Abstract

Hubungan panjang bobot allometrik minor, kecepatan. pertumbuhan 0,45/thn, laju kematian penangkapan lebih besar dari laju kematian alami, laju eksploitasi sebesar 0,61 (over eksploitasi).Spermonde Islands is one of the main catchment areas of tiger grouper fish (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus) in South Sulawesi. If arrest efforts continue to be improved without considering the potential and condition of the population, it is feared that it can interfere with the sustainability of grouper resources in the future. Therefore, a study of population parameters and eksploitation rates is needed so the sustainability of tiger grouper resources is maintained. The study aimed at population parameters and the rate of exploitation of tiger grouper fish (E. fuscoguttatus) in the Spermonde Islands of South Sulawesi. The study was conducted from September 2021 to December 2021 in the Spermonde Islands Region of South Sulawesi. The research method in the form of measurements of the total length and weight 1032 catch of tiger grouper fish from the catch of fishermen and collecting traders landed at PPI Paotere, Makassar. The observed parameters include the distribution of length size, weight length relationship, growth rate, total mortality rate, natural and capture and rate of exploitation analyzed descriptively and with the ELEFAN program. The results of the analysis of the average length of tiger grouper fish (E. fuscoguttatus) in the Spermonde Islands measured between the size of 19.00 cm – 40.00 cm, (N = 1,023). Relationship length-weight of minor allometric, growth rate of 0.45/year, arrest death rate greater than natural mortality rate, exploitation rate of 0.61 (over exploitation)

Abstract

Purse seine fishing gear is designed to catch both large and small pelagic fish, and commonly used in tuna fisheries. However, this gear is not size-selective, and can pose a threat to fish stocks. The aim of this study was to obtain information on the biological characteristics of little tuna (Euthynnus affinis) caught by purse seiners operating in the waters of Herlang District in Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Data collected from March to May 2019 included little tuna fork length (FL), weight, sex, and gonad maturity stage (GMS). Fish characteristics analysed in this study were length-weight relationship, size distribution, life phase, and gonadal maturity. Analyses were performed in MS Excel 2010 and Graphpad Prism v.5.03. Male and female little tuna had isometric growth patterns. Modal length class was 24.0-24.4 cm for males and 23.0-23.4 cm for females. All fish caught were below 30 cm TL, while the mean size at first maturity for this species is 39.8 cm. Although the catch was dominated by immature fish (GMS I and GMS II), all GMS stages were present for both sexes, with around a third of females in GMS III-V. Keywords: Scombridae, gonad maturity stage, length-weight relationship, early maturation, fishing pressure.

Abstract

The trap used by the Lantebung community to catch crabs is a type of folding trap that is triangular with a frame made of iron and can be folded.  The problem with using this trap is that it often catches small crabs (the carapace width <6cm) with very low economic value and mostly thrown away. The high intensity of the small crab utilization will threaten the crab’s sustainability. It is, therefore, necessary to transfer technology to obtain an environmentally friendly folding trap by providing an escape gap for small crab size.  This PKM aimed to apply a friendly use folding trap technology for fishermen in Lantebung Village. The benefits of applying this friendly use folding trap technology a positive changes habitual from fishermen, an increase in income for fishermen’s families, and a sustainable management of crab resources in nature. The Community Service Activities (PKM) were carried out actively through counseling and demonstrations by fully involving the target audiences starting from counseling, implementation, and assistance in the field. The results of the PKM activity showed that there has been a change in behavior and an increase in knowledge of the target audiences, especially the suitable catch size for the crab.     The trap evaluation results showed that the traps with escape gaps (B1) caught fewer juvenile crabs when compared to those without escape gaps. Therefore, the B1 traps can be used properly, and by the achievement of crab size targets.
