Abstract

The development of technology always produces both positive and negativeimpacts, as well as the use of mobile phones in public. Today, short messageservices, known better as SMS, as a functionof mobile phones has been quitepopular to some people in rural areas in West Java.This paper describes the useof SMS in mobile phoneinthe process ofinformation seeking for health informationand services for community. This research was conducted through descriptiveapproach with in-depth interview, observation and literature study.The resultsshows that the development of SMS has become the channelfor informationseeking onhealth information and services. This system is usefull and hasbeendevelopedby the government and stakeholders engaged in public health toprovidethe information for health services. In general, SMS usage is consideredsuccessful and needs to be expanded by both government and non-governmentalorganizations due to several purposes.Firstly, the use of mobile phones hasbecome part of information seekingin rural communities.Secondly, the use of SMSin supplying health information and services can provide a faster informationsystem related to hospital services and patient’s condition. On the top of that, thedissemination of health information and services through SMS also providesopportunities for better communication between healthcare providers and patientin more deepen and intensive way.

Abstract

The Tonight Show is a talk show program that has been broadcast on NET TV since 2013. Recently, NET TV made a new strategy for the Tonight Show program by creating a new program that is only broadcast on the Youtube platform only. The purpose of this study is to explain the content diversification strategy carried out by NET TV using Mosco's political economy theory, with a descriptive comparative study method. This study also compares the regulation of television media with Youtube media when one program is broadcast on two different platforms, which also have very different content. The findings of this study are that NET TV's strategy to diversify content is quite successful, as seen from the high subscriber of the TonightShowNET Youtube channel when the Tonight Show Premiere was first broadcast, and the number of viewers who continued to rise when the special was uploaded. Another finding is that Youtube already has regulations for users and creators who do violate the rules, but when compared to P3SPS which has been compiled by KPI, the viewing standards on Youtube are still not appropriate.

Abstract

Konstruksi masyarakat dalam budaya patriarki terkait tentang peran laki-laki dan perempuan salah satunya menganggap urusan mengurus atau merawat anak khususnya bayi adalah tanggung jawab perempuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui terbentuknya komunitas Ayah ASI dan pemanfaatan akun twitter @ID_AyahASI untuk advokasi oleh komunitas Ayah ASI. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi kasus dengan teknik pengumpulan dan wawancara mendalam, observasi dan studi literature. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa terbentuknya komunitas Ayah ASI diawali dengan kesadaran laki-laki untuk lebih berperan dalam kesehatan bayinya kebutuhan laki-laki terkait saluran komunikasi dan media untuk mengembangkan pengetahuannya tentang ASI. Penggunaan twitter oleh komunitas Ayah ASI menggunakan sudut pandang dan cara komunikasi laki-laki dalam menyebarkan informasi atau membahas kesehatan anak termasuk ASI. Selain itu twitter juga dapat memfasilitasi proses advokasi yang bersifat interaktif dan tidak hanya melibatkan anggota komunitas Ayah ASI akan tetapi juga para follower dan pengguna twitter lainnya. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan adanya pertemuan rutin komunitas Ayah ASI secara langsung untuk memastikan partisipasi di media digital terealisasi dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dan mereka dapat menciptakan ruang baru untuk komunikasi yang lebih baik antara ayah dan ibu dalam membahas kesehatan bayi di twitter dengan tagar #AyahIbu ASI.

Abstract

Gadis Kretek is a series exclusively aired on the subscription streaming platform, Netflix. It tells the story of a woman named Dasiyah who fights against patriarchal values that she feels are unfair to her as a woman. This study uses a qualitative method with narrative analysis through four elements in the film, namely plot, premise, characterization, and conflict. The results reveal that there are strong patriarchal values regarding women as shown through the plot, premise, characterization, and conflict in the Gadis Kretek series. The plot or storyline shows Dasiyah's dependence on men. The premise of this film assumes that women who fight against patriarchal values will experience defeat. Dasiyah, as a woman, has a strong character but is alone, surrounded by men with characters who silently support her, and a very patriarchal tobacco sauce chef. Dasiyah faces various conflicts both with her partner and with patriarchal figures who oppose her desire to become a sauce maker in the tobacco industry, making women victims in political conflicts that women do not understand. In the end, the Gadis Kretek series concludes with the bitterness of Dasiyah's life and the success of men using the tobacco sauce formula created by Dasiyah without her knowledge.

Abstract

Digital activism evolves from social movements. The promise of new media in the expansion of digital activism encourages global networks of volunteers to address environmental challenges. The purpose of this article is to investigate how Teens Go Green Indonesia employs new media in digital activism connected to environmental concerns. As a data gathering strategy, a qualitative research methodology including interviews, observation, and documents is employed. The idea of cyberactivism and the theory of new social movements are used to investigate the reality of Teens Go Green Indonesia's various linkages and communication activities. Teens Go Green offers a variety of environmental care initiatives, including fun, camping, and scholarships. Instagram is the most popular platform for spreading information. The type of activism that is carried out is organizationally enabled action by combining connective action and collective action.

Abstract

"@hopehelpsnet as a Media for Activism in Preventing Sexual Violence for College Students. This research aims to determine the emergence of Instagram @hopehelpsnet as a medium for activism in preventing sexual violence among students, content management, Instagram account management, and the contributions it provides. This research was conducted using qualitative methods with a case study approach and using interviews, observation, and literature study for data collection. @hopehelpsnet exists as a medium for preventing and handling sexual violence among students. The results of research indicate that @hopehelpsnet first emerged as a provider of sexual violence response and prevention services in various universities in Indonesia after the formation of HopeHelps at Universitas Indonesia. @hopehelpsnet manages content by paying attention to the victim's perspective and trying to educate and mobilize its followers. @hopehelpsnet facilitates its followers by providing complaint services, holding digital discussion rooms, and holding campaigns on the issue of sexual violence. Followers of @hopehelpsnet also said that their knowledge increased after following the @hopehelpsnet account and considered sexual violence an important issue to pay attention to.

Abstract

Anti-feminism is a movement that is more opposed to reaffirming, maintaining, and increasing the subordination of women by patriarchal forces. For this movement, feminist thinking can lead to deviant actions because these thoughts are not in accordance with religious teachings. The group then uses digital media channels to create anti-feminism narratives which are published on Islamic faith-based information websites. The purpose of this study is to reveal how the representation of feminism in Islami.co media acts as a counter-narrative against anti-feminism discourse echoed by other Islamic groups. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. The data collection technique was a literature study of documents from various references and the results of media analysis of Islami.co. The data analysis method used is the framing analysis model of William Gamson and Andre Modgliani which is elaborated with the perspective of Representation Theory by Stuart Hall. The result of the study shows that Islami.co is a digital media counter-narratives against anti-feminist discourse. The representation of feminism in this media is interpreted as part of the struggle of Islam in forming the spirit of justice for all mankind. Islami.co packs facts and clarifies the counter-narrative of anti-feminism discourse through authentic sources such as the Qur’an and hadith as well as various arguments that rely on empirical data. This effort is not just for creating justice and equality, but also as a form of obedience to what is commanded by Islam.
