Abstract

Today, the world of education has used a lot of singing methods in studying material,  one of which is Madrasah Diniyah Roudlatut Tholibin at Jraganan Village.  The singing method carried out, specifically in Arabic subjects in grades one and two, was translated into Javanese.  This song is allegedly related to the Auditory, intellectually, and Repetition (AIR) learning model.  To prove this, this research uses qualitative research methods through observation, interviews, and literature study.  This search aims to reveal the signal of the link between the learning methods at the madrasah and the Auditory, Intellectually, and Repetition (AIR) learning model.  In addition, this study also aims to reveal the shortcomings in the singing method in the madrasah.  From the existing searches, it was found that the learning steps in the madrasah reflected the Auditory, Intellectually, and Repetition (AIR) learning model.  In addition, it is revealed that the students understand better when the meaning of Arabic is transmitted into Indonesian.

Abstract

This research explores the emergence and transformation of nature connection pathways into collaborative music by designing and implementing a nature-based collaborative music creation workshop model. Employing a practice-based approach, the study integrates four theoretical frameworks, including the Five Pathways to Nature Connection (FPNC), the Soundtalking method, Collaboration Principles, and the Music Paradigm of Creativity. The resulting three-stage model (pre-creation, collaborative creation, and post-creation) was implemented over five weeks with ten participants (aged 15-22 yearts) at the Sekolah Seni Tubaba. Data from field notes, focus group discussions, and multimodal documentation were analyzed abductively and iteratively. Findings indicate that pathways to nature connection (FPNC) can be cultivated and strengthened through nature’s sound exploration, collaborative music-making, and reflective dialogue. The analysis also produced a collaborative information-processing model that elucidates how shared understanding of nature is transformed into artistic work. The creation of two musical compositions, "Mulai Bernapas" and "Rahim Alam," proves that collaborative artistic practice can serve as an epistemological site for forming, deepening, and expanding nature connection pathways.

Abstract

Abstract

Karawitan performing arts is one of the branches of art in Indonesia. The performing arts, which are based on music, still exist are carried out by art activists or karawitan artists. Karawitan is also one of the performing arts that has the potential to develop to the global scene. On the other hand, technology is growing rapidly, forcing everyone to continue to innovate in order to keep up with the world's technological currents. Gameland is one of the innovations sparked for the development of karawitan shows. Although it is still a design, it will be very possible to implement it in the future. The research conducted for Gameland design used descriptive quality methods. By using virtual metaverse technology, this design is expected to be able to be a medium for developing karawitan performances, improving the economy of artists, and promoting culture. Through Gameland's digital technology, artists can play and perform karawitan performances anywhere, anytime, and with anyone without being limited by space and time. Gameland exists as an effort to adapt to the progress of the era so that karawitan artists can continue to exist and develop with seamless connectivity relationships through the virtual world, the metaverse.

Abstract

Although adolescents’ musical tastes have been widely examined, studies that specifically explain the mechanisms underlying the formation of dangdut musical preferences through Pierre Bourdieu’s framework of habitus, capital, and field in the context of secondary schools remain limited. This study aimed to explain how habitus, forms of capital, and the configuration of the social field contribute to shaping dangdut music preferences among students of SMA Negeri Kerjo. The research employed a qualitative and quantitative approach with a case study design, collecting data through participant observation, interviews with students who favor dangdut and key informants (dangdut singers, Art and Culture teachers, and event organizers), as well as document analysis of Google Forms survey results and digital traces on social media. Informants were selected using purposive and snowball sampling techniques, while data were analyzed thematically within Bourdieu’s theoretical perspective. The findings show that dangdut music preferences are formed through interactions across four spatial spheres: the private sphere (exposure and practice within the family/home), the communal sphere (activities with peers and communities), the formal/institutional sphere (legitimation through classroom playback and performances in official school events), and the digital sphere (the circulation of songs, trends, and content production on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram). Interactions among these spheres enable the reproduction of musical habitus, the conversion of various forms of capital (cultural, social, economic, and digital) into symbolic capital, and the acceleration of the diffusion and legitimation of dangdut within adolescents’ identity repertoires. These findings contribute to the development of the sociology of music by demonstrating that adolescents’ musical taste is not merely an individual choice, but a socially constructed preference structured within the educational field and popular culture.
