Abstract

Artikel ini melaporkan temuan dari kelompok desain postest kontrol eksperimental yang dilakukan pada tahun 2011 untuk menyelidiki matematika logis siswa, berpikir kritis, dan kreatif dan disposisi. Studi ini melibatkan 76 siswa dari kelas-11 dari SMA di Cimahi. Penelitian ini menggunakan tiga macam tes dan skala disposisi yaitu: matematika berpikir logis dan tes skala disposisi, tes berpikir kritis matematika dan skala disposisi, dan uji pemikiran matematika kreatif dan skala disposisi. Studi ini menemukan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan kemampuan berpikir logis dan matematis diposition, matematika kemampuan berpikir kritis dan diposition, dan matematika disposisi berpikir kritis siswa diajarkan oleh pembelajaran berbasis masalah dan berpikir-bicara-menulis strategi (PBL-TTW) dan mahasiswa diajarkan dengan mengajar konvensional. Siswa kemampuan berpikir matematis logis diklasifikasikan sebagai media, siswa kemampuan berpikir matematis logis tergolong cukup baik, dalam disposisi siswa umum digolongkan sebagai media. Studi ini juga menemukan bahwa siswa diajarkan oleh ajaran konvensional mencapai nilai yang lebih baik pada kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematika daripada siswa diajarkan oleh PBL-TTW. Namun, mereka yang kemampuan berpikir masih tergolong kurang baik. Temuan penting lainnya adalah tidak ada hubungan antara pemikiran logis matematika dan matematika kemampuan berpikir kritis, berpikir logis antara matematika dan matematika kemampuan berpikir kritis, dan di antara kemampuan berpikir matematis dan disposisi.Kata kunci: kemampuan berpikir logis dan disposisi, kemampuan berpikir kritis dan disposisi, kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan disposisi, belajar berbasis masalah, strategi berpikir-berbicara-menulis

Abstract

This research is to find out the mathematical communication skills of VIII junior high school students about building a flat side space. This research method is a qualitative descriptive study. The subject of this research is 18 students in one junior high school in Bandung regency. The test instrument used is a description form. The indicator used in this study there are 5 indicators of mathematical communication ability, namely expressing ideas, situations and relations with images, expressing mathematical situations or everyday events into mathematical models, explaining and making questions of mathematical problems, low indicators only obtain an average percentage averaged 12%, based on the results of calculations using the Microsoft Exel application the overall student communication skills of these five indicators are still low below 50% which is only 44%.

Abstract

This research belongs to qualitative descriptive research which attempts to describe the analysis of student error in solving the problem of critical thinking mathematics on the material of building flat side space. Subject in this research is SMPN 5 Cimahi students of class IX-B which in this case student have studied material of building flat side space. The instruments used consisted of tests of critical mathematical thinking skills and student interviews. The results showed that the location of the mistakes made by the students is a mistake of concepts, error translation and strategy error. Factors that cause the error because they do not understand simple concepts, do not know the purpose of the problem, can not translate the problem into the mathematical sentence, can not finish the mathematical sentence.

Abstract

This research has purpose to analyze the ability of Mathematical Understanding of MTs students by using contextual approach. This research is a classroom action research with student population of MTs Nurul Hikmah located in West Bandung district and the sample is 18 students of class VIII. The instruments used in this research are cycle I and II tests (after giving the action); and the use of observation sheets for teachers and students as a measure of the conditions of action implementation. The procedures of this study consist of: (1) Planning, (2) Implementation of action, (3) Observation (4) evaluation, and (5) Reflection. The results showed that the Mathematical Understanding of MTs students on the rectangular building materials could be improved by using a contextual approach

Abstract

This study aims to obtain an overview of the mathematical creative reasoning abilities of the prospective teacher. The ability of mathematical creative reasoning in this study is the ability of students to justify a statement on the grounds of the truth of a statement that is based on novelty, plausible, and mathematical foundation. This research approach is qualitative using Grounded Theory. The population in this study were all students participating in the Calculus class of the Study Program Mathematics Education at one of the universities in West Java. In a while, the sample of 55 students was selected by a cluster random sampling technique. The results showed that students' mathematical creative reasoning abilities were categorized into three levels of ability based on the quality of the four categories, namely the initial step, the flow of completion, the related concepts, and the mathematical term errors.

The study involves 76 students of grade-11 from a senior high school in Cimahi. The study employs three kinds of tests and disposition scales those are: mathematical logical thinking test and disposition scale, mathematical critical thinking test and disposition scale, and mathematical creative thinking test and disposition scale. The study found that there was no difference of mathematical logical thinking ability and diposition, mathematical critical thinking ability and diposition, and mathematical critical thinking disposition of students taught by problem based learning and think-talk-write strategy (PBLTTW) and students taught by conventional teaching. Students’ mathematical logical thinking ability was classified as medium, students’ mathematical logical thinking ability was classified as fairly good, in general students’ disposition were classified as medium. The study also found that students taught by conventional teaching attained better grade on mathematical creative thinking ability than students taught by PBL-TTW. However, those thinking ability were still classified as less than good. The other findings were there were not association between mathematical logical thinking and mathematical critical thinking abilities, between mathematical logical thinking and mathematical critical thinking abilities, and among mathematical thinking abilities and disposition.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini merupakan bagian dari laporan penelitian Pendekatan Kontekstual Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemahaman dan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis serta Kemandirian Belajar Siswa SMP. Penelitian ini merupakan berbentuk kuasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest postest control group design yang bertujuan menelaah pencapaian kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa SMP yang menggunakan pembelajaran pendekatan kontekstual dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran biasa. Selain itu penelitian ini juga diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa SMP serta. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa SMP kelas VIII Kota Cimahi, sedangkan sampelnya adalah siswa kelas VIII dari salah satu SMP yang ditetapkan secara purposif pada SMP di Kota Cimahi dan dipilih secara acak dari kelas VIII yang ada. Kemudian dari sampel tersebut ditetapkan secara acak yang menjadi kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa Pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa SMP yang memperoleh pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual lebih baik daripada pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Pencapaian dan peningkatan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual mendapat pencapaian yang bagus sedangkan kelas yg pembelajarannya konvensional masih sangat kurang. Kata Kunci : Kontekstual, Pemahaman Matematis  ABSTRACTThis study is part of a research report Contextual Approach To Improve Understanding Ability and Mathematical Problem Solving and Independence Junior High Student. This research is a form of quasi-experimental design with pretest posttest control group design that aims to examine the achievement of junior high school students' mathematical understanding ability that uses contextual learning approach compared with normal learning. In addition, this research is also expected to improve the ability of junior high school students' mathematical understanding as well. The population in this study were all students of class VIII SMP Cimahi, while the sample is a class VIII student of one of the junior set purposively on SMP in Cimahi and randomly selected from an existing class VIII. Then from these samples were randomly assigned into experimental class and control class. Based on the results of the data analysis, we concluded that the Achievement and increase the ability of junior high school students 'mathematical understanding obtain contextual learning approach is better than the achievement and improvement of students' mathematical problem solving ability with conventional learning. Achievement and improvement of students who obtain contextual learning approach gets a great achievement while conventional classroom learning which is still lacking. Keywords: Contextual, Mathematical Understanding.

Abstract

This research is based on the lack of students’ ability in mathematical creative thinking and self concept. For that reason, this study aims to improve the students’ ability of mathematical creative thinking and self-concept through problem-based learning. Using Quasi Experiment method and nonequivalent control group design, this study is included into experimental research. The population of this research is the seventh graders of Junior High School in the district of Cimahi, West Java, Indonesia, and the sampling technique is purposive sampling, with one experimental group which is mathematical learning using problem-based learning (PBM) and one control group which is mathematical learning using conventional onewiththe number of samples in this study were 74 students. The hypothesis test his study is done by using parametric and nonparametric test (t-test and Mann-Whitney). The results showed that mathematical creative thinking and self-concept ability of students who use problem-based learning is better than students who receive conventional learning. Then, the increase of ability and creative thinking of students who use problem-based learning is better than those who receive the conventional learning and their self-concept is classified as being medium

Abstract

This study aims to describe the manufacture and use of Cuisenaire rod learning media for understanding the concepts of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of integers for elementary school students. The research method used is literature study, which is a series of activities related to the methods of collecting library data, reading and recording, and processing research materials. This research uses a qualitative approach. Data sources and research results in library research in the form of a description. Data sources are bibliographic or come from various literature, including books, journals, newspapers, personal documents, etc. The research results are that the utilization of Cuisenaire rod media is more optimized on learning in elementary schools, especially in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of integers because Cuisenaire rod media can help understand and can concrete the concept of numbers. In addition, it can be used as reference material for research on learning addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of integers by utilizing different learning media.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of ability to think creatively Mathematically junior secondary students. This research aims to determine differences in achievement and increase the ability of creative thinking and independent learning as well as the association between mathematics student who obtained the usual scientific approach to obtaining scientific approach based etnomatematika. This research method is experimental design with pretest posttest control group design in this study population eighth grade students in one of the Junior High School in Bandung, the sample was taken two classes of ninth grade there. Instruments in this study is a test description of critical and creative thinking skills as much as 5 mathematical problems. Based on the results of the study are Differences in Achievement and improvement Ability Creative Thinking Mathematically junior high school students are learning to use PendekatanSaintifik usual with the use Approach Scientific based etnomatematika, and there is no difference Independence Learning student learning using the approach Scientific with the gain approaches saintif based Etnomatematika and are associated antarakemampuan Creative Thinking Mathematically students with learning independence student learning using etnomatematika-based Scientific Approach.
