Abstract

The population density of natural agarwood (Aquilaria beccariana) in Indonesia decreased to less than one tree per hectare. Efforts have been carried out on ex situ conservation of agarwood despite facing many obstacles. In vitro propagation is one alternative to speed up the recovery of natural agarwood populations. The purpose of this study was to obtain optimal elongation media for in vitro culture with addition of auxin and cytokinin, namely IBA, BAP and kinetin. The results showed that the best auxin-cytokinin combination was IBA 0.1 mg/L and BAP 0.05 mg/L. This combination increased the height and number of segments of A. beccariana with an average height of 1.64 cm and average number of sections of 6.40. It is suggested that this combination of IBA and BAP was the most effective compared to the other treatments. In addition, the combination of IBA 0 mg/L and BAP 0.03 mg/L gave rise to the best response to increase the number of shoots with an average of 1.91 shoots.Keywords: Aquilaria beccariana, shoot, elongation, auxin, cytokinin ABSTRAKKepadatan populasi gaharu (Aquilaria beccariana) alam di Indonesia kurang dari satu pohon per hektar. Upaya pelestarian gaharu ex situ telah banyak dilakukan tetapi masih banyak kendala. Perbanyakan gaharu in vitro merupakan salah satu cara alternatif untuk mempercepat pemulihan populasi gaharu alam. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh media elongasi yang optimal pada kultur in vitro gaharu dengan penambahan kombinasi zat pengatur tumbuh auksin dan sitokinin. Pada penelitian ini digunakan auksin IBA, serta sitokinin BAP dan Kinetin. Hasil penelitian elongasi diperoleh kombinasi auksin dan sitokinin terbaik yaitu, IBA 0,1 mg/L dan BAP 0,05 mg/L. Kombinasi ini meningkatkan tinggi dan jumlah ruas Aquilaria beccariana dengan tinggi rata-rata sebesar 1,64 cm dan jumlah ruas rata-rata sebesar 6,40 ruas. Pada kombinasi dan taraf ini diduga mekanisme kerja IBA dan BAP paling efektif dibanding perlakuan yang lain. Sedangkan kombinasi IBA 0 mg/L dan BAP 0,03 mg/L memberikan respon terbaik terhadap peningkatan jumlah tunas dengan rata-rata sebanyak 1,91 tunas.Kata Kunci: Aquilaria beccariana, tunas, elongasi, auksin, sitokinin

Abstract

The use of maize waste plant materials (stem, leaf, and husk cover) have high economic value to be processed become organic fertilizer for agricultural land fertilizer. Maize have several and quite high contents of macro and micro nutrients. This activity was hoped that the farmers can overcome the increasing price of inorganic fertilizer recently and furthermore farmers can reap higher income. Beside higher income the use of organic fertilizer can improve the nature and behaviourof land through improving of soil chemical, soil physical, and soil microorganism. Therefore, the appropriate technology for processing of maize become organic fertilizer is very important to be diffused or socialized to farmers.Keywords: fertilizer, maize waste

Abstract

The objectives of the research is to obtain upland data and information especially for extensifi cation of sugarcane development through optimal land fertilization. Furthermore, the impacts of this action are to increase the planting area of sugarcane and productivity. The research use Geographical Information System (GIS) in Brebes Regency, starting from June until October 2007 and the field survey was done at the end of August 2007. The results of the research showed that the suitable, conditionally suitable, and not suitable land for sugarcane cultivation in Brebes Regency reach to a high of 40,148 ha, 7,555 ha, and 124,071 ha respectively. The potential upland for sugarcane cultivation reach to a high of 38,264 ha. Based on the soil condition with low contents of N, P and K, the recommended dosage calculation of N, P, and K fertilizers for optimal sugarcane cultivation reach to a high of: N (ZA) = 575 kg/ha, P (SP-36) = 170 kg/ha, and K (KCl) = 600 kg/ha.Key words : sugarcane, upland for sugarcane

Abstract

The objective of the research is to know the effect of Alley Cropping to the land fertility, especially with the treatment of organic matter and combination between organic matter and dolomit, with regard to soybean production. The research used Complete Randomized Design with One Way Analysis of Variance, Regression, and Correlation in order to know the effect of treatment to the land fertility. The research was carried out in Cirebon Regency, West Java Province, during three planting seasons from 2007 to 2008. The results of the research showed that Flemengia congesta as a fence crop or hedgerows was signifi cant to land fertility through improvement of nutrients availability, increasing pH, decreasing availability of aluminium (Al). The effect of organic matter from prunning of the hedgerows into the soil to a high of 5,0 ton/ha will increase average soybean production from 13.974 kw/ha (dry grain) to 18.176 kw/ha or increase 30,07 %, whereas the effect of organic matter 5,0 ton/ha combined with dolomit 2,5 ton/ha will increase average soybean production from 13.974 kw/ha to 19.983 kw/ha or increase 43.00 %. The effect of organic matter 10,0 ton/ha combined with dolomit 2,5 ton/ha will increase average soybean production from 13.974 kw/ha to 21.966 kw/ha or increase 57.19 %.

Abstract

The area of Citarum Watershed is cover six regencies: Bandung, Sumedang, Cianjur, Purwakarta, Bogor, and Karawang, West Java. The role and function of upper Citarum Watershed tend to declining, where total of deforestation area reach to a high of 560,095 ha or about 78 % from the total area and part of them already become critical area reach to a high of 143.798 ha. The Debit Ratio of Citarum River or Qmax/Qmin reach to a high of 1,667, it is indicate that Citarum Watershed become very critical condition and need appropriate management especially in the upper watershed. One altervative of the watershed management is application of agricultural forestry system where it is done by integrated development among agriculture, forestry, and animal husbandry. The successful application of agricultural forestry system will lead to conserve land and water where it will support flood control, agricultural irrigation, fisheries development, electric generation, industrial development, etc.Keywords: agricultural forestry, land conservation, watershed

Abstract

The using of pesticides for agricultural pest control usually directed to plants, whereas almost of them are fall into soil. In the soil, the pesticides are very dinamics in concentration, because of several processes occur, such as chemical, and microbial processes. There are a tend that the pesticide have bad impact within the soil for crops production, especially the pesticides which have persistent active ingredient. For this reason, therefore are needed some particular soil managementin order to reduce or overcome the bad impact of pesticides in the soil. The some particular soil management are: soil tillage, using of organic matter, limming, irrigation, and application of microbial technique.Key words : pesticide, pollution

Abstract

The objective of the research is to know the cultivation land scale of farmers according to kind of commodities in order to achieve the highest farm income subject to the low land carrying capacity condition. The research use Linear Programming Technique with subject to two main constraints, that are area of cultivation and availability of man power. The research was carried out in Wonoharjo Village, Unit VIII Kuro Tidur Transmigration area, Bengkulu. The method of sampling drawn was random sampling. Number of respondentswas 60 farmers who cultivate food crops as well as estate crops. The results of the research show that the highest farm income can be achieved to a high of Rp. 2.279.217,- a year or increase amount of Rp. 511.140,- a year or 28.9 % through intensive cultivation of wetland rice = 0.261 ha, upland rice = 0.188 ha, cassava = 0.120 ha, peanut = 0,101 ha, and coffee = 0.750 ha.Kaywords: Transmigration land income

Abstract

The objectives of the research are to evaluate the suitability of land for sugarcane growth and give recommendation through land fertilization for optimal sugarcane cultivation. Furthermore, the impacts of this action are to increase the planting area of sugarcane and productivity. The research use GeographicalInformation System (GIS) in Tulungagung Regency, starting from June until October 2004. The results of the research showed that the suitable, conditionally suitable, and not suitable land for sugarcane cultivation in Tulungagung Regency reach to a high of 45,651 ha, 61,547 ha, and 6,038 ha respectively. Based on the soil condition with low contents of N, P and K, the dosage calculation of N, P, and K fertilizers for optimal sugarcane cultivation reach to a high of: N (ZA) = 500 kg/ha, P (SP-36) = 215 kg/ha, and K (KCl) = 260 kg/ha.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to know the optimal formula of Indole Butiric Acid (IBA), Naphthalene Acetic Acid (NAA), Vitamine B1 and the combination with shading intensities to the acclimatization of Gaharu stump (Aquilaria beccariana). This research used Factorial Design with basic analysis of Complete Randomized Design in order to know theeffect of treatment. The research was carried out in Agroindustry and Biotechnology Laboratory, Ciampea, Bogor, from July to September 2007. The results of the research showed that after 8 weeks of treatment: (a). The combination of 55 % shading intensity with IBA 15 mg/l + NAA 10 mg/l + Vitamine B1 1 mg/l was the best formula for increasingheight of Gaharu stump 4.660 cm. (b). The combination of 55 % shading intensity with IBA 15 mg/l + NAA 30 mg/l + Vitamine B1 1 mg/l was the best formula for increasing sum of Gaharu leaf stump 12.337 leafs, (c). The combination of 55 % shading intensity with IBA 15 mg/l + NAA 40 mg/l + Vitamine B1 1 mg/l was the best formula for increasing sumof Gaharu root stump 3.783 roots, and (d). The combination of 55 % shading intensity with IBA 15 mg/l + NAA 40 mg/l + Vitamine B1 1 mg/l was the best formula for increasing length of Gaharu root stump 3.686 cm.

Abstract

The objectives of the research are to know the description of sugarcane enterprise especially concerning with coat and income, to know the sugarcane practice as a guide to farmers within their enterprise, and to increase input guarantee of raw material to sugarcane factory. The research was carriedout through gathering primary data by using questionaire with farmers as respondents. The respondents were selected by method of Stratified Purposive Random Sampling. The field survey was done in Bondowoso Regency, from 24th August untill 7th September 2004. The data was analyzed by using: hypothesis testing, break even point analysis, and sensitivity analysis. The results of the research show that the average of net farmers income from new planted sugarcane reach to a high of Rp. 4,507,584,-/year whereas from ratoon sugarcane reach to a high of Rp 3,272,307,-/year. The recommendation for sugarcane self sufficiency is by using productive arid land especially in Java with optimally agricultural inputs and cultivate according to standard operational procedure.
