Abstract

The number of beneficial microbial populations (lactic acid bacteria/LAB) and pathogens (coliform) in the digestive tract of ducks is one indicator of duck health status. Healthy ducks have a beneficial microbial population more than pathogenic bacteria. The addition of herbal ingredients such as mangosteen peel and turmeric flour is thought to improve the health of ducks by increasing the LAB population. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the combination of mangosteen peel flour and turmeric flour on the total lactic acid bacteria and coliform of small intestine and caecum of Cihateup duck. The study was conducted experimentally using 60 male Cihateup ducks grouped into 5 feed treatments which contains a combination of mangosteen peel and turmeric flour at different levels as follows: 0.5% (R1); 1.0% (R2); 1.5% (R3); 2.0% (R4); and 2.5% (R5), respectively. The variables studied were total lactic acid and coliform bacteria in the small intestine and caecum of Cihateup ducks. The results showed that the treatments of feed significantly (P<0.05) affected the total lactic acid bacteria (except caecum) and coliform bacteria. The population of lactic acid bacteria tended to increase along with the increasing dose of combination treatment of mangosteen peel and turmeric flour. In contrast, the total population of coliform bacteria in the small intestine and caecum of ducks showed a tendency to decrease with increasing treatment doses. The use of a combination of mangosteen peel and turmeric flour at higher levels (2.0 – 2.5%) can increase the total LAB and decrease coliform bacteria in the small intestine and cecum of Cihateup duck.

Abstract

The objective of the study was to investigate the potential of concentrated fermented milk (yoghurt and kefir) from cow milk and goat milk as a natural antibacterial ingredient. Completely randomized factorial design 2x2 was used in this research. The first factor was the type of fermentation (yoghurt and kefir) and the second factor was type of milk (cow milk and goat milk). The parameters measured were composition, inhibitory test, chemical and physical test. The results showed that the type of milk had significantly affected (P<0.05) on amount of whey and antibacterial activity. Type of fermentation and milk type have a significant effect (P<0.05) on concentrate. Concentrated fermented goat milk has the higher resistance to S. aureus bacteria than concentrated fermented cow milk on the inhibitory test. The type of fermentation and milk type has no significant effect on the composition (moisture content and total solids) and chemical characteristics (pH, lactic acid and free fatty acids) of the concentrate and whey. The conclusion of this research is goat milk yoghurt concentrate was potential to used as a natural antibacterial material.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian air minum yang ditambahkan kombinasi ekstrak daun sambiloto dan daun sirsak yang mampu menghasilkan bobot potong dan persentase karkas paling baik pada ayam broiler. Percobaan menggunakan metode eksperimen terhadap 100 ayam broiler umur satu hari dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Kombinasi ekstrak daun sambiloto dan daun sirsak yang ditambahkan ke dalam air minum dengan empat perlakuan sebagai berikut: P0 (0% kombinasi ekstrak/L air minum), P1 (1% kombinasi ekstrak/L air minum), P2 (5% kombinasi ekstrak/L air minum), P3 (10% kombinasi ekstrak/L air minum), diulang sebanyak lima kali ulangan dan masing – masing ulangan lima ekor. Peubah yang diamati meliputi bobot potong dan persentase karkas. Analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa penambahan ekstrak daun sambiloto dan daun sirsak tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap bobot potong dan persentase karkas. Penambahan ekstrak daun sambiloto dan sirsak dimungkinkan dapat dimanfaatkan untuk memperbaiki kualitas daging ayam broiler. Kata kunci: ekstrak daun sambiloto, ekstrak daun sirsak, bobot potong, persentase karkas, ayam broiler

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian isotonik alami terhadap bobot relatif bursa fabricius, limfa dan hati Itik Cihateup dalam pemeliharaan kering. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental in vivo dan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan perlakuan yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan pada penelitian ini adalah penambahan ekstrak selediri sebanyak 25mg, 50mg dan 75mg juga penambahan sari jeruk nipis sebanyak 2%, 3%, dan 4%. Hasil penelitian berdasarkan ANAVA menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap bobot bursa fabricius, limfa dan hati Itik Cihateup

Abstract

Indonesia is the third largest cocoa producer and exporter in the world after Ghana and Ivory Coast. Cocoa production in Indonesia in 2020 is 720,660 tons. Cocoa pods have good nutritional potential for ruminants which include 17.2% dry matter; organic matter 81.2%; crude protein 9.07%; neutral detergent fiber (NDF) 73.9%; acid detergent fiber (ADF) 58.98%; cellulose 38.65%; and lignin 20.15%. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal time for making feed from cocoa pods using ammonia and fermentation (amofer) processes. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments for the ammonia fermentation process (Amofer) with 5 replications. The research treatments were: P0 = cocoa pods without urea and without Aspergillus Niger, P1 = cocoa pods + urea 6% + Aspergillus Niger 0.31% + Mineral mix 2% for 7 days, P2 = Cocoa pods + urea 6% + Aspergillus Niger 0.31% + Mineral mix 2% for 14 days, P3 = cocoa pod + urea 6% + Aspergillus Niger 0.31% + Mineral mix 2% for 21 days P4 = cocoa pod + urea 6% + Aspergillus Niger 0.31% + Mineral mix 2% for 28 days. The results showed that the moisture content of the ammonium pod peel on day 0 was significantly different (P<0.05) with the moisture content on the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th days. The variables measured were nutritional content which included water content, ash content, crude protein (PK) and total lignin. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance and continued with the orthogonal polynomial test. The ash content on the 14th, 21st and 28th days of making cocoa pods using the ammonia fermentation (amofer) method using urea and Aspergillus Niger (P<0.05) was significantly different from the control. The results of crude protein analysis on the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th days of making cocoa pods using the ammonia fermentation (amofer) method using urea and Aspergillus Niger (P<0.05) were significantly different from the control. The results of the analysis of total lignin on the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th days of making cocoa pods using the ammonia fermentation (amofer) method using urea and Aspergillus Niger (P<0.05) were significantly different from the control. The conclusion of the treatment of cocoa pod peel with amofer is that the addition of urea 6% + Aspergillus Niger 0.31% + Mineral mix 2% with a difference in treatment time of up to 28 days can increase crude protein and water content and reduce ash content and total lignin. Abstract

Tujuan pengabdian untuk mengatasi permasalahan manajemen pemeliharaan dan pengelolaan usaha ayam buras yang dapat menjadi tambahan pendapatan bagi masyarakat Desa Guranteng. Kegiatan pengabdian menggunakan metode ceramah mengenai permasalahan manajemen pemeliharaan, pemanfaatan limbah rumah tangga bagi pakan ayam, dan analisis usaha ayam buras. Kegiatan tanya jawab dilakukan disela-sela materi ceramah guna meningkatkan pemahaman peternak dan pemecahan masalah untuk masing-masing peternak. Pendampingan lapangan dilakukan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan peternak dalam aplikasi pemeliharaan dan pengembangan ayam buras menjadi skala usaha rumah tangga. Evaluasi dilakukan untuk mengetahui sejauhmana peternak dapat menerapkan manajemen pemeliharaan melalui intensifikasi. Tingkat antusias kelompok ternak terhadap program intensifikasi ayam buras sangat baik karena selama ini peternak merasa bahwa manajemen pemeliharaan secara ekstensifikasi belum mampu menunjang pemeliharaan ayam buras kearah usaha. Perlu dilakukan kegiatan pendampingan selanjutnya mengenai pengolahan dan pemasaran hasil ternak yang nantinya dapat memberikan nilai tambah bagi usaha yang dijalankan oleh para kelompok ternak

Abstract

Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Entang Saluyu merupakan KWT yang bergerak dibidang Peternakan dan Pertanian. Komoditas yang dibudidaya adalah ayam buras dan komoditas sayuran rumah tangga dengan metode backyard farming. Kelompok ini baru berdiri selama 1 tahun dan masih perlu pendampingan untuk memperkuat kelompok serta meningkatkan pendapatan kelompok. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah pendampingan kelompok dalam rangka mengembangkan potensi ternak lokal Ayam Buras di Kabupaten Tasikmalaya secara intensif melalui pendekatan budidaya ayam kampung pedaging. Kegiatan pengabdian ini meliputi: persiapan, pelaksanaan alih teknologi, penyuluhan tentang tatalaksana budidaya ayam kampung pedaging, tahap perencanaan budidaya ayam kampung pedaging, perhitungan biaya produksi, diskusi dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan ini adalah terdapat penambahan pengetahuan anggota KWT mengenai budidaya ayam kampung yang mampu meningkatkan pendapatan serta pemeliharaan yang lebih fokus dan terarah pada satu komoditas.

Abstract

Pengabdian pada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk intensifikasi ternak Ayam Buras di Kabupaten Tasikmalaya menggunakan model Backyard Farming dalam rangka mengembangkan ayam buras yang dilaksanakan melalui program KKN-PPM Tematik Unper Tasikmalaya periode 2019. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dengan pendekatan tatalaksana pemeliharaan yang meliputi tatalaksana pemberian pakan, tatalaksana kesehatan, dan tatalaksana perkandangan. Masyarakat sasaran kegiatan ini adalah ibu-ibu rumah tangga di Desa Guranteng Kec. Pagerageung dengan kepemilikan ayam buras (ayam kampung/ ayam lokal) namun sistem pemeliharaannya masih ekstensif. Kegiatan pengabdian ini meliputi : persiapan, pelaksanaan alih teknologi, Pelatihan penyuluhan tatalaksana pemeliharaan, pelatihan penyusunan ransum untuk ayam buras sesuai dengan kebutuhan nutrien dan status produksi serta pembuatan demonstrasi plot berupa kandang Backyard Chicken Coop. Metode pengabdian masyarakat yang digunakan adalah pendidikan masyarakat, difusi ipteks dan pelatihan. Target luaran kegiatan ini adalah peningkatan keberdayaan masyarakat, peningkatan pengetahuan, serta terbentuknya kelembagaan masyarakat. Hasil pengabdian masyarakat skema KKN-PPM ini antara lain meningkatnya pengetahuan masyarakat, berdirinya kandang ayam kampung Backyard Farming serta terbentuknya Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) yang legal dan terdaftar pada sistem informasi Balai Penyuluh Pertanian Kecamatan Pagerageung.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak daun katuk (Sauropus androgynous) dalam ransum terhadap tebal kerabang dan haugh unit (HU). Enam puluh ekor puyuh petelur fase produksi dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok perlakuan : 1) T0 : ransum tanpa perlakuan, 2) T1 : ransum dengan perlakuan ekstrak daun katuk 3.5g/kg ransum, 3) T2 : ransum dengan perlakuan probiotik (Bacillus sp. dan Saccharomycess sp.), 4) T3 : ransum dengan perlakuan ekstrak daun katuk 3.5g/kg ransum + probiotik (Bacillus sp. dan Saccharomycess sp.). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap tebal kerabang (P>0.05) dan haugh unit (HU) (P>0.05). Telur hasil penelitian dari semua perlakuan menunjukkan kondisi telur yang sesuai dengan standar kualitas tebal kerabang dan haugh unit (HU). ¬Kata Kunci : Ekstrak daun katuk, haugh unit, probiotik, puyuh, tebal kerabang Abstract The study aims to determine the effect of giving sauropus androgynous leaf extract in the ration on egg quality. Sixty quails laying in the production phase were divided into 4 treatment groups: 1) T0: rations without treatment, 2) T1 : rations with katuk leaf extract treatment 3.5g / kg ration, 3) T2 : rations with probiotic treatment (Bacillus sp. And Saccharomycess sp.), 4) T3 : ration with katuk leaf extract treatment 3.5g / kg ration + probiotics (Bacillus sp. and Saccharomycess sp.). The results showed that the treatment had no significant effect on egg shell thickness (P>0.05) and haugh unit (HU) (P>0.05). Eggs from all treatments showed the condition of eggs in accordance with the quality standards of the thickness of the shells and haugh units (HU). Abstract

Katuk leaves are known as vegetables that are rich in nutrients in several regions in Indonesia. In addition, it has the potential as an herbal medicine that needs to be developed based on its chemical compound content. The groups of chemical compounds contained in plants can be analyzed using a phytochemical screening test. Phytochemical screening was carried out on katuk leaf extract samples obtained through the maceration method using methanol solvent which was then concentrated using a rotary evaporator. Phytochemical screening test consisted of phenolic, tannin, flavonoid, saponin, triterpenoid, steroid, and alkaloid screening. Furthermore, the test results will be used as a basis for researchers in developing the potential of katuk leaves as herbs to reduce fat content in poultry product. The class of compounds, especially flavonoids, saponins, and tannins has a role in reducing fat accumulation. The test results showed that the positive katuk leaf extract contained moderate amounts of phenolic compounds, tannin, flavonoids, saponins, triterpenoids, and alkaloids. That is, katuk leaves have the potential as an herb that can reduce fat levels in poultry products.
