Abstract

UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang tries to be a World-Class University, one of the efforts to realize it is by a Multilingual Program course for the academic community which is mandated by the Center Language Development. This course requires relevant material to develop character participants and to maximal the learning and teaching process. The purpose of this study is to describe the stages of developing bilingual communication-based materials. The development model used is the ADDIE model. The data analysis used is descriptive qualitative analysis technique and quantitative statistical analysis. The result is the development of bilingual communication-based materials with the ADDIE model with 5 stages, namely: (1) the analysis stage is student analysis, competency analysis, and material suitability analysis; (2) the design stage is compiling Arabic and English materials based on bilingual communication with the theme of daily life; (3) the development stage is validating and improving the product; (4) implementation stage is a limited trial; and (5) evaluation stage includes formative evaluation with the results of the assessment of Arabic material experts 85.3% (very good), English material experts 85.3% (very good), language learning design experts 78.4% (good), and the final result of the academic community's learning with an average score of 81 (very good).

Abstract

This study investigates the role of digital media in Arabic language learning, particularly examining how digital literacy transitions into communicative competence. In the contemporary digital era, technology integration is essential for enhancing instructional effectiveness and efficiency. Despite its potential, challenges in implementing digital media within Arabic language education remain underexplored. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach, the research was conducted at the Language Development Center (PPB) of Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University (UIN) Malang. Participants included lecturers from the Arabic Language Education Study Program (PKPBA) and students from classes SY 1, HM 1, and TR 1. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and direct classroom observations guided by structured interview and observation instruments. The data were then analyzed thematically to identify patterns related to digital media usage in Arabic instruction. Findings reveal that digital media significantly increases student interactivity, participation, and motivation. Technology-supported learning environments encourage more dynamic communication practices, supporting the development of communicative competence. However, challenges persist, particularly regarding unequal access to technology and lecturers’ readiness to integrate digital tools effectively. The study concludes that digital media holds substantial potential to enhance Arabic communicative competence when supported by proper infrastructure and professional development. It recommends systematic lecturer training and improved technological facilities to optimize digital media-based Arabic learning.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are increasingly being integrated into language learning; however, empirical evidence regarding their use in Arabic grammar and translation (Nahwu wa Tarjamah/I‘rab) learning remains limited, particularly in Islamic higher education contexts. Existing studies have predominantly focused on general language learning applications, leaving insufficient understanding of how AI-supported platforms facilitate the learning of complex grammatical analysis and translation skills. This study aims to identify the AI-based platforms employed in I‘rab learning and examine their impact on students’ learning experiences and outcomes. A quasi-qualitative design was employed involving 30 fifth-semester students enrolled in the Nahwu course at STAIN Mandailing Natal. Data were collected through classroom observations, questionnaires, and in-depth interviews and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings reveal that students utilized four categories of AI-supported resources: digital learning repositories, generative AI applications, machine translation tools, and Arabic grammar support websites. The integration of these technologies enhanced students’ awareness of digital learning resources, promoted autonomous learning practices, increased learning motivation, and received positive instructional support from lecturers. Furthermore, students demonstrated strong academic performance, achieving a mean final course score of 88.2 (A). This study contributes to the growing literature on AI-assisted Arabic language learning by providing empirical evidence of AI’s role as a digital scaffolding tool in facilitating the acquisition of advanced Arabic grammatical and translation competencies.

Abstract

Reading skills require Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) in student which is very important to achieve success in this competency. With SRL, students will know what strategies they must do to achieve these competencies. The purpose of this article is to reveal: 1) Correlation between Self-Regulated Learning with student reading skills. This article used quantitative method. The study sample consisted of 168 students of the Arabic Language Study Program and Literature in Malang. The research data was obtained from questionnaire, and test. The quantitative data analysis method uses Pearson correlation analysis. The results showed that there was a correlation between Self-Regulated Learning and reading skills with a correlation coefficient category of 0.357 which was categorized as strong enough. The results of the Self-Regulated Learning variable indicate that implementing aspect is the dominant aspect that can be seen. Of the highest loading factor value. The results of this study provide input for Arabic language teachers to train their students to think critically in reading activities so that they are motivated to have independence in producing messages from reading.

Abstract

The lack of technology to make practical Arabic learning evaluation is a concerning problem for researchers. The purpose of the study is to test the effectiveness of Kahoot! in the daily evaluation of Arabic lessons for students at Islamic Senior High School 1 Tapin in Indonesia. This study uses field research with a quantitative approach. The desain used is quasi-experimental with the pretest-posttest control group. The population of this study is students in eleventh grade, with a total of 190. The sample is taken using purposive sampling, and 58 students are divided into experimental and control group. The data collection method is a test. The data analysis to answer the research hypothesis is the Mann-Whitney U test. The results show that the posttest average score from the experimental group was 83.62 and the control group was 73.79, which means that the experimental group's Arabic learning outcome is higher than the control group's. On the other hand, the results of the Mann-Whitney U test show Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) 0.013 <0.05 means that the hypothesis Ha is accepted, and H0 is rejected. It can be concluded that using Kahoot! in the daily evaluation of Arabic learning effectively enhances student learning outcomes.
