Abstract

The purpose of this research is comparing the conceptual understanding of students who learn with Contextual Teaching and Learning using modules in the material of Class VIII Two-Variable Linear Equation (SPLDV) System in SMP N 2 Timpeh. This study was an Quasy Experiment with a Randomized Control Group Design Only. The population of all eighth grade students of SMP N 2 Timpeh in 2018/2019 which collected 66 people. Sampling by Simple random sampling and selected class VIII students. A as experimental class and VIII. B as a control class. The results of the study, obtained an average value of students' understanding of the mathematical concepts in the experimental class and combined controls were 83.35 and 78.72. Furthermore, hypothesis testing is done for the students' ability to understand concepts, obtained that t count > t table, which states the understanding ability of students who learn through contextual Teaching and Learning using a higher module about the ability to learn concepts of students who learn through conventional learning. This shows that learning uses modules effectively in improving students' conceptual comprehension abilities.

Abstract

Pendidik Matematika di MTs Muhammadiyah Muaro Pauah menggunakan LKS sebagai bahan ajar penunjang pembelajaran. Jadi, LKS harus berkualitas agar membantu tercapainya tujuan pembelajaran. Namun, kualitas LKS belum diketahui karena LKS hanya dicek secara garis besar oleh pendidik yang bersangkutan. Oleh karena itu, pada penelitian ini membahas tentang analisis LKS khususnya kualitas materi(isi) LKS. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian studi dokumen/teks dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik observasi dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data penelitian adalah deskriptif persentatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kualitas materi LKS adalah sangat baik dengan rata-rata persentase skor sub aspek materi sebesar 88,39%, maka LKS sudah layak dijadikan bahan ajar penunjang pembelajaran.

Abstract

Rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan berpikir kritis matematis peserta didik kelas VIII MTsN 1 Kota Payakumbuh menjadi latar belakang penelitian ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk 1) mengetahui kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik yang belajar dengan model pembelajaran problem posing tipe post solution posing lebih tinggi daripada kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik yang belajar dengan pembelajaran biasa (K-13) di kelas VIII MTsN 1 Kota Payakumbuh. 2) mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik yang belajar dengan model pembelajaran problem posing tipe post solution posing lebih tinggi daripada kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik yang belajar dengan pembelajaran biasa (K-13) di kelas VIII MTsN 1 Kota Payakumbuh. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen semu dengan rancangan randomized control group only design. Berdasarkan hasil tes, diperoleh bahwa 1) nilai rata-rata hasil tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah  matematis kelas eksperimen 78,63 dan kelas kontrol 68,1. Setelah dilakukan uji hipotesis dengan uji-t, ???? = 0,05 pada selang kepercayaan 95% diperoleh thitung (3,03) ≥ ttabel (1,67) maka keputusannya H0 ditolak dan H1  diterima, artinya kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik yang belajar dengan model pembelajaran problem posing tipe post solution posing lebih tinggi daripada kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik yang belajar dengan pembelajaran biasa (K-13) di kelas VIII MTsN 1 Kota Payakumbuh. 2) nilai rata-rata hasil tes kemampuan berpikir kritis  kelas eksperimen 83,97 dan kelas kontrol 73,9. Setelah dilakukan uji hipotesis dengan uji-t, ???? = 0,05 pada selang kepercayaan 95% diperoleh thitung  (3,05) ≥ ttabel (1,67) maka keputusannya H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima, artinya kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik yang belajar dengan model pembelajaran problem posing tipe post solution posing posing lebih tinggi daripada kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis peserta didik yang belajar dengan pembelajaran biasa (K-13) di kelas VIII MTsN 1 Kota Payakumbuh.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the use of learning media that is not in accordance with the characteristics of students, where currently in the learning process educators only use textbooks and LKPD. Educators lack innovation to develop learning media that are more modern and in accordance with the characteristics of students, such as developing media that uses the internet and digital technology as operating tools. Based on this, research was conducted on the development of mathematical e-comic media based on Contextual Teaching and Learning on social arithmetic material for class VII students who met the valid, practical, and effective criteria. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). This study involved 7th-grade students of SMPN 1 Sintuk Toboh Gadang, 6 students were selected as the subject of the one-to-one evaluation and 12 as the small group trial. This research produces a valid, practical, and effective mathematical e-comic based on Contextual Teaching and Learning media. The results of this study indicate that the e-comic media meets the very valid criteria with an average validity of 88.05%, meets the very practical criteria with average practicality of 92.36% for educators and 90.02% for students, meets the effective criteria with acquisition of a complete percentage of 83.33 %.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis peserta didik kelas VIII MTsN 4 Padang Pariaman. Salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut adalah dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran berbasis penemuan berbantuan video pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis peserta didik kelas VIII MTsN 4 Padang Pariaman yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing berbantuan video pembelajaran lebih tinggi dari pada kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis peserta didik yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasy experiment dengan rancangan randomized control group only design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas VIII MTsN 4 Padang Pariaman sebanyak 157 peserta didik, teknik pengambilan sampel dengan random sampling maka sampel yang terpilih adalah peserta didik kelas VIII.5 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan peserta didik kelas VIII.1 sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis yang dianalisis dengan uji-t. Berdasarkan hasil tes yang telah dilakukan, diperoleh nilai rata-rata tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis di kelas eksperimen 83,32 dan nilai rata-rata kelas kontrol 66,16. Setelah dilakukan uji hipotesis menggunakan uji-t, dengan ???? = 0,05 pada taraf kepercayaan 95% pada kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis diperoleh ???? ℎ i ???????????? g(2,8 > ???? ???????????????????? (1,67) maka keputusannya adalah ???? 0 ditolak dan ???? 1 diterima, artinya kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis peserta didik kelas VIII MTsN 4 Padang Pariaman dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran guided discovery learning berbantuan video pembelajaran lebih tinggi dari pada kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis peserta didik kelas kontrol yang tidak menggunakan model pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing belajar berbantuan video pembelajaran.

Abstract

This study investigates how effective rapid calculation training is in improving the basic math skills of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) teachers in West Sumatra. This research was conducted because teachers rarely use effective calculation strategies and there are no professional development programs specifically aimed at enhancing their basic math skills. A quantitative method was used with a single pretest-posttest group. The study involved 125 teachers from four Madrasah Ibtidaiyah located in West Sumatra, and 96 participants were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through rapid calculation tests administered before and after the training intervention. Paired-sample t-tests and the N-Gain index were used to analyze the collected data. The results showed a statistically significant improvement in participants' performance after the training, with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). In the posttest, the average score increased from 36.00 in the pretest to 67.27 in the posttest. In addition, the level of participant competence improvement is shown by an N-Gain value of 0.49. The results indicate that calculation training is effective in quickly improving the basic mathematics competence of MI teachers. These results also show that this type of training can serve as a feasible professional development program to enhance teachers' mathematics skills and improve the quality of mathematics learning in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah.

Abstract

Padang City is one of the regions with a high risk of earthquakes and tsunamis. Following an earthquake that has the potential to generate a tsunami, residents must immediately evacuate to safer locations. Based on the evacuation simulations conducted by the government, the West Sumatra Grand Mosque has been designated as one of the vertical evacuation shelters. Although the building was designed to withstand earthquakes, it is also necessary to ensure that its elevation is sufficient to protect the community from tsunami hazards. Therefore, this study aims to estimate the safe tsunami limit for the second floor of the West Sumatra Grand Mosque using the Hills and Mader inundation model combined with the SCHEMA model. The results of the study provide a safe tsunami threshold interval by classifying shelter conditions into three categories: safe, when the inundation depth remains below the evacuation floor elevation; alert, when the inundation depth approaches the evacuation floor elevation, requiring evacuation to a higher floor; and unsafe, when the inundation depth exceeds the available evacuation floor elevation. These threshold intervals provide a basis for evaluating the suitability of vertical evacuation shelters under various tsunami scenarios in Padang City. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a reference for the planning and evaluation of vertical evacuation shelters and to support tsunami disaster mitigation efforts in Padang City.

Abstract

Errors in solving math story problems remain a common problem among students. This is due to the lack of in-depth analysis by teachers of the types of errors made by students based on Kastolan's theory, resulting in the same patterns of errors being repeated. Based on this problem, this study aims to identify and describe the types of errors made by students in solving mathematical story problems based on Kastolan's theory. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach with a sample of 36 students in class X.E6 at SMAN 2 Bukittinggi, selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a story problem test on trigonometry consisting of five questions. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to obtain the percentage of each type of error. The results showed that 21 students (59.44%) made conceptual errors, 24 students (67.67%) made procedural errors, and 22 students (62.78%) made technical errors. Thus, procedural errors were the most dominant type of error made by students. These findings indicate the need for more systematic learning strategies and an emphasis on procedural understanding in solving mathematical story problems.
