Abstract

This research was conducted in Tanjung Kedabu Village, Rangsang Pesisir Sub-District, Meranti Archipelago District. It addresses to the parents of drop-out children and the children themselves in Akit tribe. The aim was to find out the cause of school dropouts and the views of parents towards Akit children who dropped out of school in Tanjung Kedabu Village. This research is a survey research using descriptive qualitative methods, data collection by means of interviews, observation, and documentation. The number of informants in this study was 10 people consisting of 4 parents of the Akit tribe whose children were dropped-out of school, 4 children of the Akit tribe who had dropped out of school, the headman of Tanjung Kedabu village and teacher in the village of Tanjung Kedabu. The results showed that the causes of school dropouts were divided into two, namely internal causes such as low interest and willingness of children to go to school, schools were considered unattractive and inability to take lessons while external causes were family economy, parental attention and playing environment. The views of parents of Akit tribes in the village of Tanjung Kedabu towards the dropped-out students can be seen from several views, namely the knowledge, needs, pleasure or hobbies of a person and habits or patterns of daily life. Keywords: School Dropouts, Causes, Views

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini yakni (1) untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari model pembelajaran problem based learning terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas XI IIS SMAN 3 Surabaya, (2) klasifikasi berpikir kritis siswa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen semu dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada dua kelas yaitu kelas XI IIS 3 dan kelas XI IIS 4. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu tes essay untuk mengukur kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang kemudian dianalisis dengan uji t (independent sample t-test). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) model pembelajaran problem based learning memiliki pengaruh pada kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang ditunjukkan pada uji t yaitu 0,000 < 0,05. (2) Tingkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis kedua kelas mengalami peningkatan dari kritis ke sangat kritis. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran problem based learning berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas XI IIS SMAN 3 Surabaya dan kemampuan berpikir kritis kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol. Kata Kunci: problem based learning, kemampuan berpikir kritis.

Abstract

Education is a fundamental aspect in shaping the future generation of the nation, including in overcoming social problems such as ignorance and poverty. Through formal, non-formal, and informal education, individuals can develop their quality and capacity, including in terms of morals and religious values. Al-Hasanah Al-Qur'an Education Park (TPQ) in Semarang is one of the non-formal education institutions that aims to instill moral and religious values from an early age. This study uses a qualitative design to analyze teaching methods, parents' roles, challenges and solutions in the learning process at TPQ Al-Hasanah. Data were collected through direct observation, interviews with teachers, students and parents, and related documentation. The results show that teaching methods such as collective recitation of prayers, recitation of the Qur'an, and memorization of short surahs, accompanied by emotional support and parental involvement, are essential for the effectiveness of the learning process. However, challenges such as limited facilities, student absenteeism, and lack of parental support need to be addressed through the implementation of clear teaching methods, improved teacher competencies, and improved facilities. This research is expected to make a significant contribution to understanding the effectiveness of religious and moral learning programs and provide suggestions for improving the quality of education at TPQ Al-Hasanah.

Abstract

Numerous elementary students continue to face challenges in developing reading proficiency, particularly regarding text comprehension and reading fluency. These difficulties frequently stem from inadequate learning motivation and conventional teaching approaches that fail to engage students. This research aims to examine theoretically how interactive pedagogical strategies can serve as effective solutions for addressing literacy barriers in elementary education. The study employs a comprehensive literature review methodology, systematically collecting and analyzing relevant academic sources including peer-reviewed journals and educational publications. Findings indicate that interactive learning approaches, including educational gaming, collaborative small-group activities, and visual media integration, significantly enhance student engagement and reading comprehension outcomes. These methodologies foster dynamic learning environments that promote active student participation throughout the educational process. Consequently, interactive pedagogical approaches are strongly recommended as viable alternatives for effectively addressing reading difficulties among elementary school populations.
