Abstract

ABSTRACT Percut Sei Tuan District as the largest centre of rice production in Deli Serdang Regency, must be studied its rice field irrigation system to hold out and increase rice production. The purpose of this research was to study the rice production potential in Bandar Sidoras irrigation fields in Percut Sei Tuan district Deli Serdang regency in achieving the maximum level of rice production based on sun  radiation level, time to grow rice, and rice variety. This research was also studied the ratio between irrigation field and crops field, and reliability of existing irrigation networks. In the period of 2009-2013, the results indicated that the irrigation network reliability was good enough. The average value of the actual productivity of rice was 5,63 ton/ha, the average ratio between irrigation field and crops field was 2,98 and the rice production target was 64,09%. ABSTRAK Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan sebagai daerah penghasil produksi padi terbesar di Kabupaten Deli Serdang, perlu dikaji jaringan irigasinya yang menjadi sumber air untuk meningkatkan produksi padi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji potensi produksi padi Daerah Irigasi Bandar Sidoras di Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan Kabupaten Deli Serdang  dalam aras pencapaian produksi padi yang maksimal, berdasarkan tingkat radiasi matahari, lama waktu pertumbuhan tanaman padi, serta varietas padi yang ditanam. Penelitian ini juga mengkaji nisbah luas lahan panen dengan luas lahan beririgasi, dan keandalan jaringan irigasi. Dalam kurun waktu 2009-2013 diperoleh hasil bahwa keandalan jaringan irigasi terpenuhi. Rata-rata nilai produktivitas aktual padi 5,63 ton/ha, rata-rata nilai nisbah luas panen dengan luas lahan beririgasi 2,98 dan rata-rata nilai aras pencapaian produksi padi 64,09%. Kata Kunci: padi, aras produksi, potensi produksi, jaringan irigasi.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Activated carbon is a material that has a high carbon content that can be made from organic and inorganic materials, in condition that the materials have a porous structure. The research was aimed to determine the characteristic of moisture content, ash content and pore surface area of activated carbon from coconut pulp waste as well as to improve phsycal quality of the water.The results indicated that the best concentration carbon from coconut pulp waste was by using 15 % HCl activator which produced moisture content of 6,67 %, ash content of  0,52 % and pore surface area of  25,48 mm. The application of the activated carbon by using 15 % HCl activator in water indicated that the water turbidity was 14,33 NTU, colour of the water was very clear and the water had no smell. The result showed that the produced water did reached the water quality standard. Keywords: activated carbon, coconut pulp waste, physical quality of water   ABSTRAK Arang aktif merupakan material yang memiliki kadar karbon tinggi yang dapat dibuat dari bahan organik maupun anorganik, dengan syarat bahan tersebut mempunyai struktur pori. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik kadar air, kadar abu, luas permukaan pori arang aktif ampas kelapa serta untuk meningkatkan kualitas fisik air. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa arang aktif ampas kelapa terbaik dari aktivator HCl 15 % menghasilkan kadar air 6,67 %, kadar abu 0,52 % dan diameter permukaan pori 25,48 mm. Hasil pengaplikasian arang aktif dari aktivator HCl 15 % menghasilkan nilai kekeruhan air 14,33 NTU, warna air sangat jernih dan air tidak berbau. Hasil tersebut sudah memenuhi standar mutu air bersih.   Kata kunci: arang aktif, limbah ampas kelapa, kualitas fisik air

Abstract

ABSTRACT When running farm business, farmers often do not know whether their farm will gain profit or not and how much the estimation of the profit that can be gained. Things like that happened because they are not doing business investation analysis previously or in this case farm business analysis to find out their farm feasibility. These things often are not done because farmers do not know how to do farm feasibility analysis or if they knew, it would take much time to do it manually. Decision Support System to Determine Horticultural Farm Feasibility was made so the farmers can do farm business feasibility analysis easily and quickly. Decision Support System to Determine Horticultural Farm Feasibility was made in android smartphone application. The farm analysis consisted of Break Even Point (BEP), Return Cost Ratio (R/C), Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR). Keywords: decision support system, business feasibility analysis, farm ABSTRAK   Ketika melakukan usaha tani, petani sering kali tidak mengetahui apakah usaha tani yang dilakukannya akan menghasilkan keuntungan atau tidak dan berapa perkiraan keuntungan yang dapat diperoleh. Hal ini dikarenakan petani tidak lebih dahulu melakukan analisis investasi bisnis atau dalam hal ini analisis usaha tani untuk mengetahui kelayakan usaha taninya. Sering kali hal ini tidak dilakukan karena petani tidak mengetahui cara melakukan analisis kelayakan usaha tani tersebut atau jika petani tersebut mengetahui analisis kelayakan usaha tani, maka akan memakan waktu lama jika dilakukan penghitungan manual. Sistem Pendukung Keputusan untuk Menentukan Kelayakan Usaha Budidaya Pertanian Hortikultura dibuat agar petani dapat melakukan analisis kelayakan usaha taninya secara mudah dan cepat. Sistem Pendukung Keputusan untuk Menentukan Kelayakan Usaha Budidaya Pertanian Hortikultura dibuat dalam bentuk aplikasi smartphone android. Abstract

ABSTRACT Fiber of Sansevieria has characteristics of not easily fragile, shiny, long, and potentially used as a raw material in manufacture of textiles, especially yarn. This study was aimed to make determine the physical characteristics of mother in law tongue fiber with and without the addition of NaOH. This research was conducted in March until May 2016 in the Laboratory of Agricultural Engineering, brightness level test was conducted at Laboratory of food technology, Faculty of Agriculture University of North Sumatra, Medan. Tensile strength test and test the fineness (number of threads) was conducted at Laboratory Evaluation of Textiles, College of Engineering Indonesian Islamic University, Yogyakarta. Parameters measured were tensile strength test, test the fineness (number of threads) and brightness level test. Results of the research indicated that the Sansevieria fiber produce different physical characteristics in each treatment with and without solution of NaOH. The highest result of tensile strength value of Sansevieria fibre was on the without NaOH treatment that is 144 grams. The highest result of fineness value of Sansevieria fibre was on the treatmeant with addition NaOH (10%)  that is 3,8 tex. The highest result of the brightness value of Sansevieria fibre was on the treatmeant with addition NaOH (5%)that  is 75.29%. Key words: Sansevieria, natural fiber, tensile strength, yarn. ABSTRAK   Serat Sansevieria memiliki karakteristik yang tidak mudah rapuh, mengkilat, panjang dan berpotensi digunakan sebagai bahan baku tekstil khususnya pada pembuatan benang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji karakteristik fisik serat tanaman lidah mertua dengan dan tanpa penambahan larutan NaOH. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Maret hingga Mei 2016 di Laboratorium Keteknikan Pertanian, Uji tingkat kecerahan dilakukan di Laboratorium Teknologi Pangan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan. Uji Kekuatan tarik dan kehalusan (nomor benang) dilakukan di Laboratorium Evaluasi Tekstil, Fakultas Teknik, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Yogyakarta. Parameter yang diamati adalah kekuatan tarik, kehalusan (nomor benang) dan tingkat kecerahan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa serat Sansevieria menghasilkan karakteristik fisik yang berbeda pada masing-masing perlakuan dengan dan tanpa penambahan larutan NaOH. Nilai kekuatan tarik terbesar pada serat Sansevieria terdapat pada perlakuan tanpa NaOH (0%) yaitu 144 gram. Nilai kehalusan terbesar pada serat Sansevieria terdapat pada perlakuan penambahan NaOH (10%) yaitu 3,8 tex.
