Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to analyze students' mathematical understanding ability. The research approach used is qualitative with an analytical descriptive method so that obtained the description of students' mathematical understanding ability. The instrument used is the test of mathematical understanding ability, interview guidance, and questionnaire that has been done validation. The test aims to obtain a picture of student error answers based on the scores obtained. Interview guide to obtain information about student's mistakes. Questionnaires to know students' interest in math. The subject of the research is the students of class VIII in one junior high school in Kabupaten Bandung Barat as many as 36 people. The results showed that students made a mistake in determining the characteristics of the rectangular building. Students cannot complete the calculation of area and around the rectangle correctly. The students' understanding of mathematical ability lies in the low criteria so that improvement needs to be made. Students who can solve mathematical comprehension problems enjoy math lessons.  Keywords: Mathematical Understanding Ability, Error Analysis

Abstract

Community service is conducted in the form of a training workshop on the use of wingeom software for elementary, junior and senior high school teachers in Pangalengan District. The purpose of this service is to improve teacher competence in using learning software in the classroom, especially wingeom software. The location of the service was held at SMAN 1 Pangalengan, with a total of 51 participants. Researchers conducted initial observations by distributing questionnaires on the google form. The results of preliminary observations indicate that teachers in schools are still lacking in the use of ICT, especially mathematical software in learning. The teachers do not have the skills to use the software in learning mathematics. The lack of use of ICT is due to the teachers' lack of understanding of ICT, so that teachers have difficulty in operating mathematical software. This has encouraged the implementation team to conduct wingeom software training to improve the competence of teachers in the ICT field in Pangalengan District. During the wingeom software training, the teachers were very enthusiastic in following their activities from the beginning to the end of the training. Through the questionnaire at the end of the training it was found that the teachers could master the wingeom software and be able to apply the software when learning especially learning about geometry. Wingeom software training can improve the competence of teachers in Pangalengan District. Through this mathematics software training, the teacher has skills n teaching mathematics that is interesting and fun for students.

Abstract

Numeracy literacy is crucial because it can help someone understand the role or usefulness of mathematics in their daily lives. Therefore, it is necessary to research to improve students' numeracy literacy. The purpose of this research is to take action and analyze the use of the PBL model with scaffolding to improve students' numeracy literacy. Classroom action research with Kurt Lewwin model which consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques using tests and observation sheets. The data analysis technique used was qualitative and quantitative analysis. The subjects of this study were students of class VII-D at SMP Negeri 5 Cimahi. Data analysis can be concluded that Problem-Based Learning with Scaffolding can improve numeracy literacy, in cycle 1, we obtained an average value of 65 with a completeness rate of 50% which amounted to 20 students, and those who did not complete there were 20 students or 50%. While in cycle 2, the average score was 73.5 with a 70% completeness rate totaling 28 students and 12 students or 30% were not complete. With the application of the Problem-Based Learning model with Scaffolding, students are more active in participating in the learning process than before the action is given.
