Abstract

The main target of a steering system is that the driver can change vehicle trajectory in accordance with the desired direction.  Power steering has become a standard feature in automobile.  It provides assisting power when the driver turns the steering wheel. The well-known power steering types include; Hydraulic Power Steering (HPS), Electro - Hydraulic Power Steering (EHPS), and Electric Power Steering (EPS). EHPS or EPS uses an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) which is specific for each vehicle. The ECU should be able to regulate power of electric motor to provide corresponding assisting power for the steering wheel. Therefore ECU requires input signals, one of which is vehicle wheel angle that can be indicated from the vehicle steering wheel angle. Incremental type of Rotary Encoder (RE) is used in steering angle sensor on a minibus. RE specification used was 60 pulses per rotation and the minibus steering transmission specification is 3.5 round of right wheel off angle to the left wheel off angle. So we get the RE angular resolution 6ºper pulse and 105 number of pulses to half of the steering transmission ratio. Repeatability then tested against to a steering angle counter module. Testing is done with a test cycle consisting of 3 repetitions: condition center of the steering wheel, the steering wheel is turned to full right, then to the full left, then back to the right up to the steering wheel center. The results obtained 2 pulses deviation, or equivalent to 12º of steering angle.

Abstract

Modification of combustion system from indirect injection (IDI) to direct injection (DI) was carried out on the two cylinder diesel engine, followed with tests for performance and emission. The modification from IDI to DI was conducted on a two cylinder diesel engine by removing the pre-chamber from the inside of the cylinder head, replacing the injector and its position to the top of the combustion chamber directly and also replacing the original piston with a piston that has a bowl on the crown. Performance and emission tests were conducted on 1,500 rpm with loads that vary from 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, to 60 Nm. The investigation results of the diesel engine modification from IDI to DI showed several interesting phenomena. Further research is needed in order to increase the engine performance and reduce its emission.

Abstract

A preliminary study of Class-E radio frequency power amplifier for wireless capacitive power transfer (CPT) system is presented in this paper. Due to a limitation in coupling capacitance value, a high frequency operation of switching power inverter is necessary for the CPT system. A GaN MOSFET offers reliability and performance in a high frequency operation with an improved efficiency over a silicon device. Design specification related to the parallel load parameter, LC impedance matching and experimental analysis of the amplifier is explored. An experimental setup for the proposed inverter and its integration with the CPT system is provided, and the power efficiency is investigated. As a result, by utilizing a 6.78 MHz resonant frequency and a 50 Ω resistive load, 50 W of power has been transmitted successfully with an end to end system efficiency over 81 %. Additionally, above 17 W wireless power transfer was demonstrated successfully in the CPT system under 6 pF coupling with the efficiency over 70 %.

Abstract

This research proposes a mechanism that enables the battery swapping station (BSS) to provide battery swap services for multiple types of batteries, termed battery heterogeneity, utilized in electric motorcycles. The number of batteries for each type is established. The battery charging cost is calculated in real time, and the station's profit is maximized by optimizing battery swap scheduling. The issues are modeled as a mixed-integer non-linear problem (MINLP), then linearized as a mixed-integer linear problem (MILP), using the grid electricity price from the real-time pricing mechanism to calculate the battery's charging/discharging cost. Swap scheduling is optimized using the rolling horizon optimization (RHO) approach, which takes into account a variety of constraints. These constraints include battery type, battery SoC, arrival time of the electric motorcycle, grid electricity pricing at time t, and battery power utilization. The long-short term memory (LSTM) predicts the electric motorcycles' arrival time at t+1 based on prior data. The results show that optimization scheduling generates a higher overall profit per day than unscheduled operation. Profit by the RHO-LSTM method is 23.77 % greater than by the RHO-Polynomial method and 0.26 % greater than by unscheduled operation. Furthermore, the number of batteries provided by the RHO-LSTM method is 40 % greater than by the RHO-polynomial method.
