Abstract

Buah cabe jawa dan biji mahoni secara tunggal telah diteliti memiliki aktivitas sebagai peningkat stamina. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektifitas dari kombinasi ekstrak buah cabe jawa dan biji mahoni sebagai penambah stamina pada tikus putih jantan dan untuk mengetahui adanya efek samping yang ditimbulkan pada penggunaan jangka panjang. Hewan uji yang digunakan sejumlah 35 ekor tikus putih jantan yang dibagi dalam 7 kelompok. Setiap kelompok terdiri dari 5 ekor tikus putih. Kelompok tersebut terdiri dari biji mahoni, buah cabe jawa, kombinasi buah cabe jawa-biji mahoni (2:1), buah cabe jawa-biji mahoni (1:1), buah cabe jawa-Biji mahoni (1:2), kontrol (-) dan kontrol (+). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian kombinasi ekstrak buah cabe jawa-biji mahoni (2:1) dan (1:2) tidak berbeda nyata dengan efektivitas pemberian ekstrak cabe jawa dan biji mahoni secara tunggal, dan kontrol positif masih memiliki nilai peningkat stamina tertinggi dengan nilai rata-rata daya tahan renang sebesar 529 detik. Penggunaan kombinasi ekstrak buah cabe jawa-biji mahoni yang paling efektif adalah pada hari ke-3.Kata kunci: stamina, buah cabe jawa, biji mahoni (Long Term Effectiveness Experiment Combination of Javanese Long Pepper Fructus and Mahogany Bean Extract as a Stimulant to Male Rat)Javanese long pepper fructus and mahogany bean have a stimulant effect on body stamina. This research purposed to test the effectiveness of the combination of extract of javanese long pepper fructus and mahogany bean in long use for increasing stamina in male rats. A number of 35 male rats were used for testing and divided into 7 groups. Each group consisted of 5 rats. The group consists of mahogany bean, javanese long pepper fructus, javanese long pepper fructus-mahogany bean (2:1), javanese long pepper fructus-mahogany bean (1:1), javanese long pepper fructus-mahogany bean (1:2), control (-) and control (+). The result showed that administration of javanese long pepper extract-mahagony bean extract (2:1) and (1:2) do not show the effectiveness with javanese long pepper extract and mahagony bean extract in single use, and the positif control still show the high stimulant activity with the average value swimming endurance time of 529 seconds. Utilizing combination Javanese long pepper extractmahagony bean extract more effective in 3rd day.Keywords: stamina, javanese long pepper fructus, mahogany bean

Abstract

Hypnotics are substances which in certain dose is meant for escalating psychological desire to sleep and reduse and causingsleep. The research was aimed to determining the influence and the effective dose of citronella grass as sedative substance applied on male mice. Animals used on the test were amounted to 25 male mice which were divided into 5 groups, each of them consisted of 5 mice. Whose given the citronella grass extract were Dose Group I (12mg/20gBW), Dose Group II (24mg/20gBW), and Dose Group III (48mg/20gBW), by means of Negative Control Group (-) 0,5mL of distilled water, and Positive Group Control (+) in terms of 0.013mL/20gBW Diazepam. The results of the research show that the conferral of citronella grass essence is positively potential as a sedative substance on the mice. Thus, Dose III (48mg/20gBW)becomes the most effective dose with the mice onset of falling recorded 46.7 seconds. The conferral duration of citronella grass essence towards sedative effect on male mice with the dose (III) of 48mg/20gBW is the most effective dose due to the relative similarity with diazepam as postive control, observed from the average duration being close to diazepam as positive control within the average onset amounted to 4.46 seconds, while diazepam itself is amounted to 1.38 seconds.Key words: Citronella Grass, Sedativum, Rotarod

Abstract

The small particle size of nano calcium from freshwater mussels shell will tend to increase the absorp- tion of calcium by human’s body and will be very well consumed by children with special needs to suppress hyperactivity disorders that caused by mercury. This study aimed to create and determine the best instant granule formulation containing nano calcium from freshwater mussels shell. The research method began with the manufacture of freshwater mussels shell powder and isolated nano calcium. Nano calcium was tested for its solubility in acid. The granule formula was made with stevia varia- tions. Instant granule evaluation included granule ow test, rest angle, compressibility, water content, solubility, hedonic test, and calcium bioavailability. The results showed that nano calcium was soluble in 1:1 ratio of citric and tartrate acids, so that each formula needs 1.2% citric and 1.2% tartrate acids. Based on the avor, aroma, and texture, the most preferred granule formula contained 600 mg nano calcium, 60 mg citric acid, 60 mg tartaric acid, 400 mg stevia each sachet weighing 5 g. The best in- stant granule evaluation showed that the ow rate was 4.253 g/sec, 33.90 rest angle, 4.65% compress- ibility, 2.21% water content, soluble time 58 second and calcium bioavailability was 100%. Abstract

Inflammation is one of the immune system's main responses to infection and irritation. One of the medicinal plants that can be used as anti-inflammatory is African leaves because there have flavonoid compounds. Flavonoid compounds have anti-inflammatory effects that can regulate arachidonic acid metabolism by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) and lipooxygenase activity.This study aims to determine the effectiveness and determine the effective dose of African leaf infusion as anti-inflammatory in sparague dawley strain  induced carrageenan male white rats. The method used is measurement of udema with subplantar 1% carrageenan induction.Test animals used were 20 male rats divided into 5 groups. Each group consisted of 4 rats. Group I as a negative control was given CMC-Na solution, the second group as a positive control was given diclofenac sodium with 1.26 mg/200 gBB body weight, group III, IV and V were given African leaf infusion with three dose ratings namely 100, 150, 200 mg/kgBB bodyweight. The results showed that the infusion of African leaves had Antiinflammatory Activity with dose 200 mg/kg body weight as the most effective dose against inhibition of inflammation.

Abstract

Transfersome   saat   ini   telah   menjadi   tren   baru   dalam pengembangan  sistem  penghantaran  obat. Transfersome mempunyai kemampuan untuk dapat berpenetrasi ke dalam kulit lebih baik dibandingkan obat lain. Kulit yang mengalami Luka bakar mengalami kerusakan yang mempersulit proses penetrasi obat ke dalam kulit sehingga memperlama proses penyembuhan. Salah satu bahan yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai penyembuhan luka bakar adalah daun pandan (Pandanus amaryllifolius). Ekstrak daun pandan (Pandanus amaryllifolius) memiliki kegunaan sebagai obat luka bakar, namun sulit berpenetrasi kedalam kulit. Kendala ini dapat diatasi dengan memasukan ekstrak daun pandan ke dalam transfersome yang memiliki kemampuan melewati celah pori yang sempit pada kulit.  Dilakukan tiga formulasi dengan penambahan ekstrak daun pandan (0,025%) dan suspensi transfersome (1,161%) dan tanpa penambahan kedua ektrak. Penambahan karbopol 940 digunakan sebagai gelling agent. Evaluasi gel yaitu organoleptik, homogenitas, pH dan viskositas. Hasil ke tiga formula berwarna putih seulas, tidak berbau, homogen dan tidak terdapat gumpalan. Viskositas formula dengan trasfersome menunjukkan aliran dilatan dan pH 5,6. Seidaan gel yang dibuat, diharapkan dapat mengatur pelepasan transfersome dan menempel lebih lama sehingga meningkatkan waktu kontak pada kulit yang mengalami luka bakar.

Abstract

Kayu manis (Cinnamomum burmannii) merupakan salah satu tanaman dari famili Lauraceae yang mempunyai potensisebagai antijamur penyebab kandidiasis seperti C.albicans dan C.tropicalis, hal ini disebabkan kulit batang kayu manis mengandung minyak atsiri, flavonoid, polifenol, saponin, dan tannin. Tujuan penelitian adalah mendapatkan obat alternatif untuk mengobati penyakit yang disebabkan oleh jamur C.albicans dan C.tropicalis. Metode esktraksi yang digunakan adalah refluks, menggunakan pelarut yang kepolaran berbeda yaitu n-Heksan (non polar), etil asetat (semi polar), dan etanol 96% (polar). Ekstrak yang diperoleh selanjutnya dilakukan skrining kualitatif untuk kandungan flavanoid, alkaloid, tanin, polifenol dan saponin, diuji daya antioksidanya dan dilakukan penetapan kadar polifenol. Pengujian aktivitas antijamur dilakukan dengan menentukan Konsentrasi Hambat Minimum (KHM) dengan metode dilusi agar dan pengujian Lebar Daerah Hambat  (LDH) menggunakan metode difusi kertas cakram. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelarut etanol 96% menunjukan kadar polifenol tertinggi yaitu 3,89%  dan aktivitas antioksidan terbaik yaitu 66,29 mg/L, kstrak n-heksan mempunyai nilai KHM terbaik 2% dan LDH terbaik pada konsentrasi 8% dengan nilai rata-rata 16.30 mm±0.28 terhadap pertumbuhan C.albicans dan 15.66 mm ± 0.28 terhadap C.tropicalis.

Abstract

Human physical exercise is influenced by hemoglobin levels in the blood, stimulant testing of underlying fatigue should be tested for Hb levels. This study aims to determine the increase in stimulation and hemoglobin levels of white rats using beetroot and apple juice. The method used for stimulant testing was the endurance test using a rotarod and for measuring Hb levels using the sahli method with a hemometer. The data observed were the duration of resistance on rotarod stick which were rotated, the experimental animals used were 25 animals divided into 5 treatment groups with each group of 5 rats namely: group of beetroot and apple (1: 1) (2.8g: 0.63mg / 200gBB), comparison (2: 1) of (5.6g: 0.63mg / 200gBB), comparison (1: 2) of (2.8g: 1.26mg / 200gBB), negative control (-) (CMC-Na 0.5%) and positive  control (+) caffeine 20 mg / 200g BB. Dosage treatment is carried out in one day.The results showed that the combination of beetroot and apple juice had an increase in stimulant and hemoglobin levels of white rats with the most effective dose for stimulant enhancement and Hb levels were found in the second dose compared to beetroot and apple juice (2: 1) 5.6 g / 200gBB: 0.63 g / 200gBB.

Abstract

Flour of Anodonta woodiana meat may be added in the manufacture of food products such as granola bar. The aim of addition is to increase the nutritional value on snacks needed by children with special needs through fortification. This research method was done by making products granola bar in three formulas: without the addition of shells flour, the addition of 2.8 gram, and 5.6 gram. Granola bar were made for consumption by children (7-9 years old) and teenager (10-18 years old). Tests performed included organoleptic test. The results of organoleptic test between three formulas of produced granola bar have different characteristics in flavor parameter. The results of the analysis of parameters of color, aroma, and flavor tested by analysis of variance software showed that the most preferred formula is the second formula with the addition 2.8 gram of mussel meat flour. This granola bar snack is a healthy snack that is safe for consumption by children with special needs, because it is made from ingredients that do not contain flavorings, dyes and artificial preservatives.

Abstract

Trichopyton mentagrophytes is a type of fungus that belongs to a group of dermatophytes, and a disease that causes dermatophytosis (ringworm), this fungus likes parts that contain keratin substances such as skin, hair / hair, nails or horns. This study aims to determine the antifungal activity of 50% and 96% ethanol extract. KHM testing was made with a concentration of 2.5%, 5%, 7.5% and 10% with the dilution method to determine KHM. Whereas in testing the width of the inhibitory area (LDH) was carried out after getting the MIC value at concentrations of 10%, 25% and 50% with disc diffusion method to determine the effective LDH and qualitative phytochemical testing. The results showed that 96% ethanol solvent at a concentration of 50% could inhibit the fungus Trichopyton mentagrophytes compared to 50% ethanol as seen from the inhibition zone formed in the width of the inhibitory area. Secondary metabolite compounds found in 50% ethanol extract and 96% ethanol are flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, quinones and terpenoids.
