Abstract

Isolation, identification and bioactivity test of nonpolar compunds has been conducted on n-hexane extract sponge Haliclona (Reniera) fascigera of the island Samalona, Makassar, South Sulawesi. Isolation techniques consist of maceration, partition, fractionation using 2 steps using vacuum column chromatography and flash column chromatography and also purification step. Identification of isolate was analyzed with TLC, FTIR, GC-MS, and 1H NMR. The research result was obtained isolate as much as 4 mg and clear solid form. FTIR analysis indicate functional group OH, CH2, CH3, C=O, =CH and C-O. Identification of spot TLC under UV light and spotting solvent show that the spot was active on UV long and short waves and dark brown with cerium sulphate. The results show that isolate A contain aliphatic and alcohol compounds. Bioactivity test results indicate that these isolate A be able to inhibit the growth of bacteria Staphylococus aureus with inhibition zone diameter were 11.60 mm (100 ppm); 10.40 mm (50 ppm); 9.50 mm (25 ppm); 6.50 mm (10 ppm); 6,60 mm (negative control); 17.40 mm (positive control) and against bacteria Escherichia coli with inhibition zone diameter were 6.70 mm (100 ppm); 6,10 mm (50 ppm); 5,90 mm (25 ppm); 5.85 mm (10 ppm); 5,20 mm (negative control); 18.60 mm (positive control).

Abstract

This research is aimed to primarily study the spectroscopy of ether fraction of from Jati wood (T. grandis, L). The stem bark of T.grandis, L was firstly extracted undergoes a reflux in methanol solvent. Further, the dried methanol crude extract was extracted with diethyl ether and moreover separated its chemical constituents by using of column chromatography using degraded mixtures of n-hexane - ethyl acetate from 9:1 to 7:3. After a final column chromatography from the E fraction, a white needles crystal with a melting point of 295 - 297.5 °C was resulted. This results was then confirmed undergoes a spectroscopic analysis including UV, FTIR, H-NMR, and Mass spectroscopy to get an acid of 3β-hydroxy-20(29)-lupen-28-oic or commonly known as betulinic acid.

Abstract

Preliminary studies on Terong Belanda (C. betacea ) have been carried out in this investigation with an aim to examine the presence of an alkaloid in the fruit of Terong Belanda. Several protocols had been done including maceration, extraction, evaporation, separation under column chromatography, crystallization and recrystallization, and testing with series of alkaloid reagent test. Finally one fraction, fraction D, obtaining in white sharp crystals, 96 mg, m.p 117.5 ºC gave positive results to an alkaloid especially from the group of atropine.

Abstract

This investigation aims to synthesize, analyze the molecularity, and test the ability of bacterial inhibition capability of silver nanoparticles that have been synthesized by simply mixing silver nitrate and aqueous extracts of marine natural products with and without the addition of amylum as a stabilizing agent. This research, with and without the addition of amylum as a stabilizing agent, obtained 39.0 and 55.2 mg of solids of round-shaped morphology silver nanoparticles with diameters of 87.9 and 103.0 nm., respectively. In addition, the antibacterial testing assay against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli showed some considerably good results. S. aureus with the addition of amylum had inhibition zone diameters of 8.55 and 7.45 mm, whereas without the addition of amylum had inhibition zone diameters of 7.82 and 7.22 mm. E. coli with the addition of amylum had inhibition zone diameters of 7.0 and 7.65 mm, whereas E. coli without the addition of amylum had inhibition zone diameters of 7.82 and 7.22 mm.

Abstract

The aim of this research to isolate and identify and to test the antioxidant activity of extract and fraction of polyfloral honey originated from Bone regency, South Sulawesi. The results showed that methanol gave results in flavonoid, tannin, saponnin, steroid, and alkaloid with IC50 value of DPPH method of 683,153 µg/mL. DCM extract gave positive results for tannin, steroid and alkaloid with IC50 values of 701,743 µg/mL. n-hexane extract positively contains tannin and alkaloid with IC50 1709,536 µg/Ml, water extract positevely contains tannin, sapponin steroid, alkaloid with IC50 value 1698,345 µg/mL. Pure honey contains all aspects tested with IC50 values 2826,471 µg/mL. This showed extracts and sample have weak antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Herein, we successfully synthesized, characterized, and examined the antibacterial activity of silver–cadmium bimetallic bionanoparticles prepared by mixing the aqueous extract of Sidaguri (Sida rhombifolia L.) and mixtures of silver nitrate and cadmium nitrate (yield = 0.2035 g). Ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy, Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy–energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and particle-size analysis, revealed that the products exhibited a maximum absorption wavelength of 427.5 nm with an absorbance intensity of 0.790; a face centered cubic structure; Ag and Cd mass percentages of 98.52% and 1.28%, respectively; an average molecular diameter of 43.8 nm, and a polydispersity index of 0.573. The bimetallic nanoparticles were tested as an antibacterial agent against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. They exhibited inhibition zone diameters of 9.2 and 10 mm for E. coli and S. aureus, respectively.
