Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, the teachers and their students carried out online distance learning by reading text digitally. This study aims to determine the teachers’ and students’ perceptions towards the use of digital text. The writer applied a quantitative qualitative research design. The participants of this study were six teachers from SMAN 2 Luwu and one teacher from SMK Kristen Seriti; 40 students from SMAN 2 Luwu and SMK Kristen Seriti. The participants were selected by using total sampling technique. The instruments were a questionnaire and a structured open-ended interview. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results showed that the implementation of digital text was less attractive to students. This was evidenced from questionnaire results which showed that 75% of SMAN 2 Luwu students and 45% of SMK Kristen Seriti students think digital text cannot be understood easily than direct explanations from the teacher. However, students assume that they feel challenged to read the digital text without an immediate answer from the teacher. Moreover, the teachers (50%) agreed that digital text is beneficial in delivering material. This study is hoped to give meaningful information for the teachers, students, and further researcher.

Abstract

Pandemic of Covid-19 influnces many things in real life. It also influences academic atmosphere and the culture of teaching and learning at schools. Government regulates “Study from Home” in order to prevent the spread of the virus. This study uses library research method in collecting data from various references. The objective of this study is to find out the challenges faced by the teachers and the learners in reaching the good quality of education amidst pandemic Covid-19. We found that the challenges faced by the teachers and learners are complicated. It cannot be separated from government’s role in assisting the governments’ regulation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh pandemi covid-19 terhadap pengajaran bagi guru dan siswa. Penelitian ini juga ingin melihat dampak pandemi covid-19 terhadap proses pembelajaran bagi guru, peserta didik dan orang tua serta kendala yang dihadapi guru dalam melakukan pengajaran. Selain itu penulis juga ingin melihat sisi positif dari pandemi covid-19 terhadap proses pengajaran bagi guru dan peserta didik. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan studi kasus kualitatif, yang digunakan untuk mendapatkan informasi mengenai permasalahan yang dirumuskan penulis. Responden yang dibutuhkan dalam penelitian ini yaitu peserta didik, guru dan orang tua. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dampak covid-19 bagi semua pihak (guru, peserta didik dan orang tua) sangat besar. Minimnya pengetahuan mengenai penggunaan teknologi dan pengeluaran yang cukup besar menjadi kendala proses pembelajaran berlangsung.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh pandemi covid-19 terhadap pengajaran bagi guru dan siswa. Abstract

Moralitas dan profesionalisme guru terus diasah sebagai bagian dari upaya dalam meningkatkan mutu pendidikan. Berbagai upaya dalam meningkatkan mutu pendidikan terus dilakukan oleh berbagai pihak. Sebagai garda terdepan dalam pelaksanaan pendidikan, guru menjadi kunci dalam meningkatkan mutu pendidikan. Muara dari suatu proses pendidikan ialah menghasilkan sumber daya manusia yang sesuai dengan tujuan pendidikan nasional. Oleh sebab itu, ada empat kompetensi yang harus dikuasai oleh seorang guru dalam menjalankan profesinya. Penguasaan kompetensi kepribadian dan kompetensi sosial merupakan kompetensi yang bersinggungan langsung dengan moralitas guru. Guru yang memiliki moralitas baik akan menjadi role model bagi siswa. Sedangkan kompetensi profesional menjadi acuan guru dalam menghadirkan pembelajaran yang berkualitas. Moralitas baik serta profesionalisme guru dalam menjalankan profesinya menjadi sebuah keharusan sebagai upaya meningkatkan mutu pendidikan. Dengan mutu pendidikan yang berkualitas akan mampu mencapai tujuan pendidikan nasional.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan memperoleh gambaran tentang peningkatan mutu kurikulum sekolah di SD melalui K-13. Penelitian ini adalah jenis penelitian kepustakaan (Liberary Reserch), dengan pendekatan konten isi. Penulis berkesimpulan bahwa peningkatan mutu kurikulum Sekolah Dasar melalui K-13 diarahkan pada peningkatan peran kepala sekolah yang lebih optimal, adanya kompetensi khusus yang dimiliki oleh guru tentang kurikulum 2013 (K-13), peningkatan kompetensi siswa baik dalam pengetahuan, keterampilan maupun karakter siswa, dan terwujudnya proses belajar yang efektif.

Abstract

Abstract[English]:This paper aims to obtain an overview of the quality of education in the revolutionary era 0.4 amidst Covid-19 which is full of great challenges, which require teachers and education observers to make and create new changes and paradigms facing the revolutionary era 4.0 amid the Covid-19 outbreak. Currently the world of education is one of the sectors that has been heavily affected by the Covid-19 outbreak, which has experienced a decline in quality which is the background for this research. Based on the goal of creating high quality education quality in achieving true educational success. This study uses a critical analysis method that produces several points including the importance of the role of teachers in dealing with education in the era of 4.0 which is all machine-driven. The defense of the role of teachers in facing the challenges of the 4.0 revolution amid the Covid-19 outbreak and the creation of a new paradigm for teachers in facing the era of the industrial revolution 4.0.Abstrak[Indonesia]:Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran mengenai mutu pendidikan era revolusi 0.4 ditengah Covid-19 yang penuh dengan tantangan hebat, yang mengharuskan guru dan para pemerhati pendidikan untuk melakukan serta menciptakan perubahan dan paradigma baru menghadapi era revolusi 4.0 di tengah wabah covid-19.  Saat ini dunia pendidikan menjadi salah satu sektor yang terkena dampak besar dari wabah covid-19 mengalami penurunan kwalitas yang kemudian melatar belakangi penelitian ini. Berdasarkan tujuan untuk menciptakan mutu pendidikan yang berkualitas tinggi dalam mencapai keberhasilan pendidikan yang hakiki. Penelitian ini Menggunakan metode analisis kritis yang menghasilkan beberapa point diantaranya pentingnya peran guru dalam menangani pendidikan era 4.0 yang semua serba mesin. Pertahanan peran guru menghadapi tantangan revolusi 4.0 di tengah wabah covid-19 serta terciptanya paradigma baru bagi guru dalam menghadapi era revolusi industri4.0.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the foreign language learning in Indonesia, starting at the junior high school level from grade one to tertiary level. But it does not show development and progress and meaningful effectiveness. This research applies the method of autoethnography. Data collected through the retrospection of the author's personal experience and the narrative expressions of the experiences of others were analyzed using descriptive - qualitative methods and techniques. The results of the analysis of this study indicate that although education and learning of foreign languages have a long duration in Indonesia, they do not show satisfactory results. The reason is that foreign language learning is assumed to be mere knowledge. Not a practical skill that requires cultural experience taught in the target languages. Therefore, it is recommended that education policymakers and teachers in Indonesia should make various efforts to consider the component of practical skills in the use of foreign languages in the form of cultural engagement.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) determine the implementation of management functions in the acceptance of new students based on zonation in Palopo City. (2) determine the effectiveness of the distribution of new students based on zonation in Palopo City. (3) find the supporting and inhibiting factors for the application of zoning-based new student admissions. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 6 Palopo, SMA Negeri 1 Palopo and SMA Negeri 2 Palopo. There are two research subjects, namely the primary subject consisting of the Principal, Deputy Principal for Student Affairs and the PPDB Committee and the secondary subject, namely the results of documentation. Techniques and data collection instruments used were observation, interviews and documentation. Test the validity of the data through the triangulation process. The results of the study show that (1) the implementation of management functions in the Zoning-based PPDB, namely the first planning stage which includes the implementation of a follow-up to the issuance of a decree from the head of the South Sulawesi education office regarding PPDB in 2020/2021 by carrying out a School Principal Working Meeting which discusses the study. Regarding the admission route for new students, the division and determination of zonation for each school and preparation for the formation of an implementing committee and carrying out PPDB preparations in the form of supporting facilities and infrastructure as well as human resources in the form of operators. Second, organizing the formation and stipulation of the implementing committee as well as the zoning determination through a decree of the South Sulawesi provincial education office. The three stages of implementation include the socialization process, announcement of the acceptance schedule, implementation of registration, and determination of selection results. The four stages of evaluation include evaluations carried out at the school scope by improving services and evaluations carried out at the South Sulawesi provincial education office by making improvements to the PPDB application. (2) The implementation of zoning-based PPDB management is effective in the distribution process of students at SMA Palopo City as evidenced by more than 50% of new students being accepted into each Education Unit, namely SMA Negeri 6 Palopo, SMA Negeri 1 Palopo and SMA Negeri 2 Palopo. (3) The supporting factors for the successful implementation of zoning-based PPDB are adequate facilities and infrastructure, efficiency in the socialization process using social media, adequate school human resources and internet network access that is almost evenly distributed in Palopo City. The inhibiting factors are that there are still prospective students who are constrained in accessing technology, registering outside the zoning, areas far from the nearest school, some areas that do not have internet network access, and server capacity that is still lacking.

Abstract

Generally, most English language learners believed that writing is the most difficult language skill to perform. In addition, some English teachers/lecturers experience difficulties to encourage and motivate their students to write. There are a number of reasons why sometimes many language learners find it difficult to perform writing skills. One of the reasons is that they are sometimes asked to write about the topics they have little knowledge of. Another reason is if they are not interested in the topics they are asked to write about. This paper aims at describing one way in which English teachers can help their students get as much out of activity as possible despite their writing experiences, that is through an excursion. An excursion is a great way of encouraging and motivating the students to practice their writing skills. Data were obtained through observation of the field trip and written tasks performed by 32 of the fourth semester students of English Education Study Program, in academic year 2016/2017 at Cokroaminoto University, Palopo. Data obtained were analyzed qualitatively. The result of the research reveals that an excursion is an appropriate way for tackling the written tasks which are sometimes daunting for English language learners to perform. Such activity facilitates the students to write enthusiastically since the students know the subject matter they are writing about. In addition, through several activities in an excursion, the students can improve their vocabulary command, increase their grammatical knowledge, develop their English language skills in general and build up their self-confidence, particularly in performing writing tasks.
