Abstract

The posture of workers who take positions that are more than normal are consistently very at risk for complaints of Muscoloskeletal Disorders (MSDs). PT.XYZ is engaged in the manufacture of Mechanical, Electrical, and Modular Sub Assy components through various processes using machines. In washing activities, the material that has been processed from the machine is handled manually by workers which is carried out repeatedly every day. In this condition, the body posture is always changing from slouching, slouching, leaning, which is quite a long time which happens more than once every day. Due to non-ergonomic workplace conditions that can endanger the condition of workers in facing risks such as MSDs injury, it is necessary to design work facilities in the material washing process to improve work posture. From the results of the study it was found that the measurement of MSDs complaints using the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire was not good, where there were complaints experienced by workers above 50%, namely pain in the left shoulder (58.33%) in the right shoulder (56.25%) Pain in the left shoulder. left shoulder. waist (60.41%) on the left calf (58.33%) on the right calf (52.08%) on the left leg (58.33%) on the right leg (58.33%). Calculations using the REBA method have activities with a high risk level for washing 1 activity with a score of 8.5 (high), washing 2 activities with a score of 5.6 (medium) and drying activity with a score of 3 (low). So it is necessary to design ergonomic work facilities to reduce MSDs complaints, namely in the form of a washing table.

Abstract

The current rapid technological advancement allows companies to increase production speed through the use of machinery. However, this often leads to monotonous and physically demanding work, especially in Manual Material Handling (MMH) activities. Inappropriate MMH activities can result in Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs), involving disruptions to muscles and joints. To address this issue, the design of ergonomic work aids is necessary. The NIDA method (Need, Idea, Decision, Action) is employed to design work aids by considering needs, innovative ideas, design decisions, and implementation actions. The REBA method (Rapid Entire Body Assessment) to assess the working position or posture of an operator’s neck, back, arms, wrists, and legs . Research results indicate that the use of specialized aids in activities such as measurement can reduce MSDs complaints, where the score on employee body posture analysis is obtained on averange 3 and the NBM questionnaire date shows an averange score of 30, whwere this score included in the low risk category. And before the work facility design was carried out, the score was for REBA 6 and with NBM questionnaire data 41, the category indicates medium risk. Previous research has also utilized the NIDA method in designing work aids with positive outcomes. In conclusion, the use of the NIDA method in designing ergonomic work aids can alleviate MSDs complaints and enhance productivity at PT Citra Tubindo TBK and similar industries.

Abstract

This study was conducted on employees at UKM Moro Asih, where the process of making meatballs is still carried out without a work table, which can lead to Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) in employees. Through the distribution of the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire, it was found that 2 out of 3 workers had a "Very High" level of musculoskeletal risk, indicating the need for comprehensive and immediate action. To make improvements, the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method was used by designing a work table that fits the employees' body posture. The research results show that the REBA score before using the work table and chair was 7 (moderate risk), while with the proposed work table and chair, the score decreased to 3 (low risk). This significant change indicates that the addition of these facilities effectively reduces the risk of musculoskeletal disorders in employees in the meatball production section.

Abstract

In the modern industrial era, ergonomic challenges have become increasingly critical, particularly in manual labor sectors that are highly prone to Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). This study aims to design ergonomic work facilities in the Store Department of PT NOK Freudenberg Sealing Technologies, specifically for the pallet transfer process, which is still performed manually. The research methodology integrates the Nordic Body Map (NBM) for identifying MSD complaints, the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) for evaluating working postures, and the Ergonomic Function Deployment (EFD) for developing ergonomic solutions. The study involved three workers, selected using a saturated sampling technique due to the small population. NBM questionnaire results indicated high levels of physical discomfort, especially in the shoulders, back, and knees. REBA assessments revealed an average risk score of 7, categorized as high, indicating the urgent need for intervention. The ergonomic table was designed based on workers’ anthropometric data and the ENASE ergonomic aspects (Effective, Comfortable, Safe, Healthy, Efficient). The proposed design successfully reduced the REBA score 7, demonstrating a significant improvement in work safety and comfort. This study concludes that applying ergonomic design based on anthropometric data and the EFD method effectively reduces the risk of injury caused by poor working posture, while enhancing efficiency and worker well-being in industrial environments
