Abstract

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has caused the condition of the banking sector, both conventional and sharia, in Indonesia to be unstable due to the policy of limiting the Covid-19 pandemic period which affects the efficiency of bank performance on credit and financing activities disbursed as well as bank operations. This research aims to measure the level of efficiency of Conventional Commercial Banks (CCB) and Sharia Commercial Banks (SCB) in Indonesia after the Covid-19 pandemic and to find out whether or not there is a difference in efficiency between CCB and SCB after the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with a Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) analysis model and a different test with the inputs used, namely capital, assets, deposits, and operational costs, then the output consists of credit and financing realization, as well as operating income. The results showed that CCB achieved an average efficiency level of 98.8 percent and SCB achieved an average efficiency level of 98.6 percent, which means that both banks have reached high efficiency levels after the Covid-19 pandemic. Then CCB and SCB experienced fluctuations that tended to be the same, so that the results of different tests showed a probability value of 0.9138 and greater than 0.05, then H0 was accepted which means that there is significantly no difference between the efficiency of CCB and SCB after the Covid-19 pandemic. Abstract

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has contributed significantly to the instability of the banking sector, both conventional and sharia, in Indonesia. Policies taken during the pandemic have influenced credit and financing activities carried out by banks, resulting in a significant impact on their performance. Declining performance is a serious challenge for these banks, prompting the need to improve capital structures post-pandemic. Analysis of efficiency levels is crucial in initiating bank performance and identifying areas that need improvement. This research uses quantitative methods with Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to measure the level of efficiency of Conventional Commercial Banks (BUK) and Sharia Commercial Banks (BUS) in Indonesia after the Covid-19 pandemic. The research results show that both types of banks have achieved high levels of efficiency, with BUK reaching 98.8 percent and BUS reaching 98.6 percent. Even though there are likely to be similar spikes in the performance of BUK and BUS, other tests show that there is no significant difference between the efficiency of the two after the Covid-19 pandemic. This indicates that the challenges faced by the banking sector in Indonesia due to the pandemic have been well addressed by both types of banks, which have been able to maintain their efficiency.

Abstract

Fluctuations in the price of basic commodities have an impact on public unrest through a decrease in purchasing power, a decrease in the agricultural sector's GDP, and inflation. The Government's role is to maintain the stability of staple food prices to control prices in the market by analyzing price fluctuation patterns and forecasting prices of staple goods in the coming period to anticipate policies taken and make plans to avoid uncontrolled price fluctuations. Using quantitative research methods with analytical descriptives it can be seen that the data patterns and staple materials are the most volatile. The variable used is time series data of 9 staple food prices which were processed using the coefficient of variation analysis method which was operated using Microsoft Excel 2013. The results of data processing concluded that the staple commodities which often experience uncontrolled price fluctuations are red chilies, bird's eye chilies, shallots, and cooking oil. The reason is because the three highest staples whose values fluctuate the most are agricultural commodities which are affected by the harvest period, weather, and shelf life which cannot last long. The fluctuation pattern occurs near the fasting month before Eid and when Christmas and New Year celebrations, staple foods tend to fluctuate. While the high cooking oil commodity is due to the phenomenon of the increase in world palm oil. The appropriate policy taken by the Government is to periodically control and participate in confirming and mapping national food production areas, maintaining supply and distribution, and educating consumers about rising prices of basic commodities.
