This research aimed to analyze the role of rural agriculture training centre (P4S) on empowering farmers and find out the factors related to the role. This research was conducted in four P4S in Central Lampung Regency, those are Mitra Tani Mandiri, P4S Sama Maju, P4S Ras Andani, and P4S Budidaya. Respondents of this research were 74 people that consist of 23 facilitators and 51 farmers. The data were collected in February - March 2018. The role of P4S was analyzed descriptively and hypothesis was analyzed using Rank Spearman correlation. The results of this research showed that the role of P4S on empowering farmers in Centre Lampung Regency is included in moderate classification. The internal factors such as work motivation, cosmopolitan character, and the external factor that is reward system don’t have significant relation to the role of P4S on empowering farmers. Availability of facilities-infrastructure and the number of assisted farmers have significant relationship to the role of P4S on empowering farmers in Central Lampung Regency. This study analyses the roles of AEWs, the level of implementation of the five-farming-system of paddy, the level of paddy productivity, the relationship between the roles of AEWs and the level of the implementation five, and the relationship between the implementation and paddy productivity. The research was conducted in the West Metro District of Metro City. The samples are 72 farmers of randomly selected respondents. Methods of data analysis using quantitative descriptive analysis, table analysis, and Rank Spearman correlation. The results indicated that AEWs have done their roles well, especially as educators who teach and educate farmers about the implementation of the five-farming-system of paddy. The five-farming-system of paddy has been applied well. Most farmers realize the importance of implementing the five-farming-system of paddy in accordance with the advice of AEWs to improve productivity. The average productivity of paddy is 6.46 ton/ha or in the medium class. The higher the role of AEWs, the higher the level of application of the five-farming-system of paddy. The higher the implementation of the five-farming-system of paddy, the higher the level of paddy productivity.Key words: AEWs, five-farming-system, productivity, role

The purposes of this study are to determine the communication behavior of pepper farmers, characteristics of pepper farmers and analyze the correlation between farmers’ characteristics and communication behavior in fulfilling pepper farming information. This research was conducted in Sukadana Baru Village, Marga Tiga District, East Lampung regency in August 2018. This location was chosen purposively with consideration that Sukadana Baru Village is a village with the largest area and pepper production in East Lampung. The number of samples in this study were 43 pepper farmers. This study used a survey method, and data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and rank Spearman test. The results showed that all respondent farmers were at the productive age level with an average age of 42 years, average level of basic education of 9 years, the average cultivated area of 2.00 hectares, pepper farming experience 22 years, and the average monthly income of Rp2,591,382.00. Communication behavior of farmers in fulfilling pepper farming information fell into the medium category. There was a significant correlation between farmer's age, land size, and income with communication behavior in fulfilling pepper farming information.Key words: communication behavior,farmer characteristics, pepper

This research aimed to analyze the performance level of food crops agriculturalextension workerand the factors that related to the performance level of food crops agricultural extension worker. This research was conducted in Gadingrejo Subdistrict Pringsewu District. Respondents of this research were 109 peoples that consist of 10 food crops agriculturalextension worker which is choosen by purposive sampling, and 99 farmers under construction of food crops agriculturalextensionworker which is choosen bysimple random sampling. The performance level of agricultural extension worker in this research will be analyzed descriptively. Hypothesis was analyzed by rank spearman correlation. The result of this research showed that the performance level of agricultural extension worker in BP3K Gadingrejo Subdistrict included in low classification. The internal factors like the motivation level, the income level, and the education level did not have real relationto the performance level of agriculturalextension worker in BP3K Gadingrejo Subdistrict. The external factors like the farmers numbers under construction and the distance between their houses did not have significant relation, while other external factor was a reward system that have significant relation to the performance level of agricultural extension worker in BP3K Gadingrejo Subdistrict.Key words: agricultural extention, internal-eksternal factors, performance

The aim of this research are to analyze the level of food security, the factors that affect the level of food security, and efforts to increase the level of food security of fisherman household. The location of this research is chosen purposively in Sukajaya Lempasing Village, Teluk Pandan Subdistrict, Pesawaran Regency in which respondents are 51 fisherman households. The data of this research was primary data and secondary data, collected in February – May 2018 and analyzed by cross-classification between the share of food expenditure and energy adequacy level, ordinal logistic regression, and descriptive qualitative analysis. The results of the research showed that the majority of respondent (68.63%) were classified as less food, and the rest were classified as food secure (13.73%), vulnerable to food (5.88%), and food insecure (11.76%). The affecting factors on the level of food security were formal education level of housewives and household food expenditure. The efforts to increase the level of food security by Government were through monitoring food availability and food reserves, developing food distribution and stabilization of food prices, Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH), and Raskin. Whereas, the efforts by fisherman household themselves were food loan (92.16%) and changing dietary habit (7.84%).Key words: cross-classification, fisherman household, food security

This study aims to analyze the level of food crop agriculture adoption-inovation and the relationship between communication networks and the level of the adoption-inovation. The location of this study was chosen puposively in Rejo Binangun village, Raman Utara subdistrict, East Lampung regency. Respondents of this research are 34 farmers. Data were collected in March-May 2016. The research used a survey method with qualitative and quantitative analysis and used nonparametric statistics test Rank Spearman correlation to test the hypothesis. The results of this research showed that the level of foodcrop agriculture adoption-inovation involving rice and cassava in Rejo Binangun village, Raman Utara subdistrict, East Lampung regency is in medium classification and the level of food crop agriculture adoption-inovation has a significant correlation to the level of diversity of communication networks in Rejo Binangun village, Raman Utara subdistrict, East Lampung regency. This research aims to find out the level of dynamics of the farmer group, the success rate of the Rice Farm Insurance (AUTP) program, factors related to the success of the Rice Farm Insurance (AUTP) program, and the relationship between the dynamics of the farmer group and the success of the Rice Farm Insurance (AUTP) program in Pekon Tulung Agung, Gadingrejo Subdistrict, Pringsewu Regency. This research was conducted in Pekon Tulung Agung, Gadingrejo Subdistrict, Pringsewu Regency. Data collection on this study was conducted in June 2021. Respondents to this study were 76 farmers who belonged to the farmer group. The study used surveying and data testing methods using non-parametric statistics of Spearman Rank correlation tests. The results showed that the level of dynamics of the farmer group was in a fairly dynamic category, the success rate of the Rice Farm Insurance (AUTP) program was in the less successful category, the factor associated with the success of the Rice Farm Insurance (AUTP) program was the age of farmers, and there was a real relationship between the dynamics of the farmer's group and the success of the Rice Farm Insurance (AUTP) program.
