Abstract

Abstract: The classroom action research is consisting two cycles. The research purpose is to know activities and learning outcomes of students SMAN 9 Pekanbaru, especially on chemistry subject, solubility equilibrium by used talking chips cooperative model. Subjects research are 39 students, class XI MIA 6 which consisted 17 boys and 22 girls students. Techniques used to collect data include observation and tests. Data analysis using descriptive analysis. The results showed that the percentage of learning activities of students I cycle of 64.58% increased in cycle II to 81.25%. The percentage of students' learning outcomes also increased in cycle I by 64.10% to 89.74% in cycle II. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the application of cooperative learning model type of talking chips can improve the activity and learning outcomes of students Class XI MIA 6 SMAN 9 Pekanbaru On the subject of Solubility Equilibrium.Key words: Activity, Learning outcomes, Talking Chips, Solubility Equilibrium

Abstract

Abstract: Research on application of learning model of Quantum Teaching has been done to know the improvement of learning achievement of learners on stoichiometric subject in class X SMA Negeri 2 Pekanbaru. Form of research conducted is experimental research with pretest-posttest design. This study was conducted on the even semester of the academic year 2017/2018. The sample consists of two classes of class X MIPA 2 as the experimental class chosen at random after the normality test and homogeneity test. The experimental class is the treated class by applying the Quantum Teaching learning model. Data analysis technique used is t-test. Based on the results of final data processing using t-test formula obtained thitung> ttable (2.47> 1.67) means the application of learning model Quantum Teaching can improve student achievement in class X MIPA SMA Negeri 2 Pekanbaru. Keywords: Quantum Teaching, Learning Achievement, stoichiometric

Abstract

Abstract: This development research aims to produce a pocket book on the subject of atomic structure and the periodic system of elements. The method used is the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model. Broadly speaking, the stages of research and development include Analysis (analysis stage), Design (design stage), Development (development stage), Implementation (implementation stage), and Evaluation (evaluation stage). This research was carried out until the development stage and then continued with one-on-one trials and user response trials. The resulting product is a valid pocket book based on content feasibility aspects, linguistic feasibility aspects, presentation feasibility aspects, and graphic feasibility aspects. The average score of the four aspects of pocket book feasibility in a row are 97.2%, 96.9 92.8%, and 97.6%. So the overall average score of validation is 96.1% with valid/feasible criteria. The results of trials on teachers and students obtained an average percentage of 95.8% by teachers and 95.9% by students with very good criteria.Key words: Research and Development, ADDIE, Teaching Materials, Pocket Books, Atomic Structure and Periodic System of Elements

Abstract

Abstract: The research about the GQGA (Giving Question and Getting Answer), model has been conducted in SMAN 4 Pekanbaru. The purpose of this research is to determine wheterthe application of GQGA learning can improve achievement and the influence of application of GQGA learning model in class X IPA SMAN 4 Pekanbaru on the subject improve category N-Gain, Research on the application of cooperative learning model GQGA assisted with couple card media has been done to improve student’s achievement on the subject of stoichiometry. Form of research is experiment research with pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of two classes, X MIPA 1 class as experiment and X MIPA 3 class as control that randomly selected after testing normality and homogeneity. Experiment class was treated with implementing cooperative learning model GQGA Giving Question and Getting Answer assisted with couple card media and the control class was treated conventional method. Analysis of data used t-test. Data of research obtained tcount > ttable (7,9 > 1,67). It means that using cooperative learning model GQGA assisted with couple card media can improve student’s achievement on the subject of stoichiometry in class X of SMAN 4 Pekanbaru. The category improvement of student’s achievement in experiment class was high category (N-Gain =0,84) and in control class was medium category (N-Gain =0,69).Key Words: GQGA (Giving Question and Getting Answer) Student’s Achievement.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aimed to increase students achievement by use of unocard games as a chemo-edutainment media on learning topic of colloid in XI MIASMAN 2 Pekanbaru. The type of this research is experimental research withrandomized control group pretest-posttest design. Subject of this research are XI MIA 4as the experimental class, XI MIA 3 as the control class which were determinedrandomly after conducting normality and homogeneity test. The experimental groupwas treated with the use of uno card games while the control group without the use ofuno card games. The data analysis to test the hypothesis was using t-test right side.Based on the data analysis, it is obtaine tcount = 2,10 and ttable = 1,66 with α=0,05, dk =77, tcount > ttable is 2,10 > 1,66, It’s mean that use of uno card games as a chemoedutainmentmedia can improve students achievement on the subject of colloid in XIMIA SMA Negeri 2 Pekanbaru. The influence by use of uno card games as a chemoedutainmentmedia to improvement of the student achievement as high as 5,4%.Keywords: Game Uno Card, Learning Achievement.

Abstract

The implementation of learning media based on ICT (Information and Communication Technology) on chemistry was found to be very low. For this reason, ICT-based chemistry learning media which utilized autoplay application were developed in this research. The validated product of the learning media based by autoplay on chemistry can be implemented as a learning medium to improve students' communicative character. This research was designed by using the Plomp model in the form of Research and Development (R&D). Data of this research were collected by validation sheets, questionnaire responses (teachers and students), and communicative observation sheets with descriptive statistical analyses and independent sample t test. The validity results showed that the average percentage from media expert and material expert judgment were 88.25% and 91.69% with a category of valid. Moreover, the results of the response of teachers and students respectively obtained an average percentage score of 85% and 81% with a category of very interesting. Then, the results of the independent sample t test for 0,000 <0.05 indicated that there were significant differences in the communicative character of students before and after the use of learning media based on autoplay on chemistry with a percentage of 72.25%.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has had a major influence on the field of education, particularly in improving the quality of learning through the use of digital media. The use of Android-based learning media is one relevant alternative because smartphones have become part of students’ daily activities. In chemistry learning, chemical bonding material is often considered difficult to understand because it contains abstract concepts that cannot be observed directly, so learning media are needed that can visualize concepts more concretely and interactively. This study aims to develop Android-based learning media assisted by Web Kodular on chemical bonding material for Grade XI senior high school/Islamic senior high school or equivalent that is valid and obtains good user responses. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with a modification of the 4D development model into three stages, namely definition, design, and development. The developed product was validated by material validators, pedagogical validators, and media validators. The assessed aspects included content feasibility, presentation feasibility, instructional feasibility, language feasibility, technical quality, instructional communication media, and effects on learning strategies. Subsequently, one-to-one trials were conducted with three students of different ability levels, along with user response testing involving teachers and students. The results showed that the Android-based learning media assisted by Web Kodular on chemical bonding material were declared valid based on the results of material, pedagogical, and media validation. In addition, user responses to the developed media were in the very good category. Teachers gave positive responses regarding the aspects of learning media use, media display, clarity of presentation, and motivation, whereas students gave positive responses regarding ease of use and navigation, display, material, and motivation. The conclusion of this study affirms that Android-based learning media assisted by Web Kodular are feasible for use as chemistry learning media on chemical bonding material for Grade XI senior high school/Islamic senior high school or equivalent.

Abstract

Misconceptions about buffer solutions are an important issue in chemistry learning because they can affect students’ understanding of advanced concepts related to acid–base equilibrium. This study aims to identify students’ misconceptions about Grade XI buffer solution material at SMA Negeri 15 Pekanbaru. This study used a descriptive analytical method with a quantitative approach. The research sample consisted of 122 Grade XII students at SMA Negeri 15 Pekanbaru who had studied buffer solution material. Data were collected using a five-tier diagnostic test instrument consisting of 20 items as well as interviews using a purposive sampling technique. The results showed that students’ misconceptions about buffer solution material as a whole reached 26.71% and fell into the low category. Based on the concepts analyzed, misconceptions about the definition of buffer solutions reached 27.14%, the properties of buffer solutions 30.60%, the working principles of buffer solutions 16.39%, differences among buffer solutions 25.41%, pH calculations for buffer solutions 30.21%, the role of buffer solutions in the human body 25.00%, and methods of preparing buffer solutions 32.24%. The identified sources of misconceptions came from books at 12.581%, teachers 8.45%, personal reasoning 65.19%, peers 10.28%, and the internet 3.82%. The conclusion of this study affirms that students’ misconceptions about buffer solution material are still found in several concepts, especially in preparation methods, properties, and pH calculations of buffer solutions. These findings provide a practical contribution for chemistry teachers in designing more appropriate learning strategies and diagnostic evaluations to reduce misconceptions about buffer solution material.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is an important competence in chemistry learning because it supports students in understanding concepts, applying scientific knowledge, and interpreting phenomena rationally. However, the relationship between chemical scientific literacy and students’ learning achievement on the topic of the Basic Laws of Chemistry still needs to be examined empirically. This study aims to describe chemical scientific literacy, students’ learning achievement, and analyze the relationship between chemical scientific literacy and learning achievement on the topic of the Basic Laws of Chemistry at SMAN 5 Pekanbaru. This study used a correlational quantitative approach with a survey method. The research sample consisted of 98 Grade XI students selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through a chemical scientific literacy test based on PISA scientific literacy dimensions and documentation of learning achievement scores, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results showed that students’ chemical scientific literacy was in the high category, with an average score of 79.63, whereas learning achievement was in the good category, with an average score of 87.57. The correlation test results showed a positive and significant relationship between chemical scientific literacy and students’ learning achievement (r_s = 0.537; p < 0.001). These findings indicate that the higher students’ chemical scientific literacy, the higher the learning achievement attained on the topic of the Basic Laws of Chemistry. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of strengthening scientific literacy in chemistry learning to support conceptual understanding and improve learning achievement. The implications of this study provide practical contributions for chemistry teachers in designing learning oriented toward the development of scientific literacy and the achievement of more optimal learning outcomes.
