Abstract

Peningkatan produksi dan penggunaan bawang merah dimasyarakat tentunya menyebabkan peningkatan jumlah limbah dari kulit bawang merah yang jarang dimanfaatkan masyarakat. Kulit bawang merah memiliki banyak kandungan senyawa aktif yang bermanfaat bagi kesehatan, salah satunya adalah kuersetin yang memiliki manfaat mengatasi hiperglikemia, anti-inflamasi, antioksidan bahkan sebagai antikanker. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan optimisasi proses ekstraksi kuersetin yang terkandung dalam kulit bawang merah. Proses ekstraksi dilakukan menggunakan Microwave-Assisted Extraction (MAE) dengan parameter daya microwave, waktu ekstraksi dan konsentrasi etanol. Analisis kadar kuersetin dilakukan menggunakan Kromatografi Cair Kinerja Tinggi (KCKT). Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan Response Surface Method (RSM) dengan menggunakan perangkat lunak Design Expert 12. Kondisi optimum metode MAE untuk mengekstraksi kuersetin dari kulit bawang merah adalah dengan menggunakan microwave dengan daya 450 watt selama 110,57 detik dan dengan menggunakan etanol 89,078%. Pada kondisi tersebut, diperoleh kuersetin dengan kadar 7,3933 mg/g serbuk simplisia kulit bawang merah. Dari data ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kulit bawang merah mengandung kuersetin yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan obat.

Abstract

Sediaan cair berbasis bawang putih (SCBBP) terbuat dari campuran beberapa bahan diantaranya yaitu bawang putih tunggal, jahe merah, sari buah lemon, cuka apel, dan madu. Sediaan ini memiliki berbagai khasiat farmakologis, namun belum ada penelitian yang menguji batas keamanan sediaan tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan  toksisitas akut dari SCBBP menggunakan metode ZFET (Zebrafish Embryo Toxicity) mengacu pada tatalaksanaOrganization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Embrio diberi paparan SCBBP dengan berbagai konsentrasi (50, 100, 200, 400, 600, 800, 1200, 1600 dan 2000 ppm) mulai dari 8 jam pasca-pembuahan (jpf) hingga 96 jpf. Data abnormalitas dan kematian yang diperoleh dianalisis secara statistik untuk memperoleh nilai LC50, EC50 dan Indeks teratogen (TI). Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa kelangsungan hidup embrio semakin menurun dengan semakin meningkatnya konsentrasi dan lama paparan SCBBP yang diberikan. Nilai rata-rata LC50 pada 24; 48; 72; dan 96 jpf adalah sebesar 1548 ppm; 1382 ppm; 1247 ppm; dan 1209 ppm, sedangkan nilai EC50 adalah sebesar 418,041 ppm, 306,445 ppm, 417,529 ppm dan 375,622 ppm dan nilai indeks teratogenic (TI) 1. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, disimpulkan bahwa SCBBP termasuk ke dalam kategori relatif tidak berbahaya dan tidak bersifat teratogen terhadap model embrio ikan zebra.

Abstract

Kebar grass (Biophytum petersianum) is being used traditionally by the people of West Papua to increase fertility. The effects of extracts and fractions of Kebar grass on the estrus cycle duration and estrus phase in rats were evaluated. The present work was designed to investigate the effects of administration of kebar grass extract and its fraction on the histopathological changes in the ovaries and uterine of rats. The female rats were treated with carboxy methyl cellulose sodium (CMC sodium) 1 % (group I), ethynile estradiol (group II), extract kebar grass (group III),  n-hexane fraction (group IV), ethyl acetate fraction (group V), and water fraction (group VI) of kebar grass via gavage daily for 7 days. At days 7th and 14th, 3 rats in each group were euthanized.  Uterine and ovarian collected and weighed. Hematoxylin-Eosin staining and the paraffin technique were used for histological preparation. Data were analyzed by One Way ANOVA followed by the Duncan test. The Kebar grass has an effect to increase ovarian and uterine weight, increasing most of the number of follicles especially primary follicle and uterine thickness. The treatment with ethyl acetate fraction of kebar grass (group V) constantly showed more effective results than the other kebar grass treatment.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a severe global recession with differential impacts within and across countries. As of August 2020, Indonesia’s COVID-19 case-fatality rate is higher than the world average. Preventive measures for the spread of infection in the form of physical distancing implemented in all educational facilities force educators and students to develop online learning technology, according to the Circular Letter of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 4 of 2020. Changes in learning patterns pose problems for the academic community, including in schools. Bogor Telecomedika Vocational High School. Difficulties arise not only because of the lack of skill of students and teachers in using technology, but also the increased workload due to the number of subjects and the workload that must be completed. Objective: As an Indonesian who lives in a country with abundant natural resources, the use of medicinal plants as an immune enhancer is an alternative to improve health. Methods: This activity was conducted at the Vocational School of Telekomedika in the form of a webinar with 129 participants. The theme of the webinar contains socialization and education about plants that are efficacious for enhancing immunity and making herbal medicine as one of the implementations of their use, as well as providing information about herbal product entrepreneurship. Results: This activity had a positive impact on 80.6% of participants in significantly increasing knowledge about nutritious plants and skills in processing natural ingredients into herbal medicine for body immunity.
