Abstract

One way to increase teacher professional development is through the provision of quality learning media, namely E-learning or Internet learning because it is a medium that can improve the quality of education. The purpose of this workshop is to be able to add new knowledge and experience for teacher in the implementation of learning methods, to be able to use the internet in the learning process and to be able to modify learning methods by utilizing information technology facilities as an effort to develop professional teachers. The method used starts from the planning stage, implementation to the evaluation stage. The workshop was carried out for two days. The first day is more focused on providing material while the second day is more focused on the practice of using e- learning module application technology. The workshop participants were very enthusiastic during the activity.

Abstract

 The study aims to find out the nursing students of AKPER YPTK Solok need in developing English materials. This research is classified as mixed method research design; qualitative research and survey research. In this research, there are two instruments; questionnaire and interview guidelines. The questionnaire aims to gain and collect information from students related to English teaching and learning. Interview guideline is used to gather information from English lecturer at AKPER YPTK Solok. The results of this research show that; (1) there are some skills and English components that are needed by the nursing students of AKPER YPTK Solok, they are; speaking skill, reading skill, vocabulary mastery, and grammar mastery. (2) This research also found that nursing students of AKPER YPTK Solok want English materials, including grammar and vocabulary related to nursing field to be more focused in teaching and learning process. Based on the results, it can be concluded that in developing English materials for nursing students, the lecturers and decision maker should know what the students and work field need through students; need analysis.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze teachers’ extrinsic motivation in teaching and learning process. This research was descriptive research. In this research, this research used participant as the sample, the participant of this research was all of English teachers in SMA Negeri 4 Kota Solok. This research, the used three instruments to find the data, they are questionnaire, interview, and field-note. There are some results of this research; it can be concluded that teacher’s extrinsic motivation: first, the participants’ response, they were allowed to work independently, their school environment was conducive and it make them be comfortable. Second, the participants enjoy with their work, they were satisfied with their job, and they have good relationship with their manager and their students. Third, the participants were satisfied with their fringe benefits, they were satisfied with current salary, they had a job in which they could perform to the best their ability, and they would like to receive more feedback about their teaching from their manager and supervisor. Fourth, the participants would like rules and procedures at work to be clearer, the course material that they use offers variety in terms of activities and task, and they would like more involvement in the process of setting their students’ learning goal. Keyword: teaching and learning process, motivation, extrinsic motivation

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Inquiry-Based Learning on students' reading comprehension on analytical exposition text in the eleventh graders of MIPA of MAN 3 Pasaman Barat. The study was prompted by a number of issues that arise on a regular basis during the teaching and learning process, particularly in senior high school. The key issue that will be addressed in this study is the usage of teacher-centered learning, which prevents students from actively participating in the learning process. The experimental research was used in this study. The participants in this study were the eleventh graders of MIPA of MAN 3 Pasaman Barat. This study's sample consisted of 35 students from the XI MIPA 1 class as the experimental class and 35 students from the XI MIPA 2 class as the control class. According to the findings of this study, the mean score post-test experiment class was 68.15, whereas the control class was 64.07. As a result, the experimental class outperformed the control class. The reading ability of students was assessed using the t-test, which yielded Tcalculated = 2.13 and Ttable(0.95:62) = 1.676 at a 95% confidence level. It can be concluded that tcalculated > ttabel, as H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. Thus, inquiry-based learning had a significant effect towards students' reading comprehension of analytical exposition text.

Abstract

Training for arts and culture and crafts subjects in elementary schools aims to gain and share knowledge with teachers and students. The problem encountered is that teachers only use the lecture method, with this activity teachers are free to use any methods, models, media and strategies for the learning process. This activity aims to: (1) so that teachers increase their knowledge regarding the independent learning curriculum, especially in Arts, Culture and Crafts subjects in elementary schools, (2) so that teachers have various teaching methods in Arts, Culture and Crafts subjects, (3) exchange ideas with the school on Arts, Culture and Crafts subjects so that the learning process runs smoothly, what needs must be provided by the school, and (4) guiding teachers to prepare materials with the aim of creating the latest student worksheets and the latest modules for arts, culture and crafts subjects . With this training, teachers better understand what steps must be taken to add ideas, change the mindset that the independent learning curriculum is not difficult. It's just that the method is slightly differentiated so that competency is achieved and learning evaluation improves and it is easy to foster students' interests and talents. The method used is a qualitative method with a participatory approach with preparation, implementation and evaluation stages. The expected results in this community service activity are that teachers are able to prepare arts and culture materials and crafts according to curriculum needs and teachers are able to stimulate interest and talent in the arts and culture and crafts learning process in elementary schools.
