Abstract

A report from the World Economy Forum (WEF) states that the Indonesian government urges the importance of anticipating changes in the flow of technology that have an impact on all aspects of life, including economic, political, social, and cultural. Entering this era, the role of literacy culture is very important in life so that it makes the younger generation to learn it from an early age for smooth communication between countries. In addition, the loss of awareness of literacy culture is a threat to the younger generation (Tribun News, 2017). As the next generation of the nation, the author contributes the idea, namely Hero (Historical Heritage Board) as an educational game media designed in such a way by highlighting the resources in every region in Indonesia with a funny and interesting appearance. In addition, HERO is also designed using two combinations of manual and digital. It is said to be manual because it still uses a digital board and because it uses a smartphone to help apply the game. The research method uses research and development (research and development) or RnD in the field of education. The model used is ADDIE which stands for Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate. The design of this media includes the following stages: (1) needs analysis, (2) design, (3) product development, (4) implementation, (5) evaluation. Hero's goal is to improve literacy education, children's imagination power and facilitate learning. Therefore, through HERO, the younger generation of Indonesia can further optimize historical values and be ready to face the post-pandemic with a strong foundation of Indonesian history.

Abstract

This study compares the civic education systems in Hong Kong and Indonesia, analyzing their historical development, curriculum structures, and educational goals. The research employs a literature review approach, utilizing secondary sources such as academic books, peer-reviewed journals, and policy documents to compare the educational frameworks of both regions. The findings reveal that Hong Kong’s civic education has evolved within the context of its transition from British colonial rule to becoming a Special Administrative Region of China, with a focus on fostering national identity and legal compliance under the “One Country, Two Systems” framework. In contrast, Indonesia’s civic education has developed in response to its independence, emphasizing Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, and democratic values. The study identifies key differences in curriculum content, evaluation systems, and learning objectives, showing how each country’s civic education reflects its socio-political environment. The research underscores the importance of contextualizing civic education in the formation of responsible citizens who are equipped to address global challenges. This comparative study offers valuable insights for enhancing civic education curricula in both countries and globally.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of a community-based approach in managing student demonstrations that experienced limited escalation in Yogyakarta and to evaluate its effectiveness in reducing the potential for conflict. The study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design focused on the demonstration that took place in front of the Yogyakarta Regional Police Headquarters in February 2026. Data were collected through media documentation, digital observation, and literature review, and were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model. The results indicate that the community-based approach was implemented through non-repressive strategies, such as the avoidance of excessive force and the selective handling of three students who were handed over to university authorities. This approach proved capable of keeping the situation under control without triggering a broader escalation of conflict. Furthermore, community involvement through the local practice of neighborhood watch played a crucial role in promoting de-escalation of the situation through community-based social control mechanisms. Theoretically, these findings reinforce the concepts of community policing and crisis communication by emphasizing the importance of collaboration, trust, and adaptive communication. The novelty of this research lies in the identification of neighborhood watch as a local form of the community approach, demonstrating that conflict management must be contextualized within the social and cultural practices of the community.

Abstract

Differences in understanding between religions and cultures characterise the emergence of intolerance in society. These conditions can contribute to the breakdown of religious life and result in subjective interpretations of truth that disregard others' perspectives. The research method used a mixed method with a sequential exploratory model. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, literature studies (qualitative), and questionnaires (quantitative). This study aims to reveal the dynamics of cultural da'wah, the process of Muhammadiyah internalisation, and the relationship between Muhammadiyah and syncretic Islam in shaping the value of tolerance in Yogyakarta. The results of the study show several things, namely 1) there are dynamics of cultural da'wah described by the concepts of hablumminallah and hablumminannas with examples of each entity's attitude towards the night of Suro; 2) there is involvement of each entity in Muhammadiyah activities with conservative teaching materials and adaptive methods, as demonstrated by the processes of acculturation, assimilation, and accommodation in each entity's religious activities; and 3) the phenomena observed in this case study illustrate the relationship between Muhammadiyah and Syncretic Islam in shaping the value of tolerance in Yogyakarta. The relationship between the two can fulfil the indicators of the active tolerance model by being able to coexist peacefully and strive to respect diversity.
