Abstract

Kata kunci: Bell’s Palsy, Erosi Kornea, Lagophthalmos, Akupunktur ABSTRACT Background: Scalp acupuncture areas are frequently used in the rehabilitation of paralysis due to stroke, multiple sclerosis, bell’s palsy, automobile accident, and Parkinson's disease. Case Report: A 54th-years-old man complaining of right-sided facial numbness and weakness progressively for 1 month. He reawakened in the morning to right-sided facial droop, inability to close right eye and numbness to the right side of his face. Discussion: In TCM theory Bell’s palsy is associated with blocks to the flow of chi of the Yang Ming and Shao Yang meridians, which cause a syndrome labeled Wind-Phlegm. Symptoms associated with this syndrome include weakness of the facial muscles and lead to the characteristic symptoms of Bell’s palsy. Treatment is accomplished by the needling of specific points in these meridians to restore the flow of chi, which ideally enhances recovery from the condition . Conclussion: This report presents the case of a 54 year-old male with chronic sequelae from Bell’s palsy who reported good results after combined chiropractic, exercise and acupuncture treatments. Keywords: Bell’s Palsy, Corneal Erosion, Lagophthalmos, Scalp Acupuncture

Abstract

The nutritional status of children significantly impacts their overall health and development, intertwined with socioeconomic factors. Adequate nutrition is essential for cognitive development and academic performance. Despite its importance, malnutrition remains prevalent among Indonesian children, with varying degrees of underweight, overweight, and obesity. This study utilized the PDCA method to screen nutritional status among students at SDN 01 Ciherang, West Java. Anthropometric measurements revealed diverse nutritional statuses, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts among students, educators, and parents to implement interventions for healthier dietary habits and long-term health outcomes.

Abstract

Healthy skin is a condition in which the skin’s moisture, oil levels, and elasticity are optimally maintained, allowing it to protect the body from external factors and maintain its physiological balance. The balance of water, oil, and skin hydration is especially important for adolescents undergoing hormonal changes. The purpose of this activity is to enhance adolescents' awareness and understanding of the importance of healthy skin through education and assessments of some of the skin contents. This community service activity was organized using the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) method, which includes health education and assessments of skin water, oil, and hydration levels among adolescent groups. The results of this activity indicate that screening and education contribute to adolescents’ understanding of the risk factors affecting skin health, the importance of appropriate skincare, and the benefits of regular assessments. The activity's discussion highlights that balanced levels of water, oil, and skin hydration play a role in preventing skin issues such as infections, acne, dermatitis, and premature aging. This education supports adolescents in adopting healthy habits to maintain their skin health. This activity plays a crucial role in raising adolescents' awareness of skin health, thereby reducing the risk of future skin disorders.

Abstract

Increased body fat, especially visceral adipose tissue, is associated with metabolic syndrome and other serious health conditions. Early detection of body composition is essential to identify individuals at risk for metabolic and musculoskeletal disorders, such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and sarcopenia. Body composition can be examined using Karada Omron. The purpose of this community service activity is to determine the body composition of productive-age adults. This activity was carried out at Santo Yoseph High School, East Jakarta, involving 69 participants. This activity was designed using the Plan-Do-Check-Action (PDCA) method. The results showed that 11 men (15.94%) and 47 women (68.12%) had above-normal total body fat levels. As for the whole body skeletal muscle mass, 17 men (24.64%) and 33 women (47.83%) had below-normal muscle mass. Education about healthy eating patterns and regular physical activity is part of an effort to increase public awareness of the importance of maintaining a balanced body composition to improve overall quality of life

Abstract

Triglyceride level examination is a crucial step in early detection of metabolic disorders. High triglyceride levels often occur without symptoms, but play a direct role in triggering dyslipidemia, insulin resistance, and increased cardiovascular risk. The implementation of the activity uses the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach. The examination was carried out directly using the Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) tool to assess triglyceride levels from blood samples. A total of 62 participants took the examination. A total of 46.8% of participants had high triglyceride levels, while 53.2% were still within normal limits. The highest triglyceride value reached 446.0 mg/dL and the median was 133.5 mg/dL. The majority of participants were female. Triglyceride examination identified participants with impaired lipid profiles. Education about physical activity needs to be part of a preventive strategy to lower triglyceride levels and reduce the risk of metabolic complications. Movement-based interventions can increase awareness and encourage healthier behavioral changes.
