Abstract

Utilization of the abundant natural potential such as sunlight, especially in Surabaya, its a challenge in itself. This potential can be used for natural lighting in buildings. One of these efforts is how to make the potential of sunlight optimally utilized by controlling space openings that can adapt to the movement of the sun during a day. This research be using qualitative and quantitative methods to measure the adaptation of the movement of the sun barrier device which is placed in front of the unit's open space using a sun visor which is moved by a linear actuator controlled by an Arduino Microcontroller, while the LDR sensor is used to detect the direction of sunlight. From the research results, it was found that the imaging panel device was able to open and close according to the movement of sunlight with strong natural lighting between 10:00 to 15:00.

Abstract

The workbenches that are often found today were originally designed with universal needs in mind. In general, workbench designs that are often encountered in design studios do not consider the work area and storage area. One of the problems that arise from this design is the limited access to storage of design work and design work using manuals and computers. This study discusses the design of a work desk that carries a multifunctional concept. The design of the workspace that carries this multifunctional concept is important to do in order to provide solutions to the problems that have been encountered. This study uses the design thinking method in producing design solutions. Observations were made on the users of the workbench first and then informal interviews related to the level of work comfort were carried out. To support the production process, material selection and product finishing are also carried out in order to obtain products that have good quality. Next, analysis of user needs is carried out to generate design ideas. The result of this study is the design of a multifunctional workbench by considering the complexity of work requirements in order to support the quality of the user's work. This workbench design can be used as a reference for product development, especially on the design of a workbench that can be used in a design studio.

Abstract

This study examines the transformation of Kyai leadership within the pesantren tradition amid the rising influence of digital media, using the controversy surrounding Trans7’s Xpose Uncensored episode on Pesantren Lirboyo as a critical case. this research analyzes how Kyai leadership is constructed, contested, and recontextualized in the era of viral media. Findings reveal four key transformations. First, despite media pressure, Kyai authority in Lirboyo remains anchored in charismatic moral–spiritual leadership while adapting to media logic through ethical and calm communicative strategies, consistent with Hjarvard’s (2008) theory of the mediatization of religion. Overall, this study demonstrates that the leadership of Kyai in the digital era is simultaneously charismatic, adaptive, and dialogical, reflecting a harmonious integration of pesantren tradition with contemporary media culture. The Lirboyo case serves as evidence that religious authority in Indonesia is undergoing significant transformation, not through erosion, but through strategic negotiation within the logic of viral digital communication.

Abstract

Qur’anic studies in Southeast Asia, particularly in Indonesia and Malaysia, have developed within plural and dynamic socio-cultural contexts, rendering purely textual-normative approaches insufficient to explain the relationship between sacred texts and religious practices in society. This study employs a qualitative library research approach by analyzing primary sources in the form of Qur’anic texts and secondary sources consisting of classical and contemporary literature in the fields of hermeneutics, anthropology of religion, and historical Qur’anic studies. The findings indicate that interreligious and polysemic hermeneutics enable contextual and inclusive readings of the Qur’an, especially in addressing contemporary issues such as gender equality, social justice, and interfaith relations. This approach is reflected in the reinterpretation of normative verses, such as the concept of qawwāmūn (Qur’an 4:34), which is analyzed through the framework of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah to emphasize substantive justice. Meanwhile, the anthropology of religion plays a crucial role in revealing the disparity between the Qur’an’s normative ideals and the lived religious practices of Muslim communities, without reducing the essence of the text. Instead, it encourages critical reflection and the revitalization of Qur’anic ethical values. The integration of these three disciplines forms an intercultural methodology that not only enriches academic discourse but also carries practical implications for strengthening religious moderation, fostering interfaith dialogue, and promoting inclusive social development in multicultural regions. This study concludes that intercultural methodology constitutes an epistemological necessity in regional Qur’anic studies, as it effectively bridges the universality of revelation with the particularity of local contexts, thereby reaffirming the relevance of the Qur’an as a source of ethical and humanitarian values in modern society.
