Abstract

This study offers a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of Qur’anic exegesis (tafsir) within the Indonesian pesantren (Islamic boarding school) tradition over the past twenty-five years (2000–2025). Employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and bibliometric mapping tools such as VOSviewer, the research identifies key themes, dominant methodological trends, and critical research gaps in this field. The results reveal that while pesantren hold a pivotal role in preserving and transmitting tafsir knowledge, scholarly attention to systematic studies in this area remains limited. Predominant research themes include Islamic education, civil society engagement, multicultural pedagogy, religious networks, and the socio-political role of tafsir. Methodologically, studies tend to lean on narrative and descriptive approaches, with limited quantitative or systematic review methodologies explicitly employed. This study bridges that gap by offering a conceptual synthesis and providing a thematic and network-based visualization of the field. The research contributes both to academic discourse by mapping the epistemic and thematic landscape of tafsir in pesantren, and to practical policy by offering insights that could inform curriculum development, pedagogical innovation, and future interdisciplinary research directions.

Abstract

The phenomenon of Indonesian labor migration to Malaysia has been ongoing for a long time and has had significant social impacts, particularly for migrant children. They often experience limited access to education, identity issues, and weak moral and religious development. In this context, a more creative and contextual approach to Islamic propagation is needed. Mentoring through pencak silat is a relevant alternative because, in addition to being a martial art, pencak silat also contains values of discipline, respect, and spirituality that align with Islamic teachings, particularly the values of enjoining good and forbidding evil. This activity aims to determine the effectiveness of pencak silat mentoring as a means of propagation in instilling the values of enjoining good and forbidding evil in Indonesian migrant children in Kuala Lumpur. Furthermore, it examines how silat activities can strengthen their character, morals, and Islamic cultural identity in a multicultural environment. The method used is a service learning approach, a learning model that combines social service with a process of educational reflection. Data were obtained through observations during training activities, interviews with participants and mentors, and documentation of activities. Through this method, the process of internalizing values can be directly observed in children's behavior, attitudes, and interactions. The results show that pencak silat is effective as a means of transformative da'wah (Islamic outreach). The values of amar makruf (promoting good and doing good) are evident in increased positive behavior, cooperation, and honesty, while the values of nahi munkar (forbidding evil) are reflected in children's ability to control themselves and avoid negative behavior. This approach not only conveys da'wah but also fosters Islamic character that is applicable in everyday life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyzes the position of pesantren in the national education system based on Law No. 18 of 2019, focusing on Formal Diniyyah Education (PDF) and Mu’adalah Education. As religious-based institutions, pesantren play a strategic role in human resource development. The 2019 Pesantren Law grants them official recognition within the national education system. Using a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, this study reviews policy documents, academic literature, and research reports. Findings show that the law provides a strong legal basis for pesantren, recognizing PDF and Mu’adalah as equivalent to formal education. However, challenges remain in accreditation, curriculum standardization, and institutional management. The study concludes that integrating pesantren into the national system is a progressive step, but stronger government support in regulation and funding is essential. Recommendations are given to policymakers and pesantren administrators to enhance the implementation of PDF and Mu’adalah in achieving national education goals.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of a TikTok-style short video-assisted flipped classroom model on students' learning motivation in Islamic Cultural History (SKI) at MTs KHA Wahid Hasyim Bangil. Low motivation, driven by lecture-dominant teaching and a mismatch between instructional style and Generation Z learners' digital characteristics, served as the primary background. Using a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design, the study involved 64 eighth-grade students divided equally into experimental and control groups (n=32 each). A motivation instrument based on Keller's ARCS model was employed (α = 0.891). Results showed the experimental group achieved an N-Gain of 0.55 (moderate), compared to 0.28 (low) in the control group. An independent t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), confirming a significant difference between groups. The Attention dimension showed the greatest improvement. This study offers an innovative approach integrating popular media formats into Islamic education at the junior secondary level.

Abstract

Arabic is a language that must be learned by all Muslims in the world. Studying Arabic as a second language will certainly encounter significant difficulties. The differences in terms in Arabic mean that most students do not understand how to use them. Fast learning methods in learning Arabic are increasingly developing. One of them is the al-miftah method. The al-miftah method is used to equate terms in Arabic to Indonesian so that they are easy to understand. For this reason, in this research the researcher wants to combine the al-miftah method into the Arabic language learning process in class VII of Mts KHA Wahid Hasyim Bangil

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Microteaching practice in preparing professional prospective Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers and to identify critical gaps regarding the spiritual and reflective dimensions in the existing literature. The study was conducted using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, guided by the PRISMA 2020 framework. Following a rigorous staged selection process, a qualitative synthesis was performed on 10 final articles derived from 202 initially identified records. The findings indicate that Microteaching is highly effective in developing technical skills and mastering Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK), but its evaluation tends to be mechanistic and fails to capture the Holistic dimension, specifically the spiritual and ethical aspects vital for PAI teacher professionalism. The main contribution (novelty) of this study is the proposed framework for the Holistic PAI Microteaching Model. This model suggests a paradigm shift toward reflective-clinical teacher education, adapting reflection into the mechanism of muhasabah (spiritual self-reflection), supported by technology integration such as video-supported collaborative learning to train ethical response and character. It is concluded that the adoption of the Holistic PAI Microteaching Model is a methodological imperative to produce graduates who are not only technically proficient but also possess complete character integrity and spirituality.

Abstract

Rural solid waste management remains a persistent governance and public-health challenge in Indonesia, particularly in communities where disposal infrastructure is limited and open dumping has become normalised. This article examines how Participatory Action Research (PAR) fostered community-based solid waste management in Pandansari Hamlet, Tigasan Wetan Village, Probolinggo Regency. Using a qualitative-dominant design, the study integrated participatory observation, social mapping, focus group discussions, visual documentation, and community reflection conducted from December 2024 to January 2025. The PAR cycle comprised trust-building, problem diagnosis, deliberative planning, collective action, and reflective evaluation. The intervention identified three interrelated barriers: the transition from organic to mixed household waste, dependence on external infrastructure, and the normalisation of unsanitary disposal practices. By mobilising religious networks, neighbourhood leadership, and gotong royong, residents implemented clean-ups in three critical zones and established a small communal disposal facility. The findings show that PAR strengthened environmental awareness, enabled local consensus, and converted community concern into practical action. The article contributes to community-based waste-management literature by demonstrating that rural sustainability initiatives depend not only on technical facilities but also on the activation of social capital, locally legitimate leadership, and culturally embedded collective learning. The study recommends institutional follow-up through RT/RW rules, village-supported waste facilities, and circular-economy mechanisms such as waste banks linked to local governance.
