Abstract

The aging process causes physical and psychological changes in a person, including weakness of the pelvic muscles resulting in urinary incontinence. The impact of urinary incontinence is that it can reduce the quality of life of the elderly due to feelings of shame and low self-esteem due to the inability to hold urine. Kegel exercises are a non-pharmacological effort to treat incontinence. The aim of Kegel exercises is to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles so that they can overcome urinary incontinence. Health promotion and education about Kegel exercises is still limited to the general public. Posyandu activities for the elderly are still limited to weighing, measuring blood pressure and regular general health checks by the Community Health Center. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the potential of health cadres and the elderly regarding Kegel exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. The planned solution is through health education regarding Kegel exercises for the elderly. This activity was carried out at the Posyandu for the Elderly in Sidodadi village. The target of this activity is 40 elderly people who are members of the Elderly Posyandu. Before giving the material, 5 people knew about Kegel Exercises, and 28 people did not know about Kegel Exercises. After providing the material, 21 people knew and understood how to do Kegel exercises and 13 people still did not understand Kegel exercises. This shows an increase in elderly knowledge about Kegel exercises.

Abstract

The Kedungan village government has set a target to reduce the prevalence of stunting from 19% in 2023 to 11% in 2024. Various interventions have been implemented to address stunting, including providing supplementary food for stunted infants and pregnant women. Additionally, Kedungan village, in collaboration with Aisyiyah University of Surakarta, has conducted a community service program to empower posyandu cadres and establish adolescent posyandu centers. The objective of this program is to create adolescent posyandu centers as platforms for promoting and educating about stunting prevention among adolescents. Methods employed include focus group discussions, socialization of adolescent posyandu concepts, training on adolescent posyandu management, and activity mentoring. The outcomes of this community service are: 1) a successful focus group discussion leading to the decision to establish a community-funded adolescent posyandu; 2) successful socialization of adolescent posyandu concepts and the election of its management; 3) training for the elected management on posyandu management; and 4) three months of continuous mentoring for adolescent posyandu activities. The output of this community service is the formation of an active and sustainable adolescent posyandu that conducts activities such as addressing adolescent anemia and providing education on early marriage to prevent stunting. In conclusion, the community service program has been successfully implemented, resulting in the establishment of an adolescent posyandu with 45 members which has been operating regularly for four months.
