Abstract

The purpose of this study is to compare the performance of broiler production in a closed and open house system. The study was conducted on September 13-October 25, 2019, at Sumardi's broiler farm located in Kademangan Village, Pagelaran District, and Malang Regency. The material used is 120 broilers in a closed house and 120 broilers in an open house. CP-707 strain broiler chickens were given complete feed produced by PT. Charoen Pokphand Indonesia. Feed and drinking water are given ad libitum. Research variables are feed consumption, body weight, feed conversion, carcass percentage, and abdominal fat weight. Research data were tabulated and analyzed using unpaired t-test. Based on the results of statistical analysis, there is a difference between the performance of broiler production in a closed house and open house system (P<0.05). Closed house system gives a better effect on the performance of broiler production.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi penambahan bubuk bawang putih dalam pakan pada kualitas eksternal dan internal puyuh. Materi penelitian yang ke satu hari usia 240 burung puyuh betina. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimental yang dirancang oleh Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan empat perlakuan dan enam ulangan yang digunakan sepuluh burung puyuh setiap replikasi. Perlakuan yaitu P0 = pakan basal, P1 = basal pakan dengan 0,6 % bawang putih bubuk, P2 = basal pakan dengan 0,8 % bawang putih bubuk, dan P3 = basal pakan dengan 1 % bawang putih bubuk. Variabel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitas eksternal dan internal telur (berat telur, Unit Haugh, skor warna kuning telur, dan berat cangkang telur) burung puyuh. Data dianalisis dengan ANOVA dan dilanjutkan dengan uji jarak Duncan jika ada hasil yang signifikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bubuk bawang putih tidak meningkatkan persentase berat telur ( 58,71 ± 1,20 ). Pakan dengan penambahan 1 % dari bubuk bawang putih mewakili yang terbaik persentase skor warna kuning telur ( 6.33 ± 0.23 ).

Abstract

Goat farming in Wonosari District, Malang Regency, presents significant potential; however, local farmers face numerous challenges, including livestock management, record-keeping, feed quality, hygienic milking practices, marketing, and organizational issues. This 2024 Doctoral Service Program (DM) by Universitas Brawijaya aims to enhance the welfare of farmers by optimizing production management, improving milk quality, expanding marketing reach, and strengthening cooperative management. Specifically, the program seeks to increase the quantity and quality of goat milk production, improve farmer knowledge and skills in farm management and hygienic practices, and develop digital and conventional marketing strategies. Methods employed include training on feed formulation using local resources, hygienic milking practices, milk quality control, and online and offline marketing platforms. The outcomes demonstrate that the program enhanced goat milk production and quality, improved farmer knowledge and skills, expanded market access, and strengthened the cooperative’s operational structure. Post-test results showed significant improvements in farmers' abilities in feed formulation, hygienic milking, and marketing strategies. This indicates that the program effectively elevated practical skills, contributing to increased productivity, product competitiveness, and the economic empowerment of the local farming community.
