Abstract

attempts to do that is the use of high yielding varieties. This study aimed to determine the effect of four doses of Trichoderma extent on the growth and production of some onion varieties, which have been implemented in Simalingkar, excl. Tuntungan Field from May  to August 2012. This study used a randomized block design factors ie double dose Trichodema first factor with 4 levels, namely 0 g (control), 1 g , 2 g , 3 g dose. The second factor is that varieties: Medan, Bali Karet, Maja. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance, followed by Test Honestly Significant Difference The results of data analysis showed that the varieties differ significantly in plant height, number of leaves, number of cloves per sample, cloves per bulb diameter. Dose Trichoderma significantly different height and dry weight of plants per plot. Interaction between Trichoderma doses and varieties have significantly influenced all parameters.   Keywords: Onion, Trichoderma dose, varieties

Abstract

The research was conducted on the farm field with ± 25 meters above sea level from May to July2012. Randomized Block Design was used with 2 factors, ie: varieties (Hercules, Mercy and Harmony)and organic fertilizers (0, 100, 200, 300 g/plant). The parameters observed were plant height, the timeof flowering, the number of branches, the time of harvest, the fruit production per plant, the fruitlength, and the fruit diameter. The results showed that the varieties significantly affected: the plantheight 2, 3, and 4 week planted, the time of flowering, the number of branches, the time of harvest, thenumber of production per plant, the fruit length and the fruit diameter. Fertilizer significantly affectedto almost all of the observation parameters except the the plant heigh 2 week planted. The interactionbetween variety and organic fertilizer affected only to the fruit diameter.Key words: cucumber, variety, organic fertilizer

Abstract

The objective of the research was to determine the effect of the combination of IAA and BAP on the micro shoot induction of banana Kepok. The research was conducted at the Tissue Culture Laboratory, Horticultural Seed Center, Gedung Johor, Medan, North Sumatera, Indonesia, from October 2016 to January 2017. The completely randomized design was used with two factors; the first factor was IAA (1 mg/l, 2 mg/l, 3 mg/l, 4 mg/l) and the second factor was BAP (2 mg/l, 4 mg/l, 6 mg/l, 8 mg/l). The result showed that the application of IAA and BAP significantly affected the whole parameters observed. The combination of IAA and BAP significantly affected the percentage of shoot proliferated and the number of shoots. The combination of IAA and BAP (I4 B3) showed the highest shoot growth.Keywords: banana kepok, explant, IAA and BAP, shoot induction

Abstract

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari kesembilan marka SSR mampu mendeteksi total alel sebanyak 57 alel dengan kisaran 4 - 10 alel per primer dengan nilai Polymorphic Information Content (PIC) diperoleh berkisar antara 0.55 - 0.82. Jumlah alel pada 4 berkisar antara 2.3 – 3.67 per populasi dengan nilai persentase lokus polimorfik diperoleh berkisar antara 36% - 100%, primer yang terbaik pada penelitian ini yaitu mEgCIR3555 (10 alel per primer) dengan nilai PIC sebesar 0.82 dan mEgCIR0782 (8 alel per primer) dengan nilai PIC sebesar 0.81. Analisis dendogram keempat populasi yaitu E. oleifera Suriname, E. oleifera Brazil dengan hibrida interspesifiknya (BC1 Suriname dan BC1 Brazil) terbagi ke dalam 3 group besar dengan jarak genetik berkisar antara  0.04 - 0.98, keragaman genetik yang dapat dijelaskan oleh marka SSR pada penelitian ini sesebar 57.29%.Kata kunci: E. oleifera, Hibrida Interspesifik, Kekerabatan Genetik, Keragaman Genetik,                      Simple Sequence Repeats.

Abstract

The aim of the research was to determine the effect of cytokinin on the scion compatibility on the grafting union of Garcinia atroviridis. The research was conducted in Gelugur Jaya Nursery, Dusun II Bahorok, Langkat District from February 2017 to July 2017. The randomize block design (RBD) was used with 2 factors; the first factor was the rootstock type i.e; hermaphrodite rootstock and female rootstock; the second factor was the cytokinin (0 ppm, 2 ppm, 4 ppm). The result showed that the cytokinin significantly affected the number of leaves. The cytokinin with 4 ppm showed the highest number of leaves. The rootstock was not affected the whole parameters.

Abstract

The research was aimed to know the characteristics of vegetative and generative of introduction and some local maize varieties. The research was carried out on the land of the Centre Seed Service of Cash Crops, Departmentof Agriculture, Medan Sunggal, Deli Serdang district, from July 2016 to October 2016. The randomized block design was used with three varieties of maize (Black Aztec, Bisi2, Bonanza). Variables observed were: the plant height, the time of flowering, the time of female flowers bloomed, the time of harvested, the cob length, the number of lines per cob, the production per sample plant, the production per plot. The results showed that the three varieties of maize tested have varying diversity to the plant height, the time of male flower bloomed, the time of harveste, the cob length, the number of line per cob, the production per sample, the production per plot. The Black Aztec showed the lowest production (1005.56 grams per plot) mean while the Bonanza showed the highest production (2338.44 grams). The highest heritability and the broad of diversity coefficient  were obtained in the time of male flower bloomed, the time of female flower bloomed, the time of harvested, the number of lines per cob.Key words: introduction, maize, varieties

Abstract

Identification of morphological characteristics and phylogenic relationship used to identify the best coconut characters that can be used as elders and germplasm. The purpose of this research was to identify the morphological characteristics and phylogenetic relationship of several genotypes of coconut in Pangkalan Brandan districts, Pangkalan Susu districts and Sei Bingei districts Langkat regency North Sumatera. The research was conducted from April to Mei 2018 by descriptive survey method based on coconut descriptor of International Plant Genetic Resources Institute (IPGRI) using accidental sampling. This result showed that in research area there were 13 genotypes of dwarf coconut and 14 genotypes of tall coconut. The morphological characteristics were  found for crown shape viz (spherical, hemispherical, X-shaped ‘silhouette’), flower shape (normal and additional spathes or bracts), and fruit size (ovoid, almost round, oblate). The closet phylogenetic relaationship is AP16 and AP2 with coefficient euclidean 3,464 and farthest phylogenetic relationship is AP20 and AP22 with coefficient euclidean 10,488. Phylogenetic relationship of between genotypes of coconut in Pankalan Brandan Districts, Pangkalan Susu Districts and Sei Bingei Districts Langkat regency still have a close level relationship. Abstract

The oil palm plant is a one-piece plant included in Palmae's family. Molecular marking applications can be used to improve efficiency in analyzing genetic relationship, gene mapping, and marker-assisted selection (MAS) in oil palm plants. This study aims to determine the visualization of the amplification of DNA of Origin of Oil Palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) Germplasm PT. Socfindo Based on Three SSR (Simple Sequence Repeats) Primers. The material analyzed is the 14 origin of oil palm originating from the germplasm of PT. Socfindo. The results showed the size of DNA bands that varied from 138 bp to 308 bp. The lowest band size was found on the FR-0782 primers, namely 138-211 bp and the polymorphic percentage was 60%. Key words: oil palm, molecular markers, SSR markers

Abstract

Desa Gunung Serawan, Kecamatan Bandar Masilam terletak sekitar 145 km dari kota Medan. Sebagian masyarakat yang memiliki ladang dan lahan pekarangan telah memanfaatkan dengan menanami kakao. Kualitas biji kakao yang dihasilkan masih rendah sehingga nilai jualnya juga rendah. Akibatnya pendapatan petani dari kebun kakao juga masih rendah. Rendahnya kualitas biji kakao antara lain bersumber dari proses fermentasi yang kurang sempurna serta proses pengeringan yang kurang baik. Proses fermentasi masih menggunakan karungkarung bekas sehingga banyak biji yang busuk. Pengeringan biji kakao dilakukan di halaman rumah dan masih mengandalkan panas dari sumber matahari sehingga permasalahan muncul pada kondisi cuaca kurang baik. Proses pengeringan seperti ini menyebabkan biji kakao masih mengandung kadar air yang tinggi sehingga dapat menyebabkan busuk terserang cendawan atau jamur. Kelompok tani Sri Gunung dan Serawan Jaya telah mencoba mengatasi hambatan-hambatan ini. Faktor kurangnya modal dan pengetahuuan menyebabkan program kelompok tani tersebut mengalami kendala. Tim pengabdian pada masyarakat USU memberikan solusi dengan cara pembuatan peralatan fermentasi dan pengeringan biji kakao yang dirakit bersama-sama dengan masyarakat agar selain mereka akan memiiki peraatan yang mereka butuhkan juga terjadi transfer ilmu dan teknologi yang dapat mereka kembangkan kelak ke depan.

Abstract

Tim Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) mengusulkan kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat (PPM) ini di Desa Bandar Masilam I atas dasar keterbatasan-keterbatasan yang dimilikinya. Desa ini terletak di bagian tengah Provinsi Sumatera Utara, sekitar 145 km dari kota Medan dan dapat ditempuh dengan kendaraan roda 2 dan roda 4. Kondisi jalan ke desa yang kurang baik menyebabkan waktu tempuh dari Medan dapat mencapai 4 jam. Letak desa diantara perkebunan kelapa sawit milik pemerintah maupun swasta. Masyarakat desa Bandar Masilam I sebagian besar petani dan sebagai buruh di perkebunan yang ada di sekitarnya. Sebagian masyarakat yang memiliki ladang dan lahan pekarangan telah memanfaatkan dengan menanami kelapa sawit. Kualitas sawit yang kurang baik menyebabkan harga jual menjadi tidak menentu, sehingga sebagian masyarakat sudah mencoba beralih ke komoditi kakao. Gapoktan Serumpun, kelompok tani Mandiri, Lestari dan Mekar Sari telah mencoba menanam kakao dengan bibit yang bersertifikat dan berkualitas. Sebagian bibit kakao bersertifikat berasal dari pengabdian pada masyarakat Universitas Sumatera Utara tahun 2017. Pendapatan masyarakat yang masih rendah sebagai salah satu kendala dalam budidaya kakao karena harus menunggu waktu panen yang cukup lama. Perlu dilakukan langkah untuk menambah pendapatan masyarakat dari lahan kakao yang mereka miliki. Tim pengabdian pada masyarakat USU mencoba memberikan solusi dengan cara memberikan bantuan bibit tanaman tumpangsari yang berkualitas dan bersertifikat untuk meningkatkan pendapatan petani/pekebun. Selain itu juga diberikan teknologi perawatan terhadap tanaman tumpangsari dan tanaman utama yang tepat kepada kelompok tani. Dari usaha yang dilakukan ini diharapkan kelompok tani yang menjadi mitra tim dari USU ini akan menjadi pelopor dalam menghasilkan produksi kakao yang berkualitas dan juga memperoleh pendapatan sampingan dari tanaman tumpangsari.
