Abstract

Dictation (tīngxiě) is commonly applied to evaluate students' ability to master Chinese characters. However, dictation is challenging to use in online learning because lecturers do not have full control over the conditions around students when dictation is carried out. Students tend to think more about a "strategic position" to putting notes during dictation than preparing and memorizing Chinese characters. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the types of dictation questions in online learning. This study is a classroom action research which consists of 4 stages: planning, implementing, observation, and reflection. Researchers designed four types of dictation questions that applied to the Writing Proficiency course for beginner-level Chinese Language and Culture Study Program students at the University of Al Azhar Indonesia. Research data sources from observations, questionnaires and tests. The results showed that the design of the applied dictation question types effectively reduced the opportunity for students to cheat during dictation. In addition, this dictation method is also effective for practising Chinese writing skills and students' mastery of Chinese strokes and writing order.Keywords - Chinese character; dictation; tingxie; online learning; Chinese language.

Abstract

翻转课堂是一种以学生为主的学习模式,学生在听课前必须观看教师准备的学习材料(视频),而在课堂中,教师给了学生更多的时间来讨论和练习学生提前学习的材料。本研究旨在证明翻转课堂能否帮助解决传统学习模式中存在的问题,帮助学生提高学习效率。本研究对象是共同希望语言学院使用综合1课本B和C的强化班学生,通过实验研究方法和问卷调查发现翻转课堂可以解决传统课堂中存在的问题。本研究中发现的传统课堂中存在的问题也可以作为对翻转课堂学习模式感兴趣的教师及研究人员的借鉴与参考。
