Abstract

The objectives of the study were to 1) determine the characteristics of rice seed breeder farmers in Purworejo Regency, 2) determine the relationship between internal and external factors with farmers 'decisions in conducting rice seed breeder farming, 3) determine the internal and external factors that influence farmers' decisions in conducting seed breeding farming rice. The sampling of the study area was determined based on purposive sampling. The chosen location is Purworejo Regency. Samples taken in the village of Awu Awu were 13 people, in Sukomanah village were 10 people, in Seborokrapyak village were 6 people, in Lugu village were 3 people, in Tunjungrejo village were 6 people. Determination of the number of samples based on a Likert scale. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire. The results showed that 1) formal education, availability of facilities and infrastructure, partnership support had a strong relationship with farmers 'decisions, while suitability with land aspects and ease of effort had a very strong relationship to farmers' decisions inbreeding seed farming, 2) partnership support had a significant influence on farmers' decisions.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) To determine the characteristics of farmers in applying the Urban Farming concept to urban agriculture in Purworejo Regency, 2) To determine the level of self-awareness of farmers in applying the Urban Farming concept to urban agriculture in Purworejo Regency, and 3) To determine What are the benefits of farmers in applying the Urban Farming concept to urban agriculture in Purworejo Regency? This research was descriptive and class interval. The number of samples in this research was 30 farmers. The results of this research showed: 1) The characteristics of farmers in applying the urban farming concept to agriculture in urban areas in Purworejo Regency was high school farmer education with a percentage of 54%. Farmer experience: less than 10 years, with a percentage of 77%. Age 50-60 years with a percentage of 40%. Land area less than 500 m was 74%. The majority of plants cultivated were ornamental plants, as much as 30%, 2) Farmers' self-awareness in implementing the urban farming concept is at the highest percentage, namely 94.74% that farmers know that food can be obtained from urban farming activities, 3) and the last, in implementing urban farming in urban areas in Purworejo Regency, farmers use verticulture, plant racks, tabulampots, house fences, house walls, hanging pots, hydroponics, and used bottles.

Abstract

The efforts to increase agricultural production are expected to year-over-year increase. The aims of this study were 1) to determine the characteristics of farmers in cultivating sugarcane in sandy soil, 2) to determine farmers' adoption of sugarcane plantation cultivation in sandy soil, and 3) to determine the productivity of sugar cane plantations in sandy soil. The research applied descriptive method. The total sample taken was 30 samples who were sugarcane farmers from the sandy soil, Purworejo Regency by purposive sampling. The instrument used was using a Likert scale ranging from strongly agree, agree, undecided, disagree, and strongly disagree. To answer the first objective used descriptive analysis, second, and the third objective used class intervals (low, medium, and high). The results of this study are 1) characteristics of sugarcane farmers on sandy soil in Purworejo Regency are classified as productive, the highest level of education of the farmers is junior high school, the experience of farmers in cultivating sugarcane on sandy soil are > 15 years, the total production of sugarcane are 5- 6 ton, the area of farmer's land are 2-4 Ha, and the productivity level of farmers are 3 - 4 ton/Ha. 2) the adoption rate of sugarcane farmers on the sandy soil of Purworejo Regency are medium, and 3) the level of productivity of sugarcane farmers on the sandy soil of Purworejo Regency is classified as medium productivity. The utilization of coastal land should add compost to increase soil moisture. The seeds that have been certified and have SNI.
