Abstract

The purposes of this study was to find out and analyze empirically the effects of cooperative script strategy in enhancing the students’ ability in writing analytical exposition text to the eleventh grade students of SMK N 3 OKU who were taught by using cooperative strategy. The study used experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test. The population of the study were 368 students, there were 12 classes with the 35 sample students, the sample took by using cluster random sampling technique. The data collection method used written test in pre-test and post-test. To analyze the test the researcher used t-test in SPSS 21. First, the writers gave pre-test to the students. The second, the writers taught writing by using cooperative script strategy and the third, they gave post-test to the students to know effectiveness of the strategy which was used. The mean of the pre-test was good (65,20). Meanwhile, the mean of post-test was very good (85,31). It could be seen from the result analysis using paired sample t test that output was 0.000 lower than 0,05. From the score, it can be concluded that null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Based on the result finding from this study, the cooperative script strategy was significantly effective to teach writing an analytical exposition text and the writers recommends the teacher use cooperative script strategy in teaching process and also for the students to apply cooperative script strategy to help the students to conveying their idea and improving their writing ability.

Abstract

Masalah pada penelitian ini di fokuskan pada analisis kesalahan mahasiswa dalam menggunakan Noun Clause (that, wh word, if/weather) pada mahasiswa semester dua program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Universitas Baturaja. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kesalahan mahasiswa dalam menggunakan Noun Clause pada Mahasiswa Semester Dua Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Universitas Baturaja. Pada investigasi ini, penulis menggunkan metode penelitian deskriptip, dan populasi yang digunakan adalah seluruh mahasiswa semester Dua Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Universitas Baturaja, serta jumlah populasi adalah 28 mahasiswa. Dalam hal ini, penulis menggunakan seluruh populasi sebagai sampel penelitian. Selanjutnya, penulis menggunakan esai test dalam mengumpulkan data. Sehingga, hasil yang diperoleh adalah sebagian besar kesalahan yang dilakukan mahasiswa terdapat dibagian ommisin, 47 kesalahan (38.21%). Yang kedua, kesalahan misordering, 30 kesalahan ( 24.39%). Yang ketiga, kesalahan additin, 26 kesalahan ( 21.13%). Dan yang terakhir, kesalahan misformation, 20 kesalahan (16.26%). Jadi, dari hasil ini dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa sebagian besar mahaiswa di semerter dua program studi pendidilan bahasa inggris universits baturaja ini masih membuat kesalahan dalam menggunakan noun clause

Abstract

This study used weblog to improve the students’ writing skill and took the second-grade students at junior high school Sentosa Bhakti Baturaja. Then, to take the data, the reserchers used the pre-experimental design. The objective was to find out whether there was any significantly effective to improve students in writing skill by the use weblog to the eighth-grade student of SMP Sentosa Bhakti Baturaja. This study took VIII.B that consisted of 18 students as the sample by applying cluster random sampling. The data was collected by using test. The test was in from of writing test. The data obtained through test and analysis was done by using statistical analysis (paired sample t-test). The result it was found the mean score of pretests was 50 and the mean score of posttests was 73,55. Based on the data analysis the researcher concluded there was significantly effective to use weblog to improve students writing skill descriptive text at SMP Sentosa Bhakti Baturaja before and after treatment. Since, the sig. (2-tailed) =0.000 less than significant level (?=0.05), the writers concludes that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It means that there is significant effect in using a weblog to improve students writing skill at SMP Sentosa Bhakti Baturaja. Keywords: writing skill; weblog; descriptive text

Abstract

The objective of this case study is to investigate the effect of using the comment section on a Facebook group on increasing the writing ability of students at MA Pondok Pesantren Nurul Islam Seri Bandung. The study aims to determine whether utilizing the comment section can improve students' performance in writing and specifically, the material used is recount text. The participants of this study were all pupils in grade 10, with a total of 49 students. A sample of 15 students was selected through purposive sampling for the treatment class. Data was collected through a writing test consisting of 1 item and analyzed using the paired sample t-test in SPSS 22. The average pre-test score was 51.313, and the average post-test score was 85.167. The results of the data analysis showed that using the comment section on a Facebook group was significantly successful in enhancing the writing skills of students at MA Pondok Pesantren Nurul Islam Seri Bandung. Therefore, the writerss accept the alternative hypothesis (Ha) and reject the null hypothesis (Ho) as the sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 is less than the significance level (=0.05), indicating that the use of the comment column on a Facebook group was significantly beneficial in enhancing students' ability to write recount texts at MA Pondok Pesantren Nurul Islam Seri Bandung. Abstract

This study aims to find out the effectiveness of the blended learning model on reading skill for tenth grade at MA Asyifa’ Baturaja. This study used the qualitative descriptive research design. The population of this research was 19 students of Tenth grade at MA Asyifa’ Baturaja. The researcher took sample by used total sampling technique because the total population was less than 100 respondent. The data was collected by used questionnaire that consists of 20 statements that consist 0f 4 categories put forward by Keller, namely: Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction (ARCS). The researcher used descriptive statistics based on the percentages obtained from the result of recapitulation. Based on theory ARCS the researcher get the results, the attention percentage 64,4% in good category, relevance percentage 62% in good category, confidence percentage 66,75% in good category and satisfaction percentage 57,25% in fair category. From percentage of each category, the researcher get average 62,6% in the good category. The finding indicated that analysis the effectiveness of blended learning model on reading skill is good category, in sense blended learning is effective during pandemic Covid-19.

Abstract

This study is aimed at improving XI students’ speaking abilit y of SMK Sentosa Bhakti Baturaja through the use of Talking Chips. The use of Talking Chips is expected to improve students’ speaking ability. This study was categorized as an experimental research. Pre-experimental design was used in this study. There was one class for Tryout and one class as a treatment class. The population of this study was 315 and the sample was 34 students in TKJ2 class. They have been selected by using cluster random sampling. The students’ taught by using Talking Chips strategy. The data were presented in the form of transcripts. The data collected by oral test. To check whether the application of instruction run well, it was designed the students were evaluated by using paired sample t-test. The result of paired sample t-test showed that there is a significant difference between students’ score in pre-test and post-test. The result of the study shows that Talking Chips improved the teaching of speaking and the students’ speaking ability. The mean scores of pretest was 59.76 while the mean scores of post-test was 69,59. It indicates that there was a statistical difference between the mean scores of the pre-test and the post-test. This implies that there was significant improvement of students’ speaking abilit y by using talking chips strategy to the Eleventh Grade Students of SMK Sentosa Bhakti Baturaja.

Abstract

This study was to find out the students’ perception on the use of Android- based ExamBrowser as the medium to assess examination. This study used the qualitative survey method.The population of the study was the eighth and ninth grade students of SMPIT Tunas CendikiaBaturaja. The writer took all of the sample by applying total sampling consist of 85 students.The data collected through questionnaire, it consists of 35 statements. Then, the writer usedpercentage formula to analyze the data. The result of this study showed that there were manystudents who think that they were agree or had positive perception on the use of Android-based exam browser as the medium to assess examination in SMPIT Tunas Cendikia Baturaja.The data were in high criteria in each indicator. Students' interest/intention from the eighthgraders (73,62%) and the ninth graders (64,90%), students' perceived usefulness from theeighth graders (74,07%) and the ninth graders (56,46%), students' perceived of ease of usefrom the eighth graders (59,26%) and the ninth graders (58,33%) and students' Androidattitude from the eighth graders (68,52%) and the ninth graders (60,20%). From the result,students’ anxiety from the nineth grade (44,39%) disagree or indicate to negative perceptionabout the use of Android-based exam browser as the medium to assess examination in SMPITTunas Cendikia Baturaja. It was because Android-based Exam Browser still intimidated andmade them feel afraid of making mistakes in using Android- based exam browser, beside thatalso anxious and nervous due to sometimes their Android did not as friendly as hangs, runsout of battery, and disconnected from the connection server.
