Abstract

This review aims to assess the diversified risks associated with agricultural pollution of groundwater and to propose effective mitigation measures. In that direction, the article discusses the source and pathways of agricultural contaminants, underlining the controlling role of geology in contaminant transport. In this paper, an attempt will be made to assess critically the adverse effects of such contaminants on human health, the environment, and the economy. This requires interdisciplinary approaches to risk assessment and management that involve geologists, hydrologists, agronomists, environmental scientists, policymakers, and farmers. This review, therefore, summarizes good management practices"”including cover cropping, crop rotation, and precision agriculture to minimize chemical use"”and also discusses some regulatory measures, such as groundwater monitoring programs and land-use regulations, put in place for the protection of groundwater quality. Case studies are drawn from different regions of these mitigation strategies through collaborative and multifaceted approaches. The review thus concludes by underlining the need for further research and innovation in technology coupled with the engagement of stakeholders for future sustainability in agriculture without compromising the groundwater resources.

Abstract

This study presents a simulation-based analysis of 2.4 GHz rectangular microstrip patch antenna for sensing sugar content in aqueous solutions. The antenna was designed and simulated using software with performance evaluated based on return loss and resonance frequency shifts in response to changes in the dielectric properties of the sugar solution. The primary objective was to assess the sensitivity of the rectangular microstrip antenna to variations in sugar concentration. The result show that the antenna exhibits measurable resonance frequency shifts as the sugar content in the solution increases, indicating the potential of microstrip antennas as effective, non-invasive sensors for liquid concentration monitoring. These findings contribute to the development of microwave-based sensing technologies, offering insights into the application of microstrip patch antennas for sugar detection and other similar application.

Abstract

Abstract[Mitigating Occupational Accident Risks in Ports with Bowtie Analysis: A Case Study at PT Pelabuhan Indonesia Regional 2 Teluk Bayur] Loading and unloading activities in ports are complex and high-risk operations, demanding specific attention to occupational health and safety (OHS). This study aims to identify, analyze, and control the risk of accidents in these activities at PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) Regional 2 Teluk Bayur. The Bowtie Analysis method is used for its comprehensive visualization and analysis of cause-and-effect relationships in accidents. Data was gathered through field observations, questionnaires, interviews with workers and OHS staff, and a literature review. The results reveal two high-risk activities: general cargo handling and container handling. Major threats leading to accidents include human error, equipment malfunction, poor lighting, inadequate housekeeping, and adverse weather. Consequences range from fatalities and physical injuries to psychological trauma, operational disruptions, and damage to the company's reputation. Based on the risk analysis, this study formulates recommendations for effective risk control strategies, including preventive and mitigation controls, along with suggestions for improving existing OHS procedures. Keywords: solar panel; renewable energy; optimization; hybrid

Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the potential for human error that can cause workplace accidents in the cement industry of PT.X. The study was conducted by conducting observations, interviews, and distributing questionnaires in the mining area and production area. Questionnaires were distributed to 96 people who were mining heavy equipment operators and production operators. The research method used through Human Reliability Analysis with the Hierarchial Task Analysis (HTA) method, knowing the types of errors that occur using the SHERPA method, then calculating the probability of human errors that occur with the HEART method. Based on the results of research using the SHERPA method, the most common types of errors in mining areas and production areas are action errors (60,25%). The type of error that occurs is due to negligence in using personal protective equipment and the work process is not completed properly. Based on research using the HEART method, the greatest opportunity for human error in the mining department is cleaning with dozer with a value of 1,056 and in the production department is in the area of cleaning work with a value of 1,89. Based on the error producing conditions questionnaire (EPCs) for workers in the mining department the most common cause of error is poor equipment / instruments while for workers in the production department is a mismatch between the imagined risk and the actual risk. The recommendations given to companies are to improve work equipment, improve visual displays and provide an appropriate assessment checklist.
