Abstract

The background of this research is the students easy forget with concept that cannot give opinions and ideas. The purpose of this research such as, (1) to know how development students understanding of Mathematis concept, (2) to know what students understanding of Mathematis concept that use operan kertas ide technique is more good than students understanding of Mathematis concept by using conventional learning at class of VIII SMPN 3 Lengayang. This research is experiment research with random design toward subject. The population in this research is all of student at class of VIII SMPN 3 Lengayang of year 2013/2014. Technique of sampling is done by random sampling, furthermore it is chosen VIII.3 class as experiment class and VIII.4 class as control class. Instrument of this research is quiz and final test that is formed valid and reliable test in 0,83. Based the data analysis is knew that both of classes is normal distribution and homogeny in real taraf . Hyphotesis test result is got p-value  which is more little than , so hyphotesis is accept. In conclusion that students understanding of Mathematis concept is applay by using convensional learning at class of VIII SMPN 3 Lengayang.

Abstract

This research was done due to the grade-VII students’ mathematic communication at SMPN 1 Sijunjung which was low. The research aimed at finding out whether the grade-XI students’ understanding of mathematic communication by implementing the dreadlines strategy was better than by implementing the conventional strategy. The design of the research was experimental research. The population was all grade-VII students at SMPN 1 Sijunjung of 2012-2013. The sample was taken randomly. Grade VII 1 was the experiment group while grade VII 2 was the control group. The instruments of the research were post-test and communication indicators. The test used was essay test with its reliability r11 = 0.93 the data were analyzed by using the one-way t-test using MINITAB. Based on the result of hypothesis analysis, it was obtained the P-Value = 0,001 which meant lower than α = 0,05 so that the hypothesis of the research was accepted. Therefore, it was concluded that students’ mathematic communication using the dreadlines strategy was better than students’ mathematic communication using the conventional learning.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was designed for revealing whether the mathematics conceptual understanding of the students taught by using Practice Rehearsal Pairs was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning. This was an experimental research which used random toward the subject design. The population of the research was the students in class VIII of SMPN 1 Lembah Melintang. In collecting the data a quiz and a posttest were administered. The data gathered then was analyzed by using MINITAB. Based on the result of data analysis, it was found that the average score of the students in the experimental class (73,23) was higher than those in the control class (61,23). Thus, it was concluded that the mathematics conceptual understanding of the students taught by using Practice Rehearsal Pairs was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning in class VIII of SMPN 1 Lembah Melintang .

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was motivated by the lack of mathematical concepts understanding in class VIII SMP 18 Sijunjung. Students were less active in following the learning process of mathematics. This study aims to determine how the activity of learning and students understanding of mathematical concepts using Learning Cycle accompanied Handout. This research was an experimental study. Design of research is random subject. The instrument used in this study was the observation sheet activity and the final test of learning outcomes in the form of essays.  Based on the analysis of data observation sheet, this was known that the activity of learning activities of students had increased. The average learning outcomes of experimental class at the end of the test was = 86,81 and the average grade control = 75,38. Through t-test, the results of testing the hypothesis were t-test = 3,8 and t-table = 1,6785. Here t-test > t-table. In conclusion, the students understanding of mathematical concepts using Learning Cycle with Handout is better than the understanding of students mathematical concepts using the conventional teaching.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe background reason of this research is the understanding of mathematical concept that still low and the students are still irresponsible for the assignment given by the teacher. The aim of this research is to know whether the understanding of the mathematical concept of the student will be better if cooperative learning method TGT is applied rather than  the conventional way to the 9th grade students of MTsN Tarusan School year 2013/2014. The type of this research is experimental research, with random research design to subject. The instrument used for this research is the mathematical concept quiz and test. Based on the test result, its shown that one of the sample class is not normally distributed. Data analysis was done by using Mann-U Whitney test with the help of minitab. The result of the hypothesis test is p-value=0.0073. it is seen that the p-value < α, then the hypothesis of the research is acceptable. So it is concluded that the understanding of the mathematical concept of the student will be better by using the cooperative learning method TGT rather than the conventional way of 9th grade students of MTsN Tarusan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was carried out due to the students’ low understanding of mathematical concept in class VIII of SMPN 2 Padang. This research was intended to reveal the development of the students’ understanding of mathematical concept by using True Or False Statement active learning strategy an to see  whether the mathematical conceptual understanding of the student taugh by using True Or False Statement active learning strategy was better than that of student taught by using conventional learning in class VIII of SMPN 26 Padang. The instrument of the research were a quiz and a posttest. The data gotten was analyzed by using    t-test assisted with software MINITAB. Based on the result of dat a analysis, it was figured out that p-value was smaller than a indicating that the mathematical conceptual understanding of the students taught by using True Or False Statement active learning strategy was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning.

Abstract

The drawing a graph of the equation is positioned by it as the material prerequisites that must be mastered to solve the problems on the subject. However, based on teaching experience for many students who indicated not been able to describe the graph equation graph. The study aims to describe the students' ability to draw graphs of quadratic and line equations,of first-year students who took Calculus subject at Mathematics Department, Padang, Indonesia. The data source was selected purposive and snowball sampling. Sources of data in this study were 70 first year students in Differential Calculus subject class. Research shows that understanding of students to graph a quadratic equation is still very low, they often mixed graphs of quadratic equations and linear equations, and understanding of students to graph line equation is still very low, especially on understanding the line y = k and x = k, k is a number

Abstract

The ability that students must achieve is the ability to solve mathematical problems. It can be seen from the results of the initial assessment that problem-solving skills in class IX SMP Negeri 7 Padang need to be improved. This study examines the development of mathematical problem-solving skills during the application of the REACT model and analyzes students' abilities using the REACT model superior to the direct learning model. Nonequivalent only posttest control grub research design with quasi-experimental method, and random sampling technique. From the results of the hypothesis test, P-value = 0.000. It can be concluded that the problem-solving ability of students applied by the REACT model is superior to the direct learning model.Keywords: Model REACT, Mathematical Problem Solving  Skills, Direct Learning

Abstract

─ The capacity to solve mathematical problems plays a significant role in the math learning process. However, students at SMPN 12 Padang showed Students at SMPN 12 Padang showed a low degree of proficiency in solving problems in mathematics. Therefore, a study was conducted to illustrate the ability of learners using the SSCS learning model to solve mathematical problems more effectively than the mathematical problem-solving abilities of learners in SMPN 12 Padang's class VIII who used the conventional learning model. Quasi-experiment with randomised posttest-only control group design. According to the data analysis results, the P-value was 0.000 and the significance level was 0.05. Due to the P-value being less than 0.05, the null hypothesis (H_0) is rejected. Thus, It may be said that learners who apply the SSCS learning model have more effective problem-solving abilities than students who use the conventional learning model.Keywords ─ Mathematical problem-solving ability, SSCS

Abstract

The purpose of learning mathematics is mathematical problem solving, thus students must have this competence. However, initial assessments at SMA N 1 Lareh Sago Halaban in class XI showed that each component of mathematical problem solving was remained below grade. One endeavour used the SSCS learning methodology. This study examines how the SSCS model improves students' mathematical problem-solving skills and if it outperforms the direct learning model. This study used quasi-experimental methods. A posttest-only non-equivalent group design was utilised in this investigation, with a significance threshold of α = 0.05 Simple random sampling was used. Research findings were t-tested. SMA N 1 Lareh Sago Halaban students taught utilising the SSCS technique have better mathematical problem-solving skills than those taught directly.Keywords– Mathematical Problem Solving Ability, SSCS, Direct Learning.
