Abstract

The increase of solid waste production is a general problem in municipality, particularly of plastic waste. The durability, light-weight, anticorrosiveness, and inexpensiveness properties of plastic make it favorable to be used in daily life, including in Salatiga. However, plastic is one of some non-biodegradable materials that could lead to soil and water pollution as it contains toxic compounds such as aromatic hydrocarbons, phthalates, and organochlorine. Various studies in municipal solid waste management have been conducted. While those studies often applied various approaches separately, researches in regard to the role of stakeholders in municipal solid waste management are very limited. This study aims to explain the plastic waste management in Salatiga based on the role of the corresponding stakeholders. This qualitative study shows that there are four stakeholders who were involved in municipal plastic waste management in Salatiga. They were the households who generate wastes, the scavengers who sorts the wastes, Bank Sampah and collectors who have the same role in order to collect the wastes and treat the plastic wastes through reusing or recycling processes, and the government. Currently, efforts in waste treatment in Salatiga are focused on the system of collecting-tranferring-disposal mode, waste treatment by reuse and recycle processing, and landfilling. Reducing plastic consumption must take into account the sociocultural aspect and environmental awareness, as the people still interested to use plastic instead of using other materials in substitution. Finally, the role of government is central to educate the community in term of sorting activities and reducing waste production, build the capacity of Bank Sampah, and manage the role of scavengers and collectors. Other alternatives include creating synergy between the collectors and Bank Sampah, as well as ensuring final treatment of the unprocessed wastes disposed by collectors and Bank Sampah.

Abstract

Modern ethnomathematics is proposed in this article by introducing curves and surfaces to objects based on commonly used mathematics. There are 2 types of objects, batik and ornament. The object is known as Batima, which means a mathematical motif made in a batik stamp. The same design can be used to design ornaments, souvenirs, accessories or other household items such as glasses, t-shirts and other materials. The formation of ethnomathematics is driven by entrepreneurial activities. The method starts with the expansion of the circular and spherical equations based on the variation of the power form which was originally 2 in the equation to be valued at random (say p). The other used equations are parametric equations, especially the hypocycloid which is extended to both curves and surfaces with spherical coordinates. In addition, derivative operators can be applied. Product manufacturing is carried out by at least 10 household businesses around Salatiga and Jogjakarta and its surroundings. In order to sustain the mainstreaming of modern ethnomathematics, entrepreneurial activities are carried out with existing materials through exhibitions and competitions that are followed. Likewise, the use of social media and marketplaces are explored to mainstream the modern ethnomathematics into society.

Abstract

Indonesia has a potency in the coffee sector. Many robusta coffee farmers really depending on the coffee sector. For the example, 75% of coffee farmers in Temanggung Regency work in the robusta coffee sector. Fluctuations and declining coffee production can be a burden for coffee potency optimization and decreasing the income of the coffee farmers. This study aims to determine the factors that can affect the declining of Robusta coffee production in Temanggung Regency. The analytical methods used in this study are Value Chain Analysis, Forward Linkage and Backward Linkage, and Fishbone Analysis. The author is using secondary and primary data. Secondary data was obtained from Statistics Indonesia and Directorate General of Plantations at the Ministry of Agriculture.Primary data was obtained from interviews with 3 key informans Robusta coffee farmers in Gesing Village who eligible. The result showed that age of plants and distance of each plants, lack of coffee picking services, weather and lack of cooperation and other sectors, such as the trade sector and the industrial sector can lead into a decreasing of coffee production.

Abstract

The outcomes of development in each region depend on the endowment and management of the area. The differences of development outcomes cause the phenomenon of inequality in income distribution, which can be conceptually observed and measured by the Gini index. This study aims to analyze the influence of the Human Development Index (HDI), the Open Unemployment Rate (OUR), and the Regional Minimum Wage (RMW) on income distribution inequality in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Province for the period 2012-2023. This research employs panel data analysis with a mixed effect model and uses Stata 14 as the analytical tool. The study demonstrates that the HDI and OUR variables have a positive and significant impact on income distribution inequality, whereas the RMW variable does not have a significant effect on income distribution inequality in DIY from 2012 to 2023. Although the Gini index in DIY Province is relatively low, the results of the mixed effect model indicate significant inequality across its regencies/ cities. The local government of DIY and other related stakeholders should ensure that education, healthcare, and employment are accessible for all people in DIY.

Abstract

Geometry is one of the particular problems for students. Therefore, several methods have been developed to attract students to learn geometry. For undergraduate students, learning geometry through surface visualization is introduced. One topic is studying parametric curves called the hypocycloid curve. This paper presents the generalization of the hypocycloid curve. The curve is known in calculus and usually is not studied further. Therefore, the research's novelty is introducing the spherical coordinate to the equation to obtain new surfaces. Initially, two parameters are indicating the radius of 2 circles governing the curves in the hypocycloid equations. The generalization idea here means that the physical meaning of parameters is not considered allowing any real numbers, including negative values. Hence, many new curves are observed infinitely. After implementing the spherical coordinates to the equations and varying the parameters, various surfaces had been obtained. Additionally, the differential operator was also implemented to have several other new curves and surfaces. The obtained surfaces are useful for learning by creating ornaments. Some examples of ornaments are presented in this paper.

Abstract

This article shows the result of entrepreneur mathematics by creating mathematical objects from silver. The objects discussed here are accessories to introduce undergraduate students to integrating several aspects of learning mathematics. These are learning geometry modernly, mathematical art, popularizing mathematics for society, introducing entrepreneurial values using mathematics, teamwork for achieving targets, and considering local heritage in mathematics. These aspects are blended into activity by creating designs and producing products based on the obtained designs. The particular product for this activity is creating silver accessories. The used research method is initiated by creating designs with the help of software where the surface equations are known. After the designs are obtained, the designs are communicated to the silver craftsman to be a partner in design testing and manufacturing of accessories products using the given designs. The size and the similarity of perceptions to the appearance of the design are discussed because the actual design is a three-dimensional image but expressed in objects to be two- dimensional objects. After productions are obtained, the accessories are managed to be promoted to the marketplace and social media as a form of entrepreneurial activity with materials starting from mathematics.

Abstract

Population growth has an impact on land use change which leads to various environmental issues, including the clean water needs. The Community-Based Drinking Water and Sanitation Provision (PAMSIMAS) is one of the government's programs aimed at fulfilling the clean water and sanitation needs of community. Although there are still implementation problems, this program has shown positive benefits and impacts in various regions. This research aims to explain the achievements of the PAMSIMAS program in Temanggung Regency as a government effort to improve the people welfare. This is a quantitative study using secondary data and analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results of the research show that the realization of PAMSIMAS in Temanggung Regency for drinking water is considered good, with the lowest being around 75%, and some achievements exceeding the target of 100%. PAMSIMAS realization for sanitation is still fluctuating with low sanitation realization in three sub-districts, namely Bansari sub-district (27.13%), Wonoboyo sub-district (8%), and Tretep sub-district (6%). The low level of sanitation is caused by the low economic status, weak social norms, and weak social capital. Further studies are needed to find the factors causing the low sanitation realization in these sub-districts in order to find the best solution.
