Abstract

The government has made various efforts to reduce the spread of Covid 19, but there are still many people who do not comply with health protocols. Low public knowledge and misinformation are the causes, and there is even a perception in the community that Covid 19 does not exist and is only an issue to scare the public. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase public knowledge by providing an explanation of Covid 19 and efforts that can be made to reduce its spread. It is hoped that increased knowledge can increase understanding so that people are willing and obedient to do 3M and want to be vaccinated. The method of community service activities is by distributing questionnaires, after being filled in completely, collected before and after counselling activities on Covid 19 using PPT and LCD media. Of the 67 respondents, knowledge about Covid 19 before counselling was 23.9% less, 22.4% sufficient, and only 53.7% good. After counselling knowledge became 14.9% less, 19.4% sufficient, and 65.7% good. Counselling or information can increase public knowledge about Covid 19. It is recommended to academics, health practitioners, and stakeholders to further improve the provision of information about Covid 19 to the public. The use of informative and educational videos can be one solution.

Studies show that short nap for 10 to 15 minutes increase mental efficiency and productivity, which is a small investment in time for big results in corporate morale and production. The purpose of this community service activity is to identify the benefits of napping for employees of the Department of Midwifery at the Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health in Padang. If they feel the benefits, of course they can apply it on a daily basis during office breaks in addition to prayer and lunch. This Community Service Activity is carried out on September 19 to November 1, 2019. Community Service Activity is carried out every day if employees have time for a nap. Most of the employees consisting of lecturers and education staff feel that taking a naps provides benefits, eliminates fatigue, and makes the body work more enthusiastic because it feels fresher. Abstract

Background: The COVID-19 outbreak has changed how people live worldwide, making hand hygiene a must, whether it involves hand sanitizer (HS). The majority of HS are made of alcohol. Several side effects of alcohol are dryness and allergies. Alternative natural ingredients and HS are needed. Red betel (Piper crocatum) and white galangal (Alpinia galanga) are familiar and easy to be found. These two plants have the potential to be the composition of HS because of their compounds, such as antioxidants, antibiotics, antifungals, and antivirals. However, there is a need for further research on their formulation and effectiveness in germ-killing.Purpose: To formulate and identify the antibacterial activity of HS containing red betel and white galangal extract.Method:  This research was an in vitro laboratory experiment with several steps, including extraction, specific and nonspecific tests, formulation, and antibacterial activity tests. Results: Red betel and white galangal leaves had been extracted at a concentration of 10% and formulated into HS. The HS containing 10% red betel extract produced an inhibition zone of 0 mm against E. coli and 1.05 mm against S. aureus, and the HS containing 10% White galangal extract produced an inhibition zone of 1.47 mm against E. coli and 1.40 mm against S. aureus. Conclusion:  The formulation of HS containing 10% of white galangal extract is more effective than the HS containing 10% of Red betel extract.
