Abstract

Scientific actions related to facts and everyday problems are needed in the biology learning process to train students' thinking skills. Thinking skills are useful for facing the challenges of education and technological developments in the 21st century. However, these conditions are not optimal, especially critical thinking skills for different academic abilities. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the PBL model on different academic abilities on the critical thinking of class XI students on the coordination system material. This quasi-experimental research was conducted on students of class XI IPA 1 at SMAN 10 Banjarmasin and class XI IPA 3 at SMAN 12 Banjarmasin. The sample of the upper academic ability is 26 students, and the lower academic ability is 28 students. The instrument used is an essay through pretest and posttest in the experimental class and control class. Data were analyzed using Anacova after the data fulfilled the normality and homogeneity tests. The results of the analysis show that there is an influence of the PBL learning model on critical thinking in students of different academic abilities, where the class F value is 91.84 with a p value of 0.000 or less than 0.05. The academic F score is 8.26 with a p value of 0.006 or less than 0.05. This learning model can be a solution to produce graduates who are competent in critical thinking.Abstrak Tindakan-tindakan ilmiah yang berkaitan dengan fakta dan masalah sehari-hari diperlukan dalam proses belajar biologi untuk melatihkan kemempuan berpikir siswa. Keterampilan berpikir berguna untuk menghadapi tantangan pendidikan dan perkembangan teknologi abad 21. Namun kondisi ini belum maksimal terutama keterampilan berpikir kritis pada kemampuan akademik berbeda. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui pengaruh model PBL pada kemampuan akademik berbeda terhadap berpikir kritis siswa kelas XI pada materi sistem koordinasi. Penelitian quasi eksperimen ini dilaksanakan pada siswa kelas XI IPA 1 SMAN 10 Banjarmasin dan kelas XI IPA 3 SMAN 12 Banjarmasin. Sampel kemampuan akademik atas berjumlah 26 siswa, dan akademik bawah 28 siswa.  Instrumen yang digunakan berupa essay melalui pretest dan postest pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Data dianalisis menggunakan Anacova setelah data memenuhi uji normalitas dan homogenitas. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran PBL terhadap berpikir kritis pada siswa kemampuan akademik yang berbeda, dimana nilai F hitung kelas sebesar 91,84 dengan nilai p 0,000 atau kurang dari 0,05. Nilai F hitung akademik sebesar 8,26 dengan nilai p 0,006 atau kurang dari 0,05. Model pembelajaran ini bisa menjadi solusi untuk menghasilkan lulusan pendidikan yang kompeten dalam berpikir kritis.

Abstract

Issues in learning, particularly the utilization of learning resources, have not been maximized to facilitate teachers in guiding students to learn certain concepts related to the surrounding environment. This study aims to analyze the motives and colors of Sasirangan as a source of biology learning in high schools and the knowledge of high school biology teachers in Banjarmasin regarding the existence of Sasirangan. This survey research involved 40 sasirangan craftsmen from 20 sasirangan production houses and 38 high school biology teachers in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. The instruments used were interview sheets and questionnaires. Data analysis was descriptive using percentage techniques. The results of expert validation indicated that the interview sheets and questionnaires were suitable, with scores of 89.63 and 92.5. sasirangan has great potential to become a source of biology learning, both in terms of motives and natural colors used by craftsmen. However, high school biology teachers in Banjarmasin have not fully utilized and conveyed it as a biology learning resource. While in other statements, teachers stated that they understood and explained that the existence of Sasirangan is very important to be conveyed in biology learning. Some teachers were able to provide information on biology concepts related to the existence of Sasirangan.

Abstract

One of the problems in our education world is the weakness of the learning process, which has an impact on metacognitive skills and critical thinking skills of students. One of the contributing factors is that the teacher only provides existing material without any development related to the real world of students. Thus the effort that can be made is that before carrying out the learning process the teacher as an educator must have a learning plan, which is included in the learning tool. Because in a learning device a teacher can design learning methods and materials that are considered innovative when used. One of the innovative learning methods that can build active learning conditions for students is to use a local wisdom-based learning model. The research objective was to determine the validity of learning tools through a learning model based on local wisdom of South Kalimantan to improve metacognitive skills and critical thinking of students in the classification concept of living things. This study develops products in the form of RPP, LKPD and Questions. The development method used refers to 4-D development which has 4 stages, namely define, design, develop and disseminate. The type of data used is qualitative and quantitative data. The instrument used was a validation sheet that was declared valid based on the results of the expert team's assessment. Data analysis techniques were carried out by matching the results of empirical validation from experts with predetermined validity criteria. The results of this study indicate that local wisdom-based learning tools are worth trying out, because the scores obtained from the validation results show validity with a percentage of> 67.19% which is considered valid enough and has no revised information
