Abstract

In education 4.0, digital technology and information systems need to be implemente in the education sector from the school to the university level. Specifically, the Geographic Information System (GIS) application needs to be mastered for the geography teachers to develop creativity related to their learning material. Based on this reason, the community dedication activity aims to improve the competency of geography teachers in the South Sumatera Province in the application of GIS for environmental studies. The method used in this activity is the GIS webinar activity and the evaluation of the action using a questionnaire. The results found that all participating teachers have well understood the webinar material. It indicates the output of the comprehension index polls before and after joining the webinar, which increased from 35% to 86%. Besides, another result also showed that the majority of teachers gave high assessments of the percentage satisfaction index that related to some aspects such as webinar activity (91.9%), speaker (87.9%), and the relevance of webinar materials to their job (96.8%). In conclusion, this webinar activity has a tremendous positive impact in improving the competency of geography teachers, especially for the application of GIS for environmental studies.

Abstract

Abstract

World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that COVID-19 as a global pandemic and public health emergency. Previous studies have revealed that COVID-19 was an infectious disease and it could remain viable in ambient air for hours. Therefore, this study aims to examine the correlation between air pollutants (PM2.5, PM10, CO, SO2, NO2 and O3) and COVID-19 spread in Jakarta, Indonesia. Furthermore, this study also evaluates the impact of large-scale social restriction (LSSR) on air pollution index (API). Result of study found that air pollution index of PM2.5, PM10, CO, SO2 and NO2 decreased by 9.48%, 15.74%, 29.17%, 6.26% and 18.34% during LSSR period. While, for O3 showed an increase by 4.06%. Another result also found significantly positive correlations of SO2, CO and PM2.5 with COVID-19 cases. An exposure to SO2, CO and PM2.5 has driven the area become vulnerable for COVID-19 infection. Our findings indicated that the relationship between air pollutants and COVID-19 spread could provide a new notion for precaution and control method of COVID-19 outbreak.

Abstract

The community development program is a prominent activity to identify and overcome local issues within community. The training and assistance program for solar cell technology application is useful to improve knowledge of community in Ujan Mas village, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra. The objective of this activity is to transfer knowledge of solar cell technology starting from construction to application process. The tehnique used in this community service program is the locality development approach. This activity conducted for two days (3-4 September 2022). This activity resulted in enhancing the community’s knowledge of implementing solar cell technology with a 92% understanding rate, and also reducing electrical bill of community. In addition, this activity is one of a way to support the Indonesian government program to build an eletrical independent village or city. For future community development activities, we suggest to give a training program for other green energies such as biogas which used domestic and agricultural wastes to produce eletricity.
