Abstract

Background: The concept of classification of living things, especially the determination key materials, is one of the concepts in learning biology is quite difficult to understand by students. The concept of learning in the classroom tend to use traditional approaches in the form of lectures and experiments. Questioning skills very important to have a teacher, because it can increase student participation in the learning activity, generate interest and curiosity, develop ways of thinking and active learning, and focus on students. Methods: This study was conducted using the Class Action Research (PTK) is carried out in collaboration with the seventh grade biology teacher and vice principal at Junior High School Curriculum affairs 6 Ambon. PTK is held in the classroom while the class VII1 VII2 used as a test model of learning. Results: The results showed that apply the concepts and principles in biology through scientific work asked to improve the performance of teachers. Application of scientific work asks improve student learning outcomes. Application of scientific work asks improve student motivation. Application of scientific work asked to create a climate conducive learning and Application of scientific work asks improve students' science process skills. Conclusions: The implementation of learning in the classroom that teachers must practice more to phrase questions to reveal the facts, prepare questions about the procedure, prepare questions about the reasons for the use of certain tools or materials and prepare questions for designing a scientific activity.

Abstract

Background: Gandaria fruit on the island of Ambon has benefits if the sale value can be used as raw material for the manufacture of Nata products. The making of Nata Gandaria fruit with the help of Acetobacter xylinum microorganisms, the role of microbes to break down glucose into cellulose or fiber that is important for the human body. Methods: To know the length of fermentation to know the effect of fiber content of Gandaria nata, then tested on fiber content of nata Gandaria fruit that has been fermented for 10 days and 12 days. Result: Based on the test results using gravimetry fiber content method known nata fermentation time can increase fiber content. The highest increasing fiber content at nata occurred on day 12 with an average fiber content of 0.45% and the lowest occurred on fermentation day 10 with an average fiber content of 0.35%. Conclusion: The duration of fermentation has an effect on the fiber content of gandaria fruit (Bouea macrophylla griff). The duration of fermentation that produces gandaria fruit nata (Bouea macrophylla griff) with the highest fiber content is on the 12th day while the fermentation time that produces the gandaria fruit (Bouea macrophylla griff) with the least fiber content is the 10th day

Abstract

Background: Indonesia as one of agrarian countries rich in natural resources and has a variety of plants that have great potential to be utilized as a natural antioxidant, one of which is a banana. In the utilization of bananas is limited to the meat alone while the skin is only used as waste, whereas banana peels have a high value of benefits, it is evident that the banana skin contains high oxygen activity compared to meat. Method: The method used is Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with factorial pattern consisting of 5 treatments and 3 repetitions. The results were analyzed statistically with Anova test showed sig value. 0.000 <0.05 followed by Tukey test showing very real difference in each treatment. Results: The results showed that group P (3) was the best treatment group that decreased free fatty acid content in cooking oil with the addition of natural antioxidant of banana peel (Musa sapientum). Conclusion: The addition of natural antioxidant of banana skin effect in decreasing free fatty acids fatty acid content with average free fatty acid content with 1% b / b, 2% w / b and 3% b / b banana peel powder of 0 , 2928%, 0.2733% and 0.2370%.

Abstract

Background: The village of Latuhalat and Kayu Putih village is a place that is on the beach and in the mountains. Potential natural resources are quite a lot of plants melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L). This study aims to determine the total compound of flavonoid content of leaf melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L) based on place difference. Method: The method used in this study using the method of Chang et al. The solvent used for diluting the melinjo extract was methanol solvent, then measured using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer. Result: Result of analysis of flavonoid compound content, Latuhalat Village has average total flavonoid content of13.080% and average total flavonoid content in Kayu Putih Village equal to 17.028%. Kayu Putih Village has more flavonoid compound than Latuhalat Village. Conclusion: Total levels of melinjo leaf flavonoids (Gnetum gnemon L) in Kayu Putih Village were more than total flavonoids of leaf melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L) in Latuhalat Village.

Abstract

Background: Gandaria plants (Bouea macrophylla Griff) are one of the annual Maluku fruits which need to be cultivated because they are beneficial both economically and ecologically. This study aims to determine the effect of sodium benzoate concentration and storage time on Gandaria fruit juice (Bouea macrophylla Griff). Method: The type of research used in this study was an experimental type laboratory with experiments conducted in a closed room. This study uses ripe gandaria fruit in orange. This study used a completely randomized design method with 2 factors, namely, the concentration of sodium benzoate 200 ppm, 250 ppm, 300 ppm and storage time of 5 days, 10 days and 15 days. The parameters measured were vitamin C levels, total solid soluble and total acid levels. Results: The study showed that the concentration of sodium benzoate and storage time had an effect on vitamin C, total acid and total soluble solid. Whereas the interaction between the concentration of sodium benzoate and the length of storage gave a significant effect on total acid. Conclusion: The concentration of sodium benzoate and storage time have an effect on vitamin C, total acid and total soluble solid and the interaction between sodium benzoate concentration and storage time has a significant effect on total acid.

Abstract

The STS (science technology and society) learning model teaches students to pay attention to problems that then emerge as other impacts of the use of new technologies in social life. Whereas the Problem Solving learning model teaches students to be trained in problem-solving using creative ways. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the application of STS based problem-solving learning models on the learning outcomes, science process skills, scientific attitude of senior high school 6 Ambon. The research was conducted from January to February 2020. The research design was a quasi-experimental study using a non-equivalent group design. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics using the ANCOVA and ANOVA tests. Descriptive statistics are used to explain the range of research data on cognitive learning outcomes, science process skills, and scientific attitudes in the table. ANCOVA test is used to analyze the effect of learning models on cognitive learning outcomes. ANOVA test is used to analyze the effect of learning models on scientific process skills and scientific attitudes. The results showed that the distribution of cognitive learning outcomes, science process skills, and scientific attitudes of students in the experimental class taught using STS based problem solving learning models were better than students taught using conventional learning models (STAD). ANCOVA statistical test shows that the significant value is 0,000 <0.05. This shows that the learning model influences students' cognitive learning outcomes. ANOVA statistical test showed that the significant value was 0,000 <0.05. This shows that the learning model influences the science process skills and scientific attitude. The stages in the STS based problem solving learning models can accommodate cognitive learning outcomes, process skills, and scientific attitudes of senior high school 6 Ambon on Environmental Friendly Technology material.

Abstract

The low motivation and cognitive learning outcomes of students can be caused by errors in the selection and use of learning models in the class. This study aims to determine the effect of discovery video learning and problem-based learning model (pbl) on motivation and learning outcomes of class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Ambon. The research method used was a quasi-experimental research design using a pretest posttest nonequivalent control group design. The sample used was grade X MIPA-6 and X MIPA-7 students. The instrument used was a questionnaire containing 30 items to measure motivation and 60 multiple choice questions to measure cognitive learning outcomes. Motivational data and student learning outcomes were analyzed with the ANCOVA test. The results showed that there was no effect of the discovery-assisted learning model and the pbl learning model on student motivation (p > 0,05). But there is an influence of learning models of learning with the help of the discovery and pbl learning models on cognitive learning outcomes (p < 0,05). The conclusion of this study, the discovery learning model and pbl learning model do not affect motivation but affect cognitive learning outcomes
