Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of turmeric (Curcuma domestica Val) as an immunostimulant in pomfret (Colosoma macropomum). The test fish were pomfret as much as 150 individuals having an average of 28.78 ± 2.44 g. After acclimatization process, the fish were given turmeric as a treatment with five different doses, each with three replications. The treatments used were A = 0 g, B = 5 g, C = 10 g and D = 15 g turmeric/kg of feed. Duration of feeding was two weeks at a dose of 5%/body weight/day, twice a day at 08.00 am and 16.00 pm. The results obtained showed that the application of turmeric had a significant effect  on the total leukocyte of pomfret(P <0.01). Application of turmeric at 15 g/kg of feed proved to be able to increase the number of leukocytes in pomfret. Keywords: Curcuma domestica Val, leukocyte, immunostimulant, growth

Abstract

This research was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of baker’s yeast in enhancing nonspecific immune response and growth of Nile tilapia. After two weeks of acclimatization in fiber tank, juveniles were put into glass aquarium at the density of 15 fish/ aquarium. Fish were fed pellet supplemented with baker’s yeast as treatment for four weeks at 5% of body weight per day, twice daily (08.00 and 17.00). Five doses of treatment used in this research were A (0 g yeast/kg pellet), B (10 g yeast/kg pellet), C (20 g yeast/kg pellet), D (30 g yeast/kg pellet), E (40 g yeast/kg pellet), Immune parameters included total leucocyte count (TLC) and phagocytosis activity were measured at the end of experiment. Fish growth was weighing at the end of research period. Anova was used to evaluate the effect of baker’s yeast on immune parameters and growth while to evaluate the different effect between treatment, Duncan test was used. Research result showed that after four week of feeding, TLC of fish fed diet supplemented with baker’s yeast significantly different compared to control fish. The highest TLC of fish was achieved in treatment B followed by treatment C. It was also found that phagocytosis activity of fish increased significantly in fish fed treatment diet with the highest PA was observed in treatment C. PA of fish in treatment C was different significantly compared to a treatment A, D and E but between treatment C and B, no significant difference was observed. Application of baker’s yeast in diet also significantly increased growth of fish (p=0,00). Fish fed diet supplemented with 20 g baker’s yeast/kg pellet has the highest weight gain compared to other fish in other treatments. It was concluded that the used of baker’s yeast at 20-30 g/kg pellet for four weeks could enhance nonspecific immune response and growth of Nile tilapia. Abstract

This research aimed to identify pathogenic bacteria that infected nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) cultivated at five Districts in Tahuna Regency including Tamako, Kecamatan, Tabukan Tengah, Tabukan Utara,  Manganitu and Tahuna Districts, and to analyze water quality (temperature and pH).  The research was  conducted from July to August 2017.  Isolation and identification of bacteria was performed at  the Test Laboratory, Station of Fish Guarantee, Quality Control and Fisheries Product Safety Grade II, Tahuna. Target organ examined was kidney.  The bacteria was grown on TSA and then isolated. The bacteria was identify by gram stain, motility, aerobic, catalase, oxidase, O/F, glucose and Rimler shots for Aeromonas hydrophila. The bacteria was then identified using Manual for the Identification of Medical Bacteria.   From the 30 samples identified, it was found seven pathogenic bacteria infected fish namely A. hydrophila observed at 11 fish (36.6%), Corynebacterium sp. observed at 6 individuals or 20 %, Enterobacteria sp. obtained at 5 fish or 16,6 %, Listeria sp.  at 2 fish or 6,6 %, Pseudomonas sp. at 1 fish or 3,3 %, Plesiomonas sp. at 1 fish or 3,3 % and Kurtiha sp. at 1 fish.  Water quality parameters at all five districts ranged between 25 and 28° C while pH ranging from  6- 7 and suitable based on the PP N9. 42 Tahun 2001.Keywords:  pathogenic bacteria, aquaculture, Oreochromis niloticus

Abstract

A research had been conducted to identify and analyze the prevalence of ectoparasites on Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) cultured in Kampung Hiung, Manganitu District of Sangihe Island Regency during May 2016. Identification was conducted at The Laboratory of Fisheries and Maritime, Polytechnic of Negeri Nusa Utara.  The research found five parasite species infecting nile tilapia including Dactylogyrus sp, Oodinum sp, Lerneae sp, Gyrodactylus sp and Trichodina sp. The highest prevalence value was Dactylogyrus sp (86.67%), followed by Oodinium sp (33,33 %), Lerneae sp (13,33%), Gyrodactylus sp (6.67%) and Trichodina sp (6.67%) Keywords:  parasite, identification, prevalence, Oreochromis niloticus

Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate the efficacy of Baker’s Yeast S. cereviciae in enhancing the resistance of nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) to A. hydrophila. As many as 250 fish with an average weight of 28.78±2.44 g were obtained from Fish Culture Development and Training Center of Tateli. After acclimatization, the fish were fed pellet supplemented with Baker’s Yeast as treatments at five different doses, A=0 gr/kg feed, B=5 gr/kg feed, C=10 gr/kg feed, D=15 gr/kg feed, and E=20 gr/kg feed each of which was with three replications.  They were fed for four weeks at 5%/BW/day, twice a day at 08.00 and 16.00, respectively. After feeding period, the fish were challenged intraperitoneally with A. hydrophila.  Before injection, a pathogenicity test of bacteria A. hydrophila was conducted for LD50. Challenged test was carried out by injecting fish with 0.2 ml of bacterial suspension containing 5 x 106 cfu/ml. The fish resistance was observed for 14 days. Dead fish were taken out and bacterial isolation was performed to confirm the cause of the dead.  Results showed that supplementation of Baker’s Yeast into fish pellet had significant effect  on the fish resistance (p=0.00).  The highest resistance (66.6%) was recorded in fish fed with pellet supplement of 5 g Baker’s Yeast per kg of pellet while control fish was only 50%.  As conclusion, supplementation of Baker,s Yeast into fish pellet could enhance resistance of fish to the pathogen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efikasi ragi roti S. cereviciae dalam meningkatkan resistensi ikan nila (Oreochromis niloticus)terhadap bakteri patogen A. Hydrophila. Sebanyak 250 ekor ikan nila dengan berat awal rata-rata 28,78±2,44 g yang diambil dari Balai Pengembangan dan Pembinaan Pembudidayaan Ikan (BP3I) Tateli. Setelah aklimatisasi, ikan diberi ragi roti sebagai perlakuan dengan lima dosis berbeda dan masing-masing perlakuan memiliki tiga ulangan.Perlakuan ragi roti yang digunakan adalah A=0 gr/kg pakan, B=5 gr/kg pakan, C=10 gr/kg pakan, D=15 gr/kg pakan, E=20 gr/kg pakan. Lama pemberian pakan perlakuan empat minggu dengan dosis 5%/bb/hari dan diberikan 2 kali sehari yaitu Pukul 08.00 dan Pukul 16.00. Setelah diberikan ragi roti selama empat minggu ikan diuji tantang dengan bakteri A. Hidrophyla secara Intraperopeneal (ip). Sebelum penyuntikan, dilakukan uji patogenitas bakteri yang memberikan tingkat kematian 50% (LD50). Uji tantang dilakukan dengan cara menyuntikkan 0,2 ml suspensi bakteri pada kepadatan 5 x 106 cfu/ml (sesuai hasil uji patogenitas) pada rongga tubuh ikan. Pengamatan resistensi ikan akan dilakukan setiap hari selama 14 hari. Ikan mati dikeluarkan dan dilakukan isolasi bakteri untuk mengkonfirmasi penyebab kematian ikan. Hasil penelitian mendapatkan bahwa pemberian ragi roti berpengaruh sangat nyata (P=0,00) pada resistensi ikan terhadap bakteri A. Hydrophila. Resistensi tertinggi dicapai pada ikan yang diberi perlakuan B (5 g/kg pakan) dengan tingkat resistensi mencapai 66,6%. Sedangkan ikan yang tidak diberi perlakuan ragi roti (control) memiliki resistensi 50 %. Sebagai kesimpulan penambahan ragi roti dalam pakan dapat meningkakan resistensi ikan terhadap infeksi pathogen.

Abstract

Masyarakat sasaran program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) berlokasi di Desa Oloboju Kecamatan Sigi Biromaru. Beberapa penduduk di Desa Oloboju adalah pengungsi korban likuifaksi/gempa yang terjadi pada tahun 2018, dimana mereka menumpang di lahan milik orang karena tidak memiliki tanah dan rumah. Pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan penghasilan bagi petani melalui budidaya ikan lele (Clarias sp) menggunakan kolam terpal dipekarangan rumah. Tim pengabdian telah melakukan kegiatan di Desa Oloboju sehingga artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi pengabdian masyarakat dalam budidaya ikan lele di kolam terpal. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah survey, penyuluhan, praktek pemasangan terpal, diskusi, monitoring, dan evaluasi. Keterlaksanaan atau keberhasilan pengabdian didasarkan pada terpenuhinya indikator-indikator proses pengabdian. Hasil evaluasi menunjukan bahwa peserta antusias dalam mengikuti penyuluhan dan telah melaksanakan implementasi budidaya ikan lele di kolam terpal. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengabdian masyarakat telah diimplementasikan sesuai dengan rencana dimulai dari survey lokasi budidaya, pelaksanaan pengabdian, memberi bantuan berupa kolam terpal, benih ikan lele sebagai bentuk kontribusi untuk meningkatkan penghasilan pendapatan masyarakat di Desa Oloboju.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the types of bacteria that infect tilapia (Oreocromis niloticus) cultivated in Sigi Regency and analyze air quality parameters (temperature and pH). This research was carried out from May to July 2023. Bacteria was isolated and identified at the Fish Quarantine Station Testing Laboratory, Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products in Palu City. The target organ examined is the kidney. Bacteria were grown on TSA media and then isolated. On bacteria, Gram staining, motility, aerobic, catalase, oxidase, O/F, glucose, and Rimlershots media tests were carried out for Aeromonas hydrophila. Based on the test results, bacterial identification was done using the Manual to Identify Medical Bacteria. Of the 50 samples identified, 25 types of pathogenic bacteria were found that attack tilapia. In Sigi Biromaru District, there were seven types of bacteria Bordetella sp, Pseudomonas alcaligenes, Pasteurella sp, Moraxella sp, Shigella sp, Enterobacter sp, Achromobacter sp. In Dolo District, there were ten types of bacteria, namely Flavobacterium sp, Achromobacter sp., P.haemlytica, Alcaligenes sp, A.salmonicida, Actinobacillus sp, Plesiomonas shigelloides, A.sobria, Citrobacter sp, and Chromobacterium sp. In the Dolo Barat District, there are eight types of bacteria: P.shigelloides, Veillonella sp, Acinetobacter sp, Pasteurella sp, Plesiomonas sp, Bacillus sp, Enterococcus sp, and A.caviae. In Sigi Kota District, there are eight types of bacteria, namely Plesiomonas sp, P.haemlytica, P.alcaligenes, Klebsiella sp, Legionella sp, A.caviae, Eikenella corrodens, and Moraxella sp. In Marawola District, there are seven types of bacteria, namely P.haemlytica, E.corrodens, Klebsiella sp, Acinetobacter sp, Pasteurella sp, P.shigelloides, and Moraxella sp.

Abstract

Teluk Talengen merupakan perairan laut yang dimanfaatkan masyarakat sekitar untuk kegiatan budidaya air ikan laut, oleh karena itu penelitian identifikasi kualitas air ini menjadi penting dilakukan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi kelayakan kualitas air pada keramba jaring apung budidaya ikan kuwe (Charanx sp) di Teluk Talengen Kabupaten Kepulauan Sangihe. Parameter yang diteliti adalah parameter fisika dan kimia air. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei-Juni 2022 di keramba jaring apung Teluk Talengen. Metode yang digunakan, yaitu deskriptif dan pengamatan secara insitu dengan menguji sampel secara langsung di keramba jaring apung. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian pada kualitas air fisika, seperti suhu 28- 30°C, kedalaman 3.3- 5.6 m, kecerahan 3.3-4.5 m, kecepatan arus 01:10,21 - 02:40,13 cm/s, substrat lumpur berpasir. Parameter kimia air, seperti salinitas 28-35 ppt, pH 6.8 - 8.2, nitrit 0.0-0.5 mg/L, ammonia 0.0- 0.25 mg/L, phosfat 0.0 -0.5 mg/L. Secara umum, disimpulkan bahwa kulitas air di keramba jaring apung Teluk Talengen layak atau sesuai untuk dilakukan lokasi budidaya menggunakan sistem keramba jaring apung.

Abstract

Kepulauan Sangihe, budidaya ikan air tawar semakin berkembang dan dapat dilihat dibeberapa kampung yang memelihara ikan di pekarangan rumah. Untuk melakukan budidaya ikan, masyarakat memerlukan ilmu dan pengetahuan tentang cara budidaya ikan sehingga usaha budidaya yang dikelolah dapat berhasil. Untuk meningkatkan produksi dan keberhasilan budidaya ikan air tawar dapat dilakukan dengan cara pembuatan pakan. Pakan ikan harus mengandung nutrisi. Kegiatan penerapan Pengabdian Kemitraan Masyarakat Stimulus ini bertujuan membantu masyarakat pembudidaya ikan Kampung Nahepese dalam pembuatan pakan ikan dengan penambahan tepung daun luhu. Tujuan ini dapat dicapai lewat penerapan beberapa metode penambahan bahan herbal yaitu tepung daun luhu pada pakan yang mudah dipahami dan dimengerti masyarakat secara mandiri. Tahapan pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi pembuatan pakan ikan yang ditambahkan tepung daun luhu, kemudian memberi materi tentang cara budidaya ikan air tawar, pengelolaan kualitas air, serta hama dan penyakit ikan. Dengan kegiatan ini, masyarakat Kampung Nahepese memahami pembuatan tepung daun luhu yang akan ditambahkan ke dalam pakan ikan. Kegiatan Stimulus ini berdampak positif dan sangat baik dalam meningkatkan budidaya ikan air tawar di Kepulauan Sangihe. In Sangihe Islands, freshwater fish farming is growing and can be seen in several villages that keep freshwater fish in their yards. To carry out fish cultivation, the fish cultivator community needs knowledge about how to cultivate fish so that the cultivation business that is managed can be successful. To increase the production and success of freshwater fish cultivation can be done by making feed. Fish feed that is made must contain nutrients. The activity of implementing the Stimulus Community Partnership Service aims to help the fish cultivator community in Nahepese Village in demonstrations of making fish feed with the addition of herbal ingredients. This goal can be achieved through the application of several methods of adding herbal ingredients, namely luhu leaf flour to feed that is easily understood by the community independently. The stages of implementing this activity include the application of adding luhu leaf meal to the feed, then an explanation of how to cultivate freshwater fish, management of water quality, fish pests and diseases, and. With this activity, community Nahepese Village have a better understanding include of luhu leaf flour in fish feed. This Stimulus activity has a positive and good impact in increasing freshwater fish farming in Sangihe Islands.
