Abstract

The rapid development of digital communication technologies has fundamentally transformed how individuals construct, present, and manage their identities in contemporary society. However, most previous studies have emphasized personal branding primarily as a marketing strategy rather than as a process of identity construction and self-representation, resulting in a conceptual gap in understanding the psychological, social, and symbolic dimensions of personal branding. This study aims to analyze personal branding as a process of identity construction and self-representation in the digital context, as well as to identify conceptual patterns, thematic developments, and its professional implications. The research method employs a systematic literature review using the PRISMA approach on Scopus-indexed journal articles published between 2010 and 2026. A total of 738 articles were identified in the initial stage, and after the selection process based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, 47 articles were obtained and analyzed bibliometrically and thematically using co-occurrence analysis, publication trends, and citation impact. The findings indicate that personal branding is a multidimensional process that integrates psychological identity construction, symbolic communication, and social interaction within digital environments. Authenticity, digital visibility, and social interaction emerge as key elements in shaping credibility, professional recognition, and career opportunities. Furthermore, digital platforms function as primary spaces for identity construction, enabling individuals to actively manage their self-representation and build professional legitimacy. The implications of this study affirm that personal branding is not merely a communication strategy, but a psychological and social process that plays a crucial role in professional identity development, employability enhancement, and career mobility in the digital era, while also contributing theoretically to the integration of identity psychology, communication, and branding perspectives in understanding contemporary self-representation.

Using qualitative research methods such as observation, interviews, and documentation, the research project investigates the backgrounds of Sayyid women who marry non-Sayyid men and assesses the consequent effect on familial connections within the system of marriage of other descendants in Cikoang Village, Takalar Regency. The main objectives of this study are twofold: first, to explain the history of Sayyid women, and second, to examine the effects of family disputes on the system of marriage among Sayyid descendants in Cikoang Village, Takalar Regency. The Sayyid community's complex concerns, which cause family conflicts, vary and are intertwined with both internal familial regulations and larger cultural standards. Typically, disputes within the Sayyid community arise when women choose to marry outside their clan, pick partners who are not of Sayyid heritage, and eventually decide to leave or disassociate themselves from their family.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the construction of cultural identity in the digital space through the communication strategies employed by Facebook Pro creators from Enrekang to build audience engagement. This study uses a qualitative approach with the netnography method to understand communication practices, cultural representations, and social interactions occurring in digital media. Research data was obtained through observation of Facebook Pro creators’ content, interactions in the comment section, digital documentation, and analysis of communication activities occurring on the Facebook Pro platform. The results indicate that Facebook Pro creators in Enrekang construct cultural identity through the use of local language, regional humor, and representations of daily life. These local cultural elements are utilized as communication strategies to foster emotional closeness with the audience. Creators also employ interactive communication through active responses in the comment section, thereby building closer social relationships with the audience. On the other hand, the audience plays a role in reinforcing cultural identity through the use of the local language, providing comments, and participating in digital interactions. Social media is not only a means of communication and entertainment but also a space for the representation of local culture and the formation of social identity in the digital age.

Abstract

Industri gim digital berkembang pesat seiring pertumbuhan ekonomi digital global, terutama melalui monetisasi berbasis virtual goods.

Abstract

Advances in communication technology and social media have significantly transformed the travel industry, particularly through the emergence of travel influencers on a variety of social media platforms. Specifically, this study aims to identify the patterns of parasocial interactions between travel micro-influencers and their viewers on YouTube. Parasocial interaction is defined as one-sided interaction with media personalities during media exposure. The data were collected from YouTube’s travel videos about Yogyakarta as one of the most visited cities in Indonesia, which were produced by five Indonesian travel micro-influencers who have followers under 100.000. Using qualitative content analysis, the video content and comments were coded and examined. The findings reveal that micro-influencers create parasocial interaction patterns through several key aspects, including physical attractiveness, interpersonal communication skills, information sharing, destination appeal, production techniques, and confirmation. Meanwhile, the audience engages in a parasocial manner through expressions of admiration and appreciation, active involvement, interaction, emotional bonds, inspiration, and practical influence. Although the established interaction is primarily one-way, some of these interactions are reciprocal, such as when the influencers reply to the viewer's comments. This pattern of interaction demonstrates that YouTube serves as a platform for creating and maintaining parasocial relationships between viewers and influencers in addition to operating as a platform for content distribution.
