Abstract

Most often dental and oral health experienced by school-age children is caries. Reason behind dental caries mostly by bad habits, lack of awareness to treat dental and oral hygiene lead micro-organisms in plaque continue spread on the surface of the teeth cause plaque gets thicker, beside the habit not taking care it, children have habit od eating sweet foods, contain simple sugars, the purpose knowing the behavioral factors in dental health maintenance elementary school studentstowards caries at SDN Ciptakarya Baleendah Bandung Regency. The type of research was cross-sectional, number of samples was all students in grades 4,5,6 SD Cipta Karya Baleendah Bandung Regency, methodwas proportional random sampling sample with results96people. Connection between dental health maintenance behavior and incidence of caries was carried out by bivariate test between independent variables on the dependent variable using Chi Square test. The results of Univariate test, students at SDN Ciptakarya Baleendah, Bandung Regency, most of them had caries 59%, teeth brushing habits were quite good 65%, eating habits - cariogenic foods were not good 55.57%, eating habits - non-cariogenic foods 83%, gargling after snacks less both 96.0% and control to the dental clinic 52%. The results of the bivariate test of dental and oral health maintenance behavior showed that gargling after eating had a relationship with caries, namely p = 0.039 ( p < 0.05).

Abstract

Dental and oral health is important for the health in general. One of the dental diseases is dental caries, dental caries is a serious health problem for school-age children because in general children like sweet drinks such as ice, milk, sweet drinks and the like. Many types of fast food drinks are sold in various places, thereby increasing children's interest in consuming these foods and beverages. Consuming cariogenic drinks with high frequency can increase the risk of caries. This study aims to determine the relationship of cariogenic drinks to the prevalence of dental caries in elementary school age children at SDN 036 Ujungberung, Bandung. This research is a quantitative analytical research with a cross-sectional. This research was conducted by conducting direct examination of children and filling out questionnaires. Sampling technique was carried out using the purposive sampling with a sample of 78 respondents. Data processing was carried out quantitatively by collecting data on the frequency of cariogenic drink consumption and caries prevalence data. The results of this study showed that the prevalence of caries was 59.0%, the frequency of consumption of cariogenic drinks was the highest percentage obtained by students with high levels of cariogenic drink consumption, namely 41.0% which stated that there was no relationship between cariogenic drink consumption and the prevalence of dental caries in elementary school-aged children at SDN 036 Ujungberung. Bandung.

Abstract

Parents' knowledge about the period of tooth growth, both primary and permanent teeth, is very important, but in fact, parents often don't care about their children's teeth. The role of parents is very necessary for guiding, providing understanding, reminding, and providing facilities to children so that children can maintain oral hygiene. Parents also have an important role in preventing caries in children. This study aims to describe the knowledge of parents about dental growth and prevention of dental caries in TK Kemala Bhayangkari 42 Bandung. This type of research uses descriptive research methods. The place and time of this research were carried out at Kemala Bhayangkari 42 Kindergarten, Bandung City. The population in this study were all parents of Kemala Bhayangkari 42 Kindergarten students in Bandung, amounting to 35 people. The research sample is total sampling and the research instrument uses a questionnaire. Parents' knowledge of dental growth in the less category is 51.4% and the level of parental knowledge about caries prevention is in the sufficient category, which is 48.6%. Parental knowledge about dental growth is still in the poor category, while parental knowledge about caries prevention is in the sufficient category.

Abstract

The most common dental and oral disease in the community, especially in school-age children, is dental caries. One of the causes of dental caries is the type and frequency of cardiogenic snacks. This study aims to determine the relationship between the type and frequency of snacks on the experience of dental caries in school-age children at SDN Cisalak III, Sumedang Regency. This type of research is quantitative analytic with cross-sectional. Samples were taken by purposive sampling method with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Measurement of the type and frequency of snacks was carried out using a questionnaire filled out by students aged 12 years. The experience of dental caries was measured directly by the DMF-t index, design with fisher exact hypothesis test. The results of this study indicate that the type of snacks consumed the most is the type of cardiogenic snacks as much as 64.1% with a high frequency of cardiogenic snacks at 74.4%. From the results of direct examination, it was found that the DMF-T index of respondents had very high criteria, namely 51.3%. After the Fisher exact test, there was a significant relationship between the type of snacks and the experience of dental caries P(0.02) < (0.05) and there was a significant relationship between the frequency of snacks and the experience of dental caries in school-age children P(0.04) < (0.05).
