Abstract

Synthesis and preliminary evaluation of 3,3’-dihydroxy-4,4’-dimethoxydibenzylidenacetone (DDB) as sunscreen and antioxidant have been successfully conducted. The compound was prepared throught acid catalyzed condensation reaction between vanillin and aceton using saturated HCl solution in glacial acetic acid. Pre-evaluation of sunscreen active compound candidate was performed by determining electronic absorbance profile, lamdamax, e, lamda c, UVA/UVB ratio, and photostability. While antioxidant activity test was performed using DPPH radical scavenger method. Based on the results obtained, the compound obtained has very good protective effect in UVA regions with high antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Pandemi Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) sangat berdampak pada penurunan berbagai sektor perekonomian seperti perdagangan, pariwisata dan investasi. Pandemi Covid-19 membuat banyak orang tidak mempunyai penghasilan sehingga sulit memenuhi kebutuhan hidupnya. Hal ini menyebabkan menurunnya perhatian masyarakat terhadap kesehatan. Situasi yang serius ini memerlukan penanganan khusus untuk memutus mata rantai penyebaran Covid-19 dan menerapkan adaptasi kebiasaan baru dalam menghadapi era new normal. Program KKN Tematik ini dilaksanakan di Kelurahan Rawa Buaya Kecamatan Cengkareng Jakarta Barat, dengan tujuan meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat di bidang kesehatan untuk memutus mata rantai penyebaran Covid-19. Metode yang digunakan dalam program KKN ini adalah memberikan edukasi secara langsung dengan turun ke rumah-rumah warga berkoordinasi dengan Satgas Covid-19 dan metode edukasi tidak langsung dengan penyampaian informasi melalui media sosial. Hasil dari kegiatan KKN ini adalah bertambahnya pemahaman masyarakat tentang pentingnya perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat (PHBS), posyandu dan vaksinasi, pencegahan demam berdarah (DBD), dan manfaat tanaman obat keluarga (TOGA).

Abstract

Pada masyarakat etnis Betawi dikenal minuman ‘Bir Pletok’ yang sering dihidangkan dalam acara hajatan, acara penyambutan tamu, souvenir dan lain-lain. Minuman Bir Pletok tidak mengandung alkohol malahan baik untuk kesehatan karena mengandung bahan-bahan tanaman yang berkhasiat obat. Beberapa khasiat dari Bir Pletok adalah melancarkan peredaran darah, melindungi sistem pencernaan, menghangatkan badan, mengobati masuk angin, mengatasi sariawan, meredakan kram, meredakan migrain dan mengurangi gejala reumatik. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan pada mitra komunitas UMKM Bir Pletok Kedoya Selatan Jakarta Barat, dengan tujuan memberikan edukasi kepada masyarakat komunitas UMKM Bir Pletok Kedoya Selatan Jakarta Barat tentang proses produksi minuman herbal Bir Pletok sesuai HACCP/CPOTB dan standar Badan POM RI. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah memberikan edukasi dalam bentuk pendampingan yang terdiri atas penyuluhan dan pelatihan mengenai proses pengolahan Bir Pletok yang baik untuk mendapatkan produk Bir Pletok yang bermutu tinggi. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah peningkatan pengetahuan peserta mengenai pengembangan mutu minuman herbal Bir Pletok sebesar 95% dan mulai menerapkan pengetahuan yang didapatkan dalam kegiatan produksinya

Abstract

Synthesis and preliminary study of C-4-methoxyphenyl[4]pyrogallaryl dodecacinnamate were successfully performed. Synthesis of target molecule was conducted in two steps including preparation of calix[4]pyrogallarene derivative, and O-cinnamoylation of the calix[4]pyrogallarene. The product obtained was pre-evaluated as sunscreen active compound through UV spectroscopy (UV absorbance profile, maximum wavelength, and molar absorption coefficient), and photostability tests. The results of evaluation indicated dominant absorbance in UVC/UVB region with exceptionally high molar absorption coefficient. In other side, target molecule has relatively low photostability in which the UV absorbance decreased 47% after 30 minutes irradiation. The main factor for this lowering was due to the close distance between each cinnamate groups.

Abstract

Self-medication is the treatment performed by patient for diseases that are self-recognized using medicines that are considered safe and effective without any diagnosis and prescription by professionals. Excessive practice of self-medication will have negative effects for the patient such as excessive drug abuse, delay in getting medical treatment, etc. This students’ community service aimed to socialize responsible self-medication practices to the community in RW.04, Meruya Utara, West Jakarta by using family medicinal plants. This series of activities were begun with counseling and training on the process of cultivating, harvesting, and post-harvest processing of family medicinal plants, and followed by counseling on self-medication by using family medicinal plants. Participants' understanding was evaluated by using a questionnaire filled out before and after the activities. The data obtained from the questionnaire showed that the participants have better understanding in practicing self-medication by using family medicinal plants with the understanding level of >70%.

Abstract

Research to determine the influence of the principal's visionary leadership factors, school culture and teacher achievement motivation on teacher performance. Associative type of quantitative descriptive research method. By using a multiple regression analysis approach. The research was conducted at 8 driving elementary schools in West Aceh Regency. The research results found (a). The level of achievement of the school principal's visionary leadership has reached 93.12%, the level of achievement of school culture that is appropriate and implemented jointly has reached 86.42%. Meanwhile, the principal's assessment stated that teacher achievement motivation was in the very good category, reaching 93.62%, and the teacher's performance level reached 92.29% of ideal expectations. (b) The results of multiple regression analysis conclude that the principal's visionary leadership, school culture and teacher achievement motivation partially have a positive effect on performance, (c). Based on correlation and determination analysis, it is proven that there is a very close relationship and the three factors are R = 0.764. And based on the coefficient of determination, the contribution of the principal's visionary leadership, school culture and teacher achievement motivation to teacher performance is 58.4%

Abstract

Tanaman sarang semut (Myrmecodia erinaceae Becc.) merupakan tanaman herbal asli Papua yang diketahui mengandung fenol, flavonoid dan tanin. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji total fenol, total flavanoid dan aktivitas antioksidan senyawa ekstrak etanol 80%, fraksi air, fraksi etil asetat, fraksi n- butanol, fraksi n- heksana tanaman sarang semut yang berasal dari Wamena Timika Papua. Tanaman sarang semut (Myrmecodia erinaceae Becc.) diekstraksi secara maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 80% kemudian difraksi menggunakan etil asetat, n-heksan dan n-butanol. Hasil ekstrak dan fraksi kemudian diuji kandungan total fenol, kandungan total flavanoid dan aktivitas antioksidan. Hasil pengujian menunjukan hasil total fenol pada ekstrak etanol 80%, fraksi air, fraksi etil asetat, fraksi n-butanol, fraksi n-heksan yaitu berturut – turut sebesar 809,27 ± 17,52 mg GAE/g, 704,79 ± 8,07 mg GAE/g, 726,24 ± 35,76 mg GAE/g, 586,68 ± 33,70 mg GAE/g, 254,49 ± 36,97 mg GAE/g. Pengujian terhadap kandungan total flavanoid dengan menggunakan pereaksi AlCl3. Hasil pengujian menunjukan hasil total flavanoid pada ekstrak etanol 80%, fraksi air, fraksi etil asetat, fraksi n-butanol, fraksi n-heksan yaitu sebesar 109,28 ± 2,53 mg QE/g, 93,36 ± 6,81 mg QE/g, 68,22 ± 1,32 mg QE/g, 78,83 ± 4,16 mg QE/g, 16,04 ± 0,25 mg QE/g. Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan dengan metode DPPH dengan pembanding vitamin C. Aktivitas antioksidan diperoleh IC50 ekstrak etanol 80%, fraksi air, fraksi etil asetat, fraksi n- butanol, fraksi n- heksana dan vitamin C berturut-turut sebesar 6,589 ppm, 14,109 ppm, 14,947 ppm, 10,742 ppm, 66,412 ppm dan 14,932 ppm. Berdasarkan hasil IC50, ekstrak etanol 80% tanaman sarang semut menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan sangat kuat

Abstract

Cancer and malaria are two fatal diseases found in Indonesia over the past several years. Therefore, researchers are trying their best to find new anticancer and antimalarial agents. In the present work, we evaluated five xanthone-fatty acid hybrids, i.e., xanthyl laurate (XL), xanthyl myristate (XM), xanthyl palmitate (XP), xanthyl stearate (XS), and xanthyl oleate (XO), as novel anticancer and antimalarial agents. The cytotoxicity assay towards NIH3T3 reveals that xanthone-fatty acid hybrids showed a selectivity index up to 282.08, demonstrating their non-toxic profile. The MTT assay found that XO yielded stronger breast anticancer activity than doxorubicin as the positive control. All xanthone-fatty acid hybrids exhibited moderate antimalarial activity with IC50 values of 24.24–87.57 µM, lower than that of chloroquine diphosphate as the positive control (4.26 µM). As the best anticancer agent for breast cancer, the mode of action of XO was further studied by computational studies. The molecular docking results showed the binding energy against the HER2 protein was −45.73 kJ/mol through a hydrogen bond with Lys753. This hydrogen bond remained stable until the end of the molecular dynamics simulations for 100 ns. These findings highlight the potential application of XO as a new drug candidate for breast cancer treatment.
