Abstract

Breast milk is the best food for the baby's needs from the beginning of life. However, a survey in Indonesia reported that 38% of mothers stopped breastfeeding due to a lack of milk production caused by various factors such as maternal psychology and nutrition. Several types of plants have traditionally been used by nursing mothers to increase breast milk production, one of which is Sauropus androgynus or katuk leaves which contain important nutrients such as protein, vitamin C, vitamin D, calcium, and folic acid without reducing the quality of breast milk. Katuk leaf extract can increase the mother's milk production up to 50.47%. The general objective of this study was to determine the relationship between giving katuk leaves to breast milk production and increasing infant weight at the WiIayah Midwife Independent Practice, Madiun Regency. This research uses Quasi Experiment method with pre-test and post-test design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling and obtained a sample of 60 nursing mothers who will be given a volume measurement instrument, a control card for measuring breast milk volume filled in by postpartum mothers who will monitor their milk production every day. The results showed a decoction of katuk leaves and extracts. Katuk leaf is effective in meeting the adequacy of breast milk and is proven to increase baby's weight. To test the baby's weight gain using a tool using an observation sheet of baby's weight gain before and after the research was conducted. The results of hypothesis testing using the paired t-test showed that there was a relationship between giving katuk leaf extract to increasing breast milk production.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is the third most common cause of death after cancer and cardiovascular disease in people aged 30-70 years (WHO 2016). The aim of the study was to compare the effect of red betel leaf decoction and aloe vera decoction on reducing blood sugar levels in people with diabetes mellitus at the Setia Janji Health Center. This research is a quantitative research. In this study the researchers used the Pre-Experiment research design with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design with a control approach. The research was carried out in February 2023 until it was completed at the Setia Janji Health Center. With a Sample of 40 People. Bivariate analysis using Bivariate Analysis was used to see how far the influence of each independent variable on the dependent variable used the Shapiro-Wilk data normality test and the Paired T-test paired samples. The study obtained that the average difference in blood sugar levels of DM patients before and after being given red betel leaf decoction was 82.90 mg/dL with a standard deviation of 28.069 mg/dL. The average difference in blood sugar levels of DM patients before and after being given red betel leaf decoction was 45.30 mg/dL with a standard deviation of 22.614 mg/dL. The results of the Mann Whitney statistical test obtained p = 0.000, where the p value ≤ 0.05, statistically it means that there is a difference in the average decrease in blood sugar levels given red betel leaf decoction (Piper crocatum) and aloe vera decoction. in people with diabetes mellitus at the Setia Janji Health Center. There is support from midwives in providing counseling about the benefits of decoction of red betel leaves and aloe vera as an alternative to herbal medicine in helping lower blood sugar levels in people with diabetes mellitus. Keywords :  Aloe Vera, Decrease in KGD, DM, Red Betel Leaf

Abstract

The nutritional status of children is still low due to a lack of exclusive breastfeeding during infancy. Insufficient breast milk causes mothers to give complementary foods after giving birth. The research objective was to determine the effect of rolling massage and breast care during the third trimester of pregnancy on milk production. The research method used a quasy experiment with a post test only design with control group approach carried out in the working area of the Balai Berkuak Health Center. The sampling method used is random sampling. Samples that met the inclusion criteria were 30 mothers. The sample was divided into 15 respondents in the intervention group and 15 respondents in the control group. Data analysis used univariate, bivariate and multivariate logistic regression. The results of the analysis of the smooth expulsion of breast milk by rolling massage and breast care during the third trimester of pregnancy showed that there was a significant relationship p = 0.003 (p <0.05). Nutrition has a partial effect on breastfeeding expenditure p=0.008 (p<0.05). Rolling massage and breast care during the third trimester of pregnancy on breastfeeding with mothers who were not intervened. The study showed that external psychological factors had a partial effect on breastfeeding, p = 0.025 (p <0.05). Rolling massage and breast care had a significant effect on p=0.002 (p<0.05), the most dominant had a 52 times chance of influencing milk production.
