime can trigger violence in the real world. The purpose of this research is to know and describe the meaning of crime as a learning medium to recognize and prevent criminal acts in the real world. The depiction of criminal elements is influenced by patriarchal ideology and extremism. This research is a qualitative research with John Fiske's semiotic analysis approach using The Codes Of Television theory. The results of this study indicate that the meaning of crime shown in the John Wick film displays and communicates four forms of crime, namely: shooting, killing, beating, and maltreating. The four forms of criminality are influenced by the ideology of masculinity and extremism. Masculinity is a cultural construction attached to men, extremism is a radical belief in a concept. The ideology of masculinity is constructed from the ideology of patriarchy and capitalism and the ideology of extremism is constructed from the ideology of fanaticism.
