Abstract

Internal communication is the key to the sustainability of an organization. Educational Institutions such as schools capable to maintain quality, even in the middle of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Quality and grade are largely determined by the work motivation of teachers in the school. This research will examine the implementation of internal communication at GMIM IV Tomohon Elementary School in motivating teacher’s performance so it will remain productive, creative, and innovative in providing teaching and assistance to students, even during the Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study to determine and understand the implementation of internal communication in increasing the work motivation of teachers at GMIM IV Tomohon Elementary School. This research used is a qualitative approach method with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews with three informants selected by purposive technique. The results showed that the implementation of internal communication at the Tomohon was able to increase teacher’s work motivation even during the Covid-19 pandemic. The researcher found various communication strategies employed by the principal to create effective vertical and horizontal communication. Group communication and interpersonal communication neither formally and informally can create an atmosphere of mutual assistance in the constraints of work and are open to receive input and suggestions that can increase the motivation of teachers' work.

Abstract

This study aims to see and understand interpersonal communication through style serving leadership is carried out by the head of the Tomohon Christian Middle School. This research uses descriptive qualitative approach. By using servant leadership theory according to Greenleaf which describes ten factors of leadership serving, listening, empathy, restoration, awareness, persuasion, conceptualization, foresight, management, commitment to community growth, and building community. The method used in this research is qualitative research methods descriptive. The data procedure uses two sources, namely primary data obtained from interviews and secondary data obtained from literature studies. From the results research can be denied that the Principal of SMP Kristen Tomohon applies ten serving style leadership (servant leadership) according to Robert K. Greenleaf and This serving leadership style is very supportive of effective interpersonal communication. The results showed that statements of listening, recovery, awareness and persuasion in the context of serving leadership is also a stage in the process interpersonal communication carried out by the principal. The results showed There are two obstacles in the interpersonal communication run by the principal and the principals teachers or employees (subordinates), including understanding communication and service. Findings in this study shows that the application of style can serve minimize the obstacles that occur in the process of interpersonal communication between leaders with subordinates.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the motives for watching Christian Influencer's Word of God content on TiktTok Social Media using Uses and Gratification Theory analysis. According to Katz, Gurevitch and Haas (1973), the motives in question are based on needs that are satisfied by the media, which are discussed in one of the theories of mass communication, namely Uses & Gratification Theory, such as cognitive, affective, personal integration, social integration and tension release needs. The research subject is the audience of Brian Siawarta's Word of God content on TikTok Social Media. The research method uses descriptive qualitative methods with data collection techniques through observation and interviews with two sources who are viewers of the Word of God content of Pastor Brian Siawarta on TikTok Social media. The results showed that the motive for watching God's Word content was driven by cognitive, affective, social integration and tension release needs. Meanwhile, the need for personal integration is not the main motive to increase the credibility and confidence of the audience but adds to the credibility of Brian Siawarta as an influencer. In the study, it was found that interpersonal communication exists between communicators with audiences and fellow audiences. It was also found that there are two types of TikTok social media users, namely 1) TikTok users only as viewers of other people's content; and 2) users as well as viewers who publish content for others to see, so these two things can affect a person's personal integration motives in choosing and watching TikTok content.

Abstract

This study aims to understand persuasive communication by instagram account @philipmantofa as a pastor in conveying the Word of God. The focus of this research according to Cialdini’s six fundamental principles persuasive theory, such as reciprocation, commitment and consistency, social proof, liking, authority, and scarcity.This research also outlines communication persuasion element which are source, message, receiver, media, feedback and effect of communication persuasion. The research method uses descriptive qualitative methods with data collection techniques through observation, interviews with two sources who are instagram followers @philipmantofa, and document analysis. The results showed that the Chialdin’s six fundamental of principles persuasive applied by @philipmantofa and Digital communication team. Reciprocation, response from thousands of followers to the content that posted, showed he existence of external feedback. It was found that the lack of response from @philipmantofa and team about followers question in comment section. Commitment and consistency in post Word of God content. Social proof showed by significant amount of followers and keep increasing. Liking indicated by means of its own in making and presenting content that is in accordance with a lot of people interests. Instagram account @philimantofa have authority to persuade his followers because have believed by a lot of public. Scarcity give something unique and rare to strengthen the message with creative and innovative content.

Abstract

The style of leadership determines the success of vertical communication in the organization. Rigid leadership and protocols are familiar to leaders and government officials. This study aims to find out and understand the application of vertical communication in the style of servant leadership from the Head of Education and Culture Bureau, Tomohon. This study used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews with six informants selected by purposive sampling technique. The results showed that vertical communication performed by the Head of Office in Tomohon demonstrated a service leadership style including ten servant leadership characteristics that made the vertical communication more effective. The ten characteristics of leadership that were listening, empathy, healing, awareness, persuasion, conceptualization, foresight, stewardship, commitment to community growth and community building.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the communication strategies of Sunday school teachers in cultivating motivation to study God's Word for Sunday school children GMIM Yesus Memberkati Manado Winangun Region. To examine the communication strategy using the communication model according to Lasswell's propaganda theory by analyzing the sources, messages, media, recipients, and effects of the communication process. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the research show that the right communication strategy can increase the motivation of Sunday school children to learn God's Word. The communicator must have credibility and ability to prepare material before sharing the Word of God. The main message that the communicator wants to convey is the Word of God by maximizing verbal and non-verbal communication according to the needs of Sunday school children. The media and learning models used are varied. Through face-to-face, they include telling stories, role playing, using visual aids such as pictures and tools that illustrate the story of God's Word. Besides that, there are also digital media such as digital storytelling and motion videos and songs that support learning God's Word. The communicants are GMIM Yesus Memberkati Sunday school children ranging in age from 0 to 12 years. The effect of the communication process implemented is the growth of motivation to study God's Word as seen from the enthusiasm and enthusiasm of the Sunday school children when listening to stories of God's Word in worship activities.

Abstract

Gunung Payung dijuluki dengan sebutan Negeri di atas awan merupakan objek wisata yang terletak di Desa Poopo Kecamatan Ranoyapo Kabupaten Minahasa Selatan dengan puncak gunung berketinggian 500 MDPL. Objek wisata ini berpotensi meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat desa Poopo sehingga perlu untuk dilestarikan dan dipromisikan agar menarik wisatawan lokal maupun mancanegara. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kembali kunjungan wisatawan. Model pengembangan masyarakat berbasis aset atau yang lebih dikenal ABCD digunakan pada pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini. Hasil menunjukkan upaya yang dilakukan untuk meningkatkan daya tarik wisatawan adalah dengan melakukan koordinasi dengan perangkat desa terkait pelestarian alam gunung Payung, mensosialisasikan kembali serta mempromosikan keindahan Gunung Payung di media sosial.

Abstract

Pelaksanaan kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat melalui kegiatan Pelatihan Etika Komunikasi Media Sosial Bagi Remaja dan Pemuda di GMPU Manado dilaksanakan oleh Program Studi Misiologi dan Komunikasi Kristen sebagai tindak lanjut Kerjasama antara Fakultas Teologi IAKN Manado dengan Sinode Gereja Masehi Protestan Umum (GMPU). Melihat analisis situasi yang terjadi bahwa remaja dan pemuda di GMPU sebagai generasi muda gereja dan bangsa membutuhkan pemahaman dan pengetahuan yang tepat terkait penggunaan media sosial. Pelatihan ini ditujukan untuk menambah pengetahuan etika komunikasi media sosial dan meningkatkan keterampilan pemuda dan remaja GMPU dalam mengelolah dan memanfaatkan media sosial untuk hal-hal yang positif di tengah masyarakat dan gereja. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan dalam bentuk ceramah, diskusi dan praktek penyusunan konten positif berlandaskan nilai-nilai Kristiani. Peserta pelatihan adalah remaja dan pemuda GMPU Wilayah Manado, Minahasa Utara dan Bitung. Pokok materi yang dijelaskan kepada peserta pelatihan mencakup 1) Pemahaman dasar komunikasi dan media sosial, (2) Jejak digital, (3) Dampak media sosial, (4) Self image dan media sosial, (5) Media sosial dan kebutuhan manusia, (6) Etika dan Etiket dalam ber-Media Sosial, (7) Menyeleksi berita hoax, (8) Sebelum berbagi konten di media sosial, (9) Penggunaan media sosial untuk hal-hal positif. Evaluasi pelaksanaan kegiatan ini dilakukan melalui lembar evaluasi yang berisi kesan-kesan peserta pelatihan, rapat dan diskusi dengan pimpinan remaja dan pemuda GMPU dan melalui pemantauan yang dilakukan di media sosial selama satu bulan. Keberhasilan kegiatan diukur dari adanya peningkatan pemahaman jemaat mengenai kegunaan beserta dampak negatif dan positif media sosial, bertambahnya pemahaman jemaat mengenai etika komunikasi dalam menggunakan media sosial. Selain itu, dilihat dari peningkatan kreatifitas remaja dan pemuda dalam menghasilkan konten yang bermanfaat dan positif. Kata Kunci: pelatihan, etika, komunikasi, media sosial

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the communication strategies implemented by the Matani Tiga sub-district community in Tomohon City in practicing the values ​​of religious moderation, and to describe how to communicate Matthew 7:12 as religious moderation education in the Matani Tiga sub-district in Tomohon City. Using the Lasswell communication model theory to analyze the five elements of communication, namely source, message, media, recipient and effect carried out by the Christian community in practicing religious moderation attitudes based on the principles of Matthew 7:12. The method used is descriptive qualitative using data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study showed that the five elements of the communication process were carried out by the Christian community to achieve communication goals so that the effects given were in the form of changes in attitudes shown by the realization of harmonious and peaceful life as evidenced by the attitude of mutual respect and tolerance between the Christian and Muslim communities in the Matani Tiga sub-district in Tomohon City. Religious moderation implemented in the Matani Tiga sub-district in Tomohon City is through education. In formal education, the instillation of attitudes of religious moderation is supported in school learning through a creative, child-friendly approach that is connected to children's daily experiences. Non-formal education instilling values ​​of tolerance between religious communities is carried out through an adaptive approach at all age levels. Informal education also supports the formation of attitudes of religious moderation starting from the family environment by teaching attitudes of tolerance to children from an early age, and parents emulate these attitudes by helping communities of different religions.
