Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted based on the fact indicating that the students’ understanding on mathematic concept was still low, the students seemed to be less active and unable to complete the tasks given by themselves. The aim of this research was to improve the students’ activity and understanding on mathematic concept by using College Ball strategy in class XI IPS of SMA Adabiah 2 Padang. This was an experimental research whose sample was chosen by random. The instruments of the research were observation sheets and a test on the students’ understanding on mathematic  concept with reliability r11= 0,91. The result of the research revealed that after the strategy applied, the students’ activity improved, and their understanding on mathematic  concept was better than that of students treating by using conventional learning strategy. This could be seen from the P-Value (0,001) which was smaller than α (0,05), Thus it was concluded that the use of College Ball strategy could improve the students’ understanding on mathematic concept better than that of the conventional learning.

Abstract

Abstract

In this paper, a modified Householder method of fifth order is proposed for solving nonlinear equations. The modification is done by adapting a cubic interpolation polynomial to approximate the second derivative in the Householder method. Weprovide a theorem to prove the order of convergence of the proposed method. The simulations reveal that the proposed method needs fewer iterations, even with challenging initial guesses, and excels in sending a large portion of initial points to convergence and exhibits rapid convergence.

Abstract

In the digital era, skills in using Microsoft Office are very important for village officials. This is the background of the Microsoft Office training for village officials in Desa Mekong, Kecamatan Tebing Tinggi Barat, Kepualauan Meranti. The training materials include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. This training uses the “Learning by Doing” method which allows participants to immediately engage in practice after the presentation of the material. Participating village officials showed significant improvement in knowledge and skills using Microsoft Office. The enthusiasm of the participants and the assistance by the students also enriched the learning process, making it more interactive and in-depth. This training has positive implications for improving the competence of village officials and the quality of public services in Desa Mekong.

Abstract

This paper explores the characteristics of two distinct ideal types within BP-algebra, specifically T-ideal and -ideal. Initially, we elucidate the characteristics of the T-ideal in BP-algebra, establishing its connections with the perfect, normal, and normal ideal in BP-algebra. Subsequently, we demonstrate that the kernel of a homomorphism in BP-algebra constitutes a T-ideal. Moving forward, we delineate the properties of -ideal in BP-algebra, highlighting its relationships with ideal and filter in the context of BP-algebra. Additionally, we explore the characteristics of -ideal and subalgebra in 0-commutative BP-algebra. Finally, it is proven that the kernel of a homomorphism in 0-commutative BP-algebra can be identified as an -ideal.

Abstract

A definite integral that is difficult to solve analytically can be calculated using the numerical integration methods. The midpoint rule is a prominent rule for approximating definite integrals. This article discusses a version of the quartet midpoint rule that includes the derivative of the arithmetic mean . The proposed rule increases precision over the previous rules. Furthermore, the error term is obtained by using the concept of precision between quadrature and exact values. Finally, the proposed rule is more effective than the present rule, according to numerical simulation results.

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a new four-step iterative method for solving nonlinear equations based on a predictor–corrector framework that combines Newton’s, Ostrowski’s, and Householder’s methods. To avoid explicit evaluation of higher derivatives, particularly the second derivative, polynomial interpolation is employed to approximate derivative information in the higher-order step, while retaining first-derivative evaluations where required. The resulting scheme attains an optimal convergence order of fourteen using six function evaluations per iteration. Numerical experiments on several benchmark functions and two classical application problems, namely the computation of libration points and a Fibonacci-type root-finding problem, demonstrate improved accuracy and robust convergence behavior. In the reported tests, the method achieves the expected computational order of convergence and typically converges within a small number of iterations. The convergence properties are further examined through residual errors, step differences, and the observed computational order of convergence.

Abstract

Microsoft Office training for teachers in Mekong Village, West Tebing Tinggi District, aims to enhance teachers' technical competence in using software that is essential for the modern educational process. Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are expected to help teachers optimize the learning process, prepare teaching materials, and carry out administrative tasks more effectively. This training is highly relevant, especially for teachers in remote areas where the use of technology is often limited but very much needed to support more interactive learning and better-organized administration. The training is conducted face-to-face with a combination of lectures and hands-on practice, designed to ensure participants can understand and apply the material well. The training is conducted face-to-face with a combination of lectures and hands-on practice, designed to ensure participants can understand and apply the material well. Teachers are trained in the use of important Microsoft Office features, such as creating mass mailings using mail merge in Word, analyzing student grade data in Excel with formulas like IF, VLOOKUP, and HLOOKUP, and creating interactive presentations in PowerPoint. With this method, the transfer of knowledge and skills occurs optimally, and participants can immediately apply the knowledge they have gained in the context of their daily work. The evaluation of the training results shows a significant improvement in participants' competencies, with an average increase of 25% based on pre-test and post-test results. In conclusion, face-to-face Microsoft Office training has proven effective in enhancing teachers' technical skills. For further development, it is recommended to have advanced training with a longer duration and more in-depth material, so that teachers are better prepared to face technological challenges in the world of education.

Abstract

The utilization of digital technology in mathematics learning is very important to improve the quality of the learning process. This service activity aims to introduce and implement Mathexia.org, a digital question bank website, for he Senior High School Mathematics Teacher Forum (MGMP) of Pelalawan Regency. This platform allows teachers to input questions and materials, access question banks between schools, and organize token and time-based exams. Students can access materials, take exams, view results, and review questions for further study. Implementation methods included teacher training and the use of a student questionnaire with a four-point Likert scale, which was analyzed descriptively quantitatively. Results from 140 students showed positive improvements in learning motivation, digital literacy, and effectiveness of material comprehension after using Mathexia.org. This activity proves that this website can be an innovative solution in supporting more modern math learning in Kabupaten Pelalawan.
