Abstract

The Market demand for maru still comes from natural catches. Collectors use maggots as a feed that supports the growth and life of maru fish. However, the chitin content and production costs of Maggot are obstacles in using Maggot as the main feed. This study aims to determine the combination of Maggot and artificial feed that provides the best growth rate and survival for maru. Seed maintenance lasts for 90 days. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 treatments, namely control (100% Maggot), Treatment A (Maggot 75% + Pellet 25%), Treatment B (Maggot 50% + Pellet 50%), Treatment C (Maggot 25% + Pellet 75%). The results showed that giving Maggot 50% + Pellet 50% was the best combination of feed to increase the growth and life of maru fish. The absolute length measurement of maru on 50% Maggot + 50% Pellet administration was 8.18 cm, and the absolute weight was 16.5 grams. The highest survival rate of maru fish reaches 70%.

Abstract

Albino Silver Arowana (Osteoglossum bicirrhosum) is one of the most popular freshwater ornamental fish commodities alongside Super Red Arowana fish. This is because the price is affordable compared to the original Indonesian Arowana type. Albino Silver Arowana cultivation activities in Indonesia have begun to develop, but information on suitable feeds to support performance is poorly studied. This study aimed to determine the right type of feed to provide the best growth rate and survival rate for albino silver Arowana seeds. The albino silver Arowana seeds used in this study had an average size of 7. cm as many as 72 individuals. Seed maintenance was carried out for 40 days. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD), with 4 treatments and 3 replications. Treatment A used Kroto (Oecophylla smaragdina), treatment B used rebon shrimp (Mysis relicta), treatment C used yellow mealworm (Tenebrio Molitor), and treatment K used bloodworm (Chironomus sp.). Seed growth rate data were collected at the end and beginning of maintenance. Observation of the survival rate of seeds was carried out every day. The data obtained were tabulated and statistical analysis was performed (ANOVA). The results showed that the sources given in treatment K and treatment A had the highest growth compared to those in treatment B and treatment C.

Abstract

Fenomena kanibalisme pada ikan lele menjadi salah satu kendala dalam segmen pembenihan ikan lele yang menyebabkan tingginya mortalitas pada stadia larva dan benih. Kematian akibat kanibalisme dikuantifikasi sebagai penyumbang kematian lebih dari separuh kematian total selama masa pemeliharaan. Kanibalisme pada benih ikan lele diawali oleh tingkah laku agonistik yang merupakan indikasi perilaku agresif. Penggunaan Estradiol-17β melalui mekanisme negative feed-back diketahui mampu menurunkan perilaku agresif yang menyebabkan tindakan kanibalisme benih ikan lele. Selain itu, suhu menjadi faktor lingkungan yang memengaruhi tingkah laku ikan. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimental menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap faktorial. Ada dua faktor yang diuji dalam penelitian yaitu faktor pertama adalah dosis hormon estradiol 17β (0 estradiol-17β mg.kg-1, 20 estradiol-17β mg.kg-1 dan 50 estradiol-17β mg.kg-1); dan faktor kedua adalah suhu media pemeliharaan (28 °C dan 31 °C). Hormon diberikan dengan metode coating menggunakan sprayer melalui pakan komersil. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa pemberian dosis 50 mg.kg-1 pada suhu 28 °C memiliki jumlah benih dengan ukuran luka yang lebih kecil dan perilaku agonistik dengan serangan di bagian perut dan ekor lebih rendah dibandingkan perlakuan lain. Hasil penelitian tersebut dapat simpulkan bahwa penggunaan dosis 50 mg.kg-1 pada suhu 28 °C dapat menekan tingkat agresivitas dan kanibalisme.

Abstract

Freshwater lobster (LAT) has been widely cultivated as a commodity for ornamental shrimp and consumption. In order to maintain the stock of seeds, it is necessary to have a hatchery. One of the problems that arose in hatchery activities was gonad maturation, especially feed, because sufficient nutrients can accelerate the maturity of the broodstock gonad. Currently, the main feed for broodstock is in the form of commercial pellets, which are still universal for various types of shrimp, and pellets are not yet available specifically to stimulate the gonad maturation of LAT broodstock. The proposed solution is to determine the type of substitution for pellet feed with similar effectiveness. The aimed of this study was to obtain a type of substitute feed that can replace pellets with the same or more effectiveness in the rearing process of freshwater crayfish so that the broodstock can be used to accelerate gonadal maturity and the spawning process. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications: (A) Acetes indicus, (B) Pomacea canaliculata, (C) Tubifex sp., and (D) Pellet Feed (control treatment). The results of this study after the Anova analysis concluded that all treatments had a significant effect on the percentage of the number of brooders laying eggs in the first to the third week. After further Tukey’s test was carried out, it was found that treatment C significantly gave the same effect as treatment D as the control treatment, so it is recommended that Tubifex sp. as a substitute for pelleted feed with the application of plant-based feeds.

Abstract

Ikan toman sebagai salah satu ikan lokal bernilai ekonomis tinggi kini telah beradaptasi dengan pakan buatan. Guna meningkatkan laju pertumbuhan ikan toman diperlukan suplemen atau probiotik. Spesies bakteri probiotik lactobacillus sp didapatkan dari lauratan probiotik dari berbagai merek dagang di pasaran. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan metode RAL, dengan 3 perlakuan 3 ulangan dan satu perlakuan kontrol. Tiap perlakuan menggunakan pakan buatan dengan dosis 10 ml/kg pakan dengan spesies bakteri lactobacillus sp pada Perlakuan A yaitu Lactobacillus acidophilus, perlakuan B yaitu Lactobacillus casei , perlakuan C yaitu Lactobacillus acetobacer, dan Kontrol tanpa pemberian probiotik. Pemberian pakan dilakukan 3 kali sehari, pagi, siang dan sore hari dengan lama pengamatan dilakukan selama 60 hari. Sampling pertumbuhan dilakukan setiap 15 hari sedangkan pengamtan kelangsungan hidup dilakukan tiap hari. Data yang diambil dan dianalisis meliputi laju pertumbuhan mencakup mutlak dan relatif, tingkat kelangsungan hidup, dan FCR. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan analisis sidik ragam Anova. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukan laju pertumbuhan dan nilai FCR yang terbaik terdapat pada Perlakuan A dengan laju pertumbuhan berat mutlak 19,88 gram dan laju pertumbuhan berat relatif 29,53% serta nilai FCR 3,71, selanjutnya diikuti oleh perlakuan B dengan laju pertumbuhan berat mutlak 19,56 dan relatif 29,05% serta nilai FCR 3,81. Urutan berikutnya perlakuan C dengan laju pertumbuhan berat mutlak 19,24 gram dan relative 28,54% serta nilai FCR 3,89. Kontrol memberikan laju pertumbuhan yang terendah dibandingkan dengan 3 perlakuan lainnya dengan laju pertumbuhan berat mutlak 19,22 gram dan relatif 28,51% serta nilai FCR 3.96. Perlakuan pemberian ragam spesies bakteri probiotik tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap tingkat kelangsungan hidup ikan toman, dimana nilai prosentase kelangsungan hidup selama pemeliharaan berkisar antara 83-86%.
