Abstract

The purpose of this study is to show the types of difficulties MA students have in solving mathematical problems using the bloom taxonomy and the factors that cause it. The approach of this research is descriptive. As a sample of the study were 35 students of the X-MIA2 MA in Cimahi. Data collection is done by using a written test in the form of a description and equipped with interviews with the subject to track the type of difficulty; namely the difficulty of factual understanding, conceptual understanding, procedural understanding, and understanding of metacognitive and causal factors. The questions tested were 6 items. Data analysis was carried out by calculating many difficulties of students supported by the results of tests and interviews, then followed by conclusions. The results showed the highest metacognitive difficulties experienced by students. The order of the level of difficulty also occurs in terms of difficulties in knowing, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating. the factors that cause difficulties based on the results of a review of the answers of students who are not capable of mastering the concept, understanding the concept of determining a function of the function of the composition known, knowing in detail about the concept of function composition and carelessness of students in working on the problem, able to apply factors causes, understanding the material preconditions, determining strategies, the concept of the nature of the function of composition and algebraic operations, understanding the concept of the function of composition only knowing how to use it cannot use the strategy correctly and are also unable to find errors.

Abstract

This research is qualitative research with correlation method aims to analyze students' mathematical communication skills in solving problems that are viewed from gender. The selection of research subjects using purposive sampling technique based on sex with the procedure for selecting research subjects, namely, choosing male and female students. Then a written test was carried out in the form of a test of mathematical communication skills, then the test results were analyzed. The population in this study were all seventh grade students in the 2017/2018 school year at one of the junior high schools in Cimahi City. While the study sample was taken one class randomly from the whole class VII, namely class VII A totaling 30 students consisting of 15 male students and 15 female students. Measurement of mathematical communication skills of students in this study using a test instrument in the form of a set of questions in the form of a description without any prior learning as many as 5 questions. Giving a description question aims to see the process of students' abilities, accuracy and systematic arrangement of answers that can be seen from each step of solving the problem made. This test of mathematical communication skills was developed by researchers for social arithmetic material as the first step taken in compiling questions is to make a grid, arrange questions and answer keys and determine the score of each item in question. The results of the correlation test and the percentage of tests of mathematical communication skills from this study are that there is an influence of gender on the mathematical communication skills of junior high school students with the results of mathematical communication skills of male students classified as moderate with an average value of 57.47%, while the mathematical communication abilities of female students are classified high with an average percentage value of 65.73%

Abstract

Mathematical reflective thinking ability is a process of thinking someone in understanding, identifying, analyzing problems based on relevant information and determining solutions to solve these problems. The importance of reflective marriage is to help students develop high-level thinking skills through their encouragement to: 1) connect new knowledge to their previous understanding. 2) thinking in abstract and concrete terminology. 3) apply specific strategies for new tasks. 4) understand their own thinking processes and learn on their own. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The population of this study was all junior high school students in the city of Cimahi, which became the sample of this study were students of class VII-H at Cimahi Middle School 8. The instruments of reflective thinking ability were given to students as many as 5 questions for written tests accompanied by interviews with each student. Then the results obtained are the level of mathematical reflective thinking ability of junior high school students in Cimahi City based on written tests and the results of interviews with Cimahi students are still relatively low and there is no influence between student self-independence and mathematical relative thinking skills.
