Abstract

Introduction: Free radicals in the air such as NO2 , O3 , PM2,5 induce the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the body and stimulates the production of superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme. Imbalanced levels of free radicals and antioxidants will trigger the production of malondialdehyde (MDA). This study aimed to analyze the correlation between NO2 concentrations in the air with SOD and MDA levels in bus terminal officers. Methods: This study was an analytical observational and used a cross-sectional design. The population included terminal operational officers and desk administrative officers in the bus terminal. A number of 12 people was chosen as a sample calculated with averaging formula between case and control. The measurement of NO2 concentrations in the ambient air was performed using the Griess Saltzman method. The ELISA method was utilized to analyze the levels of the SOD enzyme, and the TBARS method was used to analyze the level of MDA serum. A statistical test was conducted using a Mann-Whitney test and Independent-2 Sample T-test. Results and Discussion: The average of NO2 concentrations in the ambient air showed 106.5 µg/Nm3 and in the administration room at 17.8 µg/Nm3 . There was a very significantly higher exposure to NO2 in the air towards the level of SOD enzyme (p < 0.01) and to the level of MDA serum (p < 0.01). Conclusion: The high level of exposure to NO2 in the ambient air will increase SOD enzyme and MDA serum production in the body. It is recommended that the officers consume more fruit and vegetables containing vitamins C and E to fulfill the daily nutritional intake for antioxidants, and for the operational officers, always use a mask

Abstract

Salah satu tempat yang menghasilkan sampah cukup banyak yaitu dari sektor perdagangan terutama pasar. Pasar Ciroyom menghasilkan timbulan sampah 22 m³/hari apabila diestimasikan timbulan sampah sampah perpedagang di pasar Ciroyom mencapai 24,1 liter/orang/hari, ditambah lagi penanganan sampah yang tidak berjalan lancar mengakibatkan sampah menumpuk dan pasar terlihat kumuh. Tujuan penelitian mengetahui gambaran penanganan sampah pada tahap pewadahan, pengumpulan sementara dan pengangkutan, serta gambaran persyaratan sarana dan prasarana. Penelitian bersifat deskriftif dengan metode survei menggunakan teknik observasi dan wawancara. Populasinya adalah seluruh pedagang berjumlah 914 orang dan seluruh petugas sampah yang menangani sampah sejumlah 15 orang. Besar sampel pedagang sebanyak 90 orang dan 15 orang petugas sampah, Alat pengumpul data menggunakan lembar observasi dan kuesioner. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan cara observasi dan wawancara. Analisis data menggunakan analisis univariat dengan menggunakan analisis tabel selanjutnya dipresentasekan. Hasil: penanganan sampah pada tahap pewadahan 83,33% tidak memenuhi syarat, tahap pengumpulan 66,66% tidak memenuhi syarat, tahap pengangkutan tidak memenuhi syarat sebesar 42,85 %. Sarana penanganan sampah pada tahap pewadahan, tidak memenuhi syarat sebesar 80%, sarana pada tahap pengumpulan tidak memenuhi sebesar 60%, dan sarana pada tahap pengangkutan sebesar 75 % tidak memenuhi syarat. Pengetahuan petugas sampah di Pasar Ciroyom Kota Bandung Tahun 2021: kategori baik 3 orang (20%,) kategori cukup 9 orang (60%), dan kategori kurang 3 orang (20%). Saran: Bagi pengelola pasar perlu pengadaan tempat sampah organik dan anorganik dengan warna berbeda, Pengadaan APD (Alat Pelindung Diri) untuk petugas sampah, perlu kerjasama dengan pihak Puskesmas atau Dinkes Kesehatan setempat terkait dengan sosialisasi atau penyuluhan tentang penanganan sampah di Pasar, pedagang harus melakukan pemilahan sampah organik dan anorganik, tempat sampah organik sebaiknya dilapis dengan kantong plastik. Pedagang harus menjaga kebersihan lingkungan terutama setelah selesai berjualan. Abstract

Extract of Snake Plant (Sansevieria sp.) As a Reducer of Indoor Air Pollution, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) -Benzene. The quality of the indoor environment has become a health concern, as city dwellers spend 80-90% of their time indoors, where outdoor air pollution is several times higher. Indoor potted plants can remove airborne contaminants such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), more than 300 of which have been identified in indoor air. and a very wide range of light, and is resistant to pollutants. This plant is also able to absorb more than 107 harmful pollutants in the air, this is due to Sansevieria sp. contains the active ingredient Pregnane glycosides. These active ingredients function to reduce pollutants into organic acids, sugars and amino acids so that these pollutants are no longer harmful to humans3. This study aims to see the extract of the tongue-in-law in reducing Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in the room. The method used in this research is true experimental design with pre and post-test design without control design. Based on the results of the study, the decrease in benzene levels was done by using the sansevieria extract concentration with the average reduction proportions, namely: 10 ppm concentration; 98.24%, 20 ppm; 98.47%; 30 ppm; 98.73%. The results of statistical tests using the Mann Whitney U test showed that the results were 0.000 <0.05 so that there was a relationship, namely that there was a difference in the concentration of the extract of Sansevieria sp. against decreased levels of benzene. The most effective level of Sansevieria extract in reducing benzene levels in the air was 30 ppm with an average reduction proportion of 98.73%.

Abstract

Lingkungan tempat kerja terdapat banyak bahaya dan risiko terhadap kesehatan pekerja itu sendiri, paparan kebisingan akan berdamapak keselamatan dan kesehatan seperti kebisingan yang berasal dari compressorKebisingan yang tinggi depatdilakukanpengendalian dengan merekayasa lingkungan atau mendesain pengendalian dari sumber suara dengan penambahan lapisan yang dapat untuk mereduksi kebisingan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan berbagai variasi ketebalan serbuk kayu dan papan telur sebagai media peredam kebisingan. Penelitian ini menggunakan true experimental design dengan pre-post test only design dan data dianalisis menggunakan uji Kruskal-Wallis. Untuk menentukan perbedaan serbuk gergaji dan papan telur sebagai pereduksikebisingan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai intensitas kebisingan sebelum dilakukan perlakuan berada pada rerata 101 dB(A). Nilai intensitas kebisingan ketebalan 1 cm rata-rata persentase penurunan sebesar 38,89%. Ketebalan 2 cm rata-rata persentase penurunan sebesar 39,48% dan Pada ketebalan 3 cm rata-rata persentase penurunan sebesar 38,48%. Kesimpulan penelitian ini terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara pengunaan serbuk gergaji dan papan telur dengan ketebalan 1 cm, 2 cm dan 3 cm terhadap penurunan kebisingan pada mesin compressor. Perlu dilakukan penelitian lanjutan terkait ketebalan noise barrier yang efektif.

Abstract

Background: Gunung Putri Health Center is one of the produce of medical waste. The process of handling solid medical waste has problems at the stages of transportation and temporary storage. Aims: The purpose of this study is to determine the handling of solid medical waste, the infrastructure for handling solid medical waste, the science and action of healthy and cleaning workers. Methods: The research method used descriptive. Sampling technique using purposive sampling, the sample for this study is 27 people, there is 6 rooms observed produce solid medical waste. Results: The results showed that the generation of solid medical waste is 0.87 kg/day. Treatment of solid medical waste at the sorting stage 100% qualified, 67% of the requirements for the container stage, the in-situ transportation stage not qualified, the ex-situ transportation stage 100% qualified , the temporary storage stage not qualified, waste handling infrastructure facilities 100% qualified for solid medical sorting and storage stage, in-situ transportation stage and temporary storage stage are not eligible. Aspects of the knowledge of health and cleaning workers 25 respondents (92.6%) in the "good" category, 2 respondents (7.4%) in the "enough" category. The behavior aspect of the health of workers from 26 respondents was 100% in the "good" category, and the behavior of cleaners from 1 respondent was in the "less" category. Conclusion: The conclusion is that the handling of solid medical waste and infrastructure does not meet the requirements, the science and action of healthy workers is in a good category. The knowledge of the cleaning staff is in the sufficient category and the behavior is lacking. It is expected that in-situ transportation will be carried out every day or less than 1 day if the waste is filled with 3/4 of the volume of the container, increasing the availability of TPS at the Gunung Putri Health Center.
