Abstract

Xylanase can be used as an alternative material in the pulp bleaching process to reduce the use of chemicals in the paper industry. Bacillus subtilis is a type of bacteria that can produce xylanase. Xylanase characterization is needed to determine the maximum activity that will be used in the pulp bleaching process. This study aims to determine the xylanase characterization of Bacillus subtilis in terms of optimal pH, optimal temperature, carbon source, and optimal nitrogen source. The research material used was a pure culture of Bacillus subtilis bacteria obtained from the Biochemistry Laboratory of the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Brawijaya University. The characterization of the xylanase enzyme was carried out using the RAL method. The results of characterization of the determination of pH, temperature, carbon source, and nitrogen xylanase source from Bacillus subtilis showed that the optimum conditions for xylanase were at pH 7 with a maximum activity of 5.085 U / mL; the optimum temperature at 40oC with activity 8.017 U/mL; maximum carbon source at a concentration of 15% (b/v) with activity 7.517 U/mL; and the optimum source of nitrogen with a concentration of 0.17% (b/v) with an activity of 4.815 U/mL.

Abstract

Pelatihan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis online merupakan upaya untuk mengembangkan kemampuan guru dalam merencanakan pembelajaran. Perangkat pembelajaran di SDN 3 Ngasem Kecamatan Ngajum Kabupaten Malang masih perlu ditingkatkan dalam membuat dan merencanakan kegiatan belajar mengajar di sekolah terutama untuk kegiatan belajar mengajar selama masa pandemi. Pelatihan ini merupakan bagian dari pengabdian dengan melibatkan 6 orang guru. Teknik pelatihan ini dilaksanakan secara online menggunakan aplikasi video conference yaitu Gmeet. Pada pelatihan tersebut model Focus Group Discussion (FGD) dilakukan dengan metode diskusi dan praktik agar guru secara terbuka menyampaikan kendala ketika melaksanakan praktik pembuatan perangkat pembelajaran. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa guru berkemampuan untuk membuat perangkat pembelajarn yang seusai dengan kurikulum yang diberikan ke sekolah selama masa pandemi.

Abstract

Mahasiswa baru di kampus yang berbasis pendidikan vokasi memiliki background pendidikan yang berbeda. Kebanyakan dari mereka berasal dari sekolah menengah atas atau sederajat yang jurusannya bukan IPA. Hal ini menyebabkan mata kuliah Mikrobiologi Dasar di semester satu termasuk ke dalam mata kuliah yang sulit dipahami oleh mahasiswa dengan background di luar IPA. Selain itu, minimnya lembar kerja mahasiswa yang bisa mengasah daya pikir mereka adalah penyebab rendahnya hasil belajar pada mata kuliah ini. Hasil observasi menunjukkan banyak mahasiswa yang cukup kesulitan dalam memahami materi nutrisi mikroorganisme. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa (LKM) pada materi Nutrisi Mikroorganisme berbasis High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS). Model pengembangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 4-D dari Thiagarajan dengan mengadopsi tiga tahapan yaitu Define (Pendahuluan), Design (Perencanaan) dan Develop (Pengembangan). Hasil pengembangan menunjukkan bahwa 78% LKM dinilai layak. Kebahasaan LKM sebesar 72,5% dikategorikan layak dan penyajiannya sebesar 76,6% dikategorikan layak. Kegrafikan LKM sebesar 82,5% dikategorikan sangat layak. Hasil uji keterbacaan dari LKM adalah 71,78% dengan kriteria layak dan respon mahasiswa dalam menggunakan LKM, 90% menyatakan sangat baik.

Abstract

Biological evaluation tools are very important. The current reality is that biology evaluation tools are rarely used in learning because of limited tools, materials and time. One of the efforts made is to develop a computer/PC-based KUMAL (Kuis Animalia) game application. The aim is to determine the feasibility of the KUMAL game developed as a learning evaluation tool on animalia material. The research was conducted using Research and Development (R&D) research and development methods. The samples in this study were 3 material experts, 3 media experts and 3 IT experts. The validation results from this study are 84% with a very feasible category from the material validator, 83% with a very feasible category from the media validator and 83% with a very feasible category from the IT validator. The conclusion of this study is that the KUMAL game is feasible to be used as an evaluation tool for biology learning in animalia material for class X SMA/MA.

Abstract

Pelatihan KIE bertujuan supaya masyarakat pada ibu-ibu rumah tangga kelompok pengajian majelis taklim dapat hidup bersih adalah terhindar dari penyakit hewan zoonosis, artinya menular dari hewan ke manusia dan manusia ke manusia yaitu produk hasil hewan seperti telur, daging dan susu. Pelaksanaan dilakukan menggunakan metode presentasi dilanjutkan dengan peragaan produk hewan yang terkena penyakit dimana ibu-ibu dapat paham tanda/ciriciri dari telur, daging dan susu yang terkontaminasi. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan dan mengumpulkan data yang diperoleh melalui pengisian angket yang telah dibagikan. Kegiatan menunjukkan dari dua puluh empat peserta dengan presentase 80% belum paham produk asal hewan seperti telur, daging dan susu terutama yang terkontaminasi tanda-tanda penyakit menular bagi ibu-ibu rumah tangga kelompok majelis taklim. Terdapat 85% peserta tidak mengetahui cara memilih produk asal hewan terutama daging, telur, susu dan sisanya 15% sudah mengetahui mengenai ciri-ciri produk asal hewan yang tidak layak dikonsumsi, sedangkan presentase tersebut jauh berbeda setelah adanya pelatihan pada masyarakat kelompok ibu ibu rumah tangga kelompok pengajian manjelis taklim di Kota Blitar dimana sebanyak 2% peserta tetap tidak mengetahui ciri-ciri produk asal hewan yang terkontaminasi penyakit menular dan sisanya sebayak 98% sudah mengetahui dan memahami tanda-tanda telur, daging,dan susu yang tercemar dan tidak layak dikonsumsi masyarakat.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the effect of RUSA (Ruang Siswa), an Android-based learning media with appypie application, and figure out the validity of the media to enhance motivation and learning outcome of grade X students in Animalia material. The method of this research was Pre-experimental. The type of (R&D). This development model applied Borg & Gall procedure which was limited up to the seventh step, that is, product revision. Based on the hypothetical test of the effect of RUSA (Ruang Siswa) on students’ motivation using t test, and the effect of RUSA on learning outcome using Ancova test, it was obtained that the significance value of RUSA (Ruang Siswa) was 0.000. Since the significance value was 0.000 < 0.05, H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. Based on the result of validity test by media experts, the validity percentage was 74.50% classified as valid criteria, Material expert was 77.03% with classified as valid criteria, Language expert was 83.33% classified as very valid criteria. In addition, the data from students showed the percentage of 89.14% classified as valid criteria, and from the Biology teachers was 75.33% classified as valid criteria. Therefore, it is clear that there was an effect of using RUSA (Ruang Siswa) on students’ motivation and learning outcome. Referring to the validity result, RUSA (Ruang Siswa) is valid to use.

Abstract

This study aims to determine efforts to improve process skills and understanding of the concept of nutrition science courses using the Outdoor Study method, as well as improving process skills and understanding of nutrition science concepts using the Outdoor Study method. This type of research is CAR (Classroom Action Research) model of Kemmis and Taggart whose steps consist of planning, implementing and observing, reflecting. Data collection techniques using observation, questionnaires, interviews, concept understanding tests and documentation. The data analysis technique used qualitative analysis. The research subjects were students of the fifth semester of the Biology Education study program at the Islamic University of Balitar, Blitar. The results showed that the increase in learning social skills and understanding of the concept of Nutrition Science was shown from the observations of learning social skills in the first cycle of 67.78%, increasing to 78.89% in the second cycle. The results of the learning social skills questionnaire in the first cycle were 71.46%, increasing to 77.40% in the second cycle. The average result of the percentage of social skills in the first cycle was 69.62% and 78.14% in the second cycle. The results of the assessment to determine the understanding of the concept, namely the post-test results in the first cycle obtained an average value of 74.33 with 21 students (70%) completed and 9 students (30%) incomplete. Cycle II obtained an average grade of 79.83 with 25 students (83.33%) completed and 5 students (16.67%) incomplete.

Abstract

Mother’s nutritional knowledge determines all that the children eats. Mother’s who have a good knowledge of nutrition will form a good balanced nutrition behavior for children. The behavior will affect the nutriet intake and nutritional status of children. The purpose of the study is to know the correlation mother’s knowledge and attitudes on balanced nutrition with children’s nutritional status in Desa Sukosewu village Gandusari district. This study employed Analytical Survey Research with Cross Sectional Design. The study was carried out on Juni 2022 in Sukosewu village. The collecting data mothers’s knowledge on balanced nutrition and mother’s attitude on balance nutrition used questioner, and to collect child nutritional status data using Z- score with BB/U indikator. This study involved 68 respondents. Based on bivariate analysis were tested statistically Somers’d test, the test of the correlation mother’s knowledge and attitudes on balanced nutrition with children’s nutritional status in Sukosewu village Gandusari district obtained by value p = 0.000 which shows the correlation of mother’s knowledge on balanced nutrition with children’s nutritional status in Sukosewu village Gandusari district. On the test of attitudes on balanced nutrition with children’s nutritional status in kindergartens Sukosewu village Gandusari district obtained by value p = 0.000 shows that there is correlation attitudes on balanced nutrition with children’s nutritional status in Sukosewu village Gandusari district.

Abstract

The attractive appearance of soap and its various benefits make it the choice of consumers. Transparent solid soap had a transparent appearance, so it was more attractive and produced softer foam than other soaps. This research aimed to create a good combination by utilizing tofu whey waste as a transparent soap ingredient with butterfly pea flower extract (Clitoria ternatea L.) to produce environmentally friendly soap. Utilization of tofu whey waste as an alternative to sucrose and butterfly pea flower extract as the active substance triclosan from natural ingredients that contain antibacterials and antioxidants. The results of this research showed that the addition of butterfly pea flower extract produces a yellowish-white soap preparation, with a dense texture, not transparent, and a distinctive slightly sweet soap aroma. The characteristics of soap preparations from whey waste with the addition of butterfly pea flower extract had a pH of 10.7, foam stability of 70%, water content of 29%, and did not irritate.

Abstract

One way to develop learning media is create a catalog based on the local potential of pineapple plantations in Blitar. The aim of this work is to find out the usability of the compiled catalog as a teaching tool for biodiversity material. This study uses the Research and Development (RnD) research method referred to Sugiyono (2017), starting with potential problem analysis, data collection, product design, design validation, and then design review. The tools used by the researchers consisted of validation surveys of media, materials and language experts. The data collected by the researchers were analyzed using quantitative descriptive data analysis techniques. Based on the results of validity tests by media experts, 93% feasibility was achieved with highly feasible criteria, 94% with material experts, and 89% with language experts. The conclusion is the catalog of pineapple pollinator diversity in Blitar feasibility was achieved as a teaching tool.
